Winner Selection: The winner will chosen by WormholeRiders News Agency staff in a random drawing that will be video recorded and broadcast here at WHR Conventions Corners the evening of May 15, 2011. Five runners up will also be selected in the event of special circumstances discussed below. The random drawing will be video recorded with WormholeRiders News Agency employees acting as fair witnesses

Winner Selection Requirements: The real name of winner will not be announced, only their Twitter name, unless the winner desires their real name to be announced. The winner of the two (2) Stargate Vancouver 2011 Gold Tickets in the Giveaway will be required to respond within 24 hours subsequent to announcement at this news site, on Twitter from the WormholeRiders News Agency account and on WormholeRiders News Agency Facebook by e-mail response sent to their attention by the management of WormholeRiders News Agency.

In the event that the StarCon Vancouver 2011 VIP Ticket Giveaway random drawing winner does not respond within twenty-four (24) hours, a new winner will be selected from the first (1st) to fifth (5th) runner up (of five) and will be announced as the replacement winner. In the event that any selected replacement winner does not respond within twenty-four (24) hours, WormholeRiders News Agency may elect to award the tickets to another winner by random drawing at their sole discretion.

Winner Redemption Criteria: The winners will be required to provide their legal name that matches their photo identification card (valid official drivers license, valid official identification card and or valid official international passport) and a contact phone number. Winner identification information will only be provided to Auroris Entertainment for the sole purpose of verifying the identity of the winner at prize redemption time.

Auroris Entertainment will be notified on or before May 21, 2011, but no sooner than May 16, 2011 of the StarCon Vancouver 2011 VIP Tickets Giveaway winner identity. To collect their prize, the winner must present their valid aforementioned matching identification provided to WormholeRiders News Agency at the official StarCon Vancouver 2011 Convention on June 24, 2011 registration desk.

Transfer by winner: The StarCon Vancouver 2011 VIP Tickets Giveaway winner has the right to transfer or sell their two (2) VIP TICKETS to a third party, but is required to disclose the identity of the recipient to WormholeRiders News Agency by e-mail on or before June 01, 2011 so that said third party identity can be verified and transmitted to Auroris Entertainment. There are no exceptions to to this policy.

Press Release: Caprica Season One Episode 12 Sneak Peek!
Hello once again Caprica fans!

Now about Caprica episode 12 from season one… Here is a special sneak with a reveal and a surprise about what is coming up in the near future it is! All we can say is CapricaIsBack! The second half of the first season of Caprica recently returned in the United States with the episode “Unvanquished”. Last nights episode “Retribution” was outstanding! We are all looking forward to the second half of the first season as we are sure you are as well!

As we have stated previously, WHR expected outstanding performances to be given by the Caprica main actors. We have not been disappointed! To recap Eric Stolz portrays Daniel Graystone, Alessandra Torresani is Zoe Graystone, the original Cylon, U-87, Polly Walker as the sinister Sister Clarice, Paula Malcomson as pitiful but cunning Amanda Graystone, Esai Morales as mob henchman Joseph Adama, Magda Apanowicz as innocent Lacy Rand now in up to her neck, Genevieve Buechner as ‘dead-walker’ Tamara Adama, and the newest cast member Ryan Robbins of Sanctuary as “Diego” the assassin in Caprica!

Caprica Cylon Centurians Completely Captivate Citizens by An Honest Mistake!
The return of Caprica is finally here!

Our long wait is finally over! Team WHR has been in a state of avid anticipation ever since we witnessed the Caprica cast at Comic-Con reveal that a surprise was in store and now we all know what it is! Caprica is back!

The second half of the first season of Caprica returns tonight in the United States with the episode “Unvanquished” at 10 PM Eastern and Pacific immediately following Stargate Universe on SyFy for the second half of the first season.

WHR expects outstanding performances to be given by our main actors, Eric Stolz as Daniel Graystone, Alessandra Torresani as Zoe Graystone, the original Cylon, U-87, Polly Walker as Sister Clarice, Paula Malcomson as Amanda Graystone, Esai Morales as Joseph Adama, Magda Apanowicz as Lacy Rand, Genevieve Buechner as Tamara Adama, and with new cast members such as Ryan Robbins of Sanctuary whom will portray “Diego” in Caprica! Of course we hope to see more of the comic relief character “Serge the Robot” portrayed by Jim Thomson (voice of Serge in the series).

Belinda’s Wormhole Circle in the Sand: GateCon Coverage & Four More (8 total) Stars at Auroris Fan Party!

Several stars have confirmed they will be able to attend the Auroris Entertainment Pre GateCon Party being conducted at The Canadian on Wednesday July 07, 2010 bringing the total to SEVEN!

Hey Convention Fans,

Well it is almost time for GateCon and WHR will be there for you! The WHR GateCon team is proud to announce that not only will we be tweeting live from the convention, our news team with the wonderful NaddyCat will also be covering the fantastic pre GateCon Fan Party by the wonderful hostess Ms. Patricia Bertand of Auroris Entertainment!

There are several (5) great special celebrities already scheduled to appear as well as additional stars whom to your delight may “Crash” the party! The video playing below details the special Auroris Entertainment guests!

For those not familiar with Ms. Bertrand’s hospitality, the Auroris Fan Party is an intimate event being held at the The Canadian by Worldmark at 1080 Hornby Street Vancouver British Columbia, Canada V6Z 2Y7 Or call (604) 684-3500 for directions and event information.

The Canadian is easy to find located right across the road from the Sheraton North entrance.

Genevieve Buechner of Caprica and Fringe Interview!
Editors update: December 07, 2010.

Ms. Genevieve Buechner star of the hit science fiction series Caprica will appear in Fringe season three episode nine “Marionette”.

Last week I interviewed Genevieve Buechner whom you will most likely recognize from Caprica, in which she plays Tamara Adama.

During the interview Genevieve shares some stories from shooting Caprica and discusses some of her experiences on different projects.

Genevieve shares how she convinced her mother that she was serious about acting and got herself an agent at a young age, and how she has dealt with some of the challenges inherent in being a young actor: for Genevieve, the worst of these have been dealing with some recent medical issues as well as trying to attend schools while maintaining an active acting career.

Genevieve also discusses her take on Tamara Adama and some of the things she’d like to see in the future for her character. I found it interesting that the trait Genevieve most admires in Tamara is the ability to pick herself up and deal with the hand she’s been dealt – namely, that she wakes up to find herself in a whole new world and must adapt. Genevieve says that she can relate to this as it mirrors some of her own life experiences.

Genevieve also touches on some of the new movies she has worked on which should be released soon: Courage, Daydream Nation, and Bond of Silence, which is currently filming.

Annual Auroris Entertainment Fan Party

Fellow Fans,

The annual Stargate Fan party, organized and held by Patricia Stewart -Bertrand of Auroris Entertainment, was full of laughter, chatting, and an all-around great experience which I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. In fact, if you are in Vancouver next year for the convention, you ought to consider coming into town a day early to attend the fan party.

Smiles abound.

One of the things I enjoyed so much about the party is the small intimate setting – with a relatively small number of fans who had a great time chatting with the guests. Among the guests at this year’s fan party were: Bruce Woloshyn, who was the digital effects supervisor on Stargate Atlantis and SG-1 for numerous years, Crystal Dahl and Christine Willes from Dead Like Me, Genevieve Buechner of, most recently, Caprica, Dan Payne of SG-1 and Human Target, Aleks Paunovic of SG-1, Sanctuary, and Human Target, and last, but certainly not least, Patrick Gilmore and Peter Kelamis of SGU.

Also in attendance as a guest, was Mika McKinnon, who you may recognize as a science consultant for Stargate. I recently met her out at our university as she did a presentation on science in science fiction – with a focus on Stargate. At the party Mika brought glasses with different diffraction gratings which show different colours of the various lights in the room as the different wavelengths are diffracted differently by the glasses.

The charity to which proceeds from the night’s auction were donated is a local victim support group and there was a Constable from the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) at the party who was happy to chat and pose for pictures.

After watching the first half of an extensive – and hilarious – compilation of bloopers, gag reels, and clips from Stargate, a game of Stargate Jeopardy commenced. Dan Payne administered the questions and hammed it up for everyone. Guests had a great time watching the 3 contestants answering questions and, if none of them could answer, the question was opened to the audience. It was great fun seeing some of the different trivia which people could and couldn’t answer, and the volunteers who set up Jeopardy did a great job coming up with tricky questions.

Following the game of Jeopardy, Aleks, Dan, Patrick, and Peter were given paddle-ball toys, and were to compete amongst themselves to see who could keep the ball going the longest. If you have ever tried one of those paddle-ball toys, you should already have an inkling as to where this is going: the basic strategy seemed to be to sit back, shield the face, and fling the paddle-ball around as hard as possible. It really was quite hilarious watching the four guys trying to make the paddle-balls work.

I really did have a wonderful time meeting everyone, chatting, and laughing. For me, it was a great start to what will be my first Convention this weekend. On that note, some pictures of me with the guys:

One thing I would like to add is that in the course of chatting with Aleks Paunovic, he mentioned that he has a short film coming out soon which he helped create in conjunction with Tahmoh Penikett, whom you will most likely recognize from his work on Battlestar: Galactica. The film is called “The Hostage” by Aleks Take 29 Productions of Canada.

Pre VanCon Auroris Entertainment Fan Party Fun in Burnaby BC!

NaddyCat and I (ValaBlack) arrived incredibly early to the Auroris Entertainment Fan Party – so early, in fact, that the room had yet to even be set up. We sat and chatted for awhile and tweeted, too.

Yes, we tweeted while sitting next to each other and some of those messages were directed at each other. That’s all I’m saying about that. We met a few other people while we waited and discussed shows like Fringe, Doctor Who and, of course, Stargate.

The first celebrity guest to appear was Bruce Woloshyn, famed special effect wizard of Stargate and known most recently by Stargate fans for “Children of the Gods – the Final Cut” . Patricia Stewart-Bertrand owner of Auroris Entertainment introduced us and we gave him our cards. We didn’t get to chat with him much, sadly, but he was very nice.

The next special guest we saw was Genevieve Buechner (best known as Tamara Adama in Caprica), along with her friend Brianna. NaddyCat went to talk to them first, but I joined her soon after – I had lagged because I was talking to some other fans at our table.

Both Genevieve and Briana were really fun to talk to and we hung out with them for quite awhile. Genevieve was very easy to talk to – definitely not stuck up like some actresses can be. Both her and Brianna were very funny and I had a great time talking to them. Obviously I can’t tell you what exactly we discussed, as it was off the record, but they were a lot of fun!

We made the rounds among the fans and took some photos, then Patricia made a speech introducing the guests, volunteers and press (which would be the two of us from WormholeRiders and Chad from GateWorld). WHR has long been an admirer of GW and it was nice to meet someone like Chad from the fabled land of Gateworld!

There was also a Canadian Royal Mounted Policeman there in which Auroris Entertaiment supports their charitable associations. Great charity work Auroris. I think it is true to say I was slightly over-excited to meet a RMCP Officer. I kept my cool, but I’ve never actually seen a Canadian Mounted Police before outside of cartoons! He was really nice – and he watches Stargate, so that was a definite bonus.

We then chatted a bit with Aleck Paunovic, Peter Kelamis and Patrick Gilmore of Stargate Universe (later from Riese Series) . All I can say is that both of these men are hilarious! Patrick gave us his rant on Heroes and I was practically busting a gut with laughter.

After awhile, NaddyCat and I split up. I went back to hang out with Genevieve and Brianna, while Naddy chatted more with Peter Kelamis and Patrick Gilmore. I chatted, as well, with some other fans. If you know me, you know I’m a big fan of soap actress Crystal Chappell of Days of Our Lives and her new series Venice! I was stoked to meet another fan of hers who was also a Star “Gater” – essentially combining two of my favorite things in the entertainment industry all in one new friend.

Dan Payne of Stargate and Human Target hosted a game of Stargate Jeopardy which was pretty hilarious. He was a great host. He made a lot of jokes about being illiterate. He called it a game for readers – and later a game for women, as the one male contestant was consistently getting no points.He knew some of the answers, but he didn’t say them in the form of a question.

If no one got the questions correct, then the audience would yell out the correct answers, though some even the audience didn’t get. I was a bit disappointed when none of the contestants recognized that the actor who went along with the quote, “Can I get a hell yeah?” was Ben Browder. I suppose they aren’t Farscape fans, though. The table next to mine made me feel better when they yelled it out with me after no one answered.

After this, we were given a screening of some Stargate SG-1 bloopers, as well as some video clips of some of the actors. David Hewlett appeared in My Secret Identity, which was really old. It was actually kind of hard to recognize him at first. Also, I think all that needs to be said is: Richard Dean Anderson in a band. That was epic!

We also saw a few fan-made videos such as the South Park rendition of Stargate SG-1. There were a few of the scheduled guests who could not make it being they were working late at their studio acting jobs and we were sad that they could not make this fun event.

After the party ended we stayed to continue chatting with a few people until we had to leave. NaddyCat gave me a ride back to my hotel and drove Genevieve and Brianna home. We made plans to meet up another time this weekend. This party was a great way to kick start the weekend. If it’s any indication, this convention is going to rock!
