CW Network Banner - Click to visit the CW!Welcome back fans of The Vampire Diaries! Wasn’t the first episode of Season 3 so exciting?! I am glad it is back and looking forward of what is to come with all of our Mystic Falls’ characters this Fall season on The CW.

The Vampire Diaries Season 3 premiere, “The Birthday”, was full of sorrow, fear, and plenty of lust. “The Birthday” 3×01 episode was rightfully titled so, as it took place with a celebration of the series’ main character making the transition from young girl to entering adulthood. Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is finally of age and is starting to realize life is not going to be easy without her parents and her Aunt Jenna Sommers (Sara Canning) being able to be there for her any longer.

The Vampire Diaries S3x01 - Feeding by the Fire

With her Aunt Jenna being killed off at the end of Season 2, Elena is having to grow up even faster and become the parent figure that her younger brother, Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen), so desperately needs. Speaking of Jeremy, is it just me or does Steve R. McQueen seem a bit more buff this season? Either way, he surely is looking hot! Lucky for us fans, there is not a shortage of the amount of hot guys on The Vampire Diaries!

The Vampire Diaries S3x01 - Hot Guys and Gals

First, a little background information to refresh your memory: In Season 1, we found out that John Gilbert (David Anders) was actually Elena’s biological father. In Season 2, John made the ultimate sacrifice and died to save Elena’s life. Even worse, her biological mother, Isobel Flemming (Mia Kirshner), told Elena that there was a time when she dreamed of meeting her child and getting to know her.

The Vampire Diaries S3x01 - A discussion of what is to come

Then Isobel said to Elena, “I am sorry I was such a disappointment to you, Elena.” In a quick and thoughtless act before Elena could even respond back, her mother removed her necklace of which possesses the power to keep vampires safe from the sun instantly burning to her death. Sadly, Elena had to meet the vampire version of Isobel that would sell out her own flesh and blood for her personal gain.

It must have been horrible for Elena to watch her mother turn to ash right before her eyes after hearing Isobel tell her how she dreamed of one day getting to know her. Counting in the loss of her adopted parents that died in a car crash before Season 1 began, Elena is now left without any family, besides her younger brother. Elena can only count upon herself anymore as her childhood ends.

Now back to what happened in this first episode of Season 3; Elena’s birthday was spent with all of her closest friends (and then some!) at a crowded, house party blow-out in her honor. Elena’s best friend, Caroline Forbes’ (Candice Accola) has spent a lot of time putting together this party for Elena to celebrate her 18th birthday. Caroline’s somewhat normal personality returns in the season opener. I love the “let’s go shopping” and “let’s have a party” Caroline. I missed that girly, social butterfly charm of Caroline that had not been there much in Season 2.

I am sure that Elena was not really worried about her birthday in the least though. With having Stefan and her dead family on the brain, it is hard to imagine her celebrating anything really. Elena put on a smile, but she could not seem to get her mind off of her missing-in-action boyfriend, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley).

Elena’s thoughts were consumed with what Stefan could possibly be doing and where could he be. Older brother, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), knew exactly what Stefan was up to, because he had been secretly tracking his every move. Damon had a marked map of Stefan’s probable locations, based on suspicious newspaper clippings from various murders around the nation.

In a scene outside, away from the party crowd, Damon explained to Alaric Saltzman (Mathew Davis), former vampire hunter but now ally, that he kept this information about Stefan from Elena to protect her and keep her from getting her hopes up. I feel that Damon loves Elena so much that he does not want to see her get hurt once again.

Stefan is missing from Mystic Falls and Elena’s side for a good reason though. In the end of Season 2, Stefan had agreed to turn back into the evil killer he once was, nicknamed “The Ripper,” in a pact to join sides with Klaus (Joseph Morgan), one of the Originals. In the agreement, Stefan is to be Klaus’ right hand man in exchange that Klaus will keep away from the ones Stefan loves. Stefan gave up his freedom and morals to save his brother, Damon, from dying of a lethal werewolf bite. Klaus has turned Stefan back into a cold-blooded killer and couldn’t be more pleased with himself. You can definitely tell Klaus is enjoying the “bad” side of Stefan and the ego-boost from having him do his dirty work.

The show opens up in the countryside of Tennessee with Klaus ordering Stefan to murder two college-aged girls after questioning them for the location of a werewolf named Ray Sutton (David Gallagher, perhaps you remember him from The CW associated show, 7th Heaven). Before Stefan murders the girls, they finally answer that Ray can be found at a little bar in Tully, TN called Southern Comfort.

After the vicious attack, the duo make their way to the bar. When Stefan and Klaus catch up to Ray Sutton, they found a very uncooperative werewolf. They compel everyone in the whole bar and set out on torturing Ray in a sadistic game of darts until he eventually gives up on where to find the pack master.

Flipping back to the Salvatore Mansion and let me just say, there is no better way to open a scene with Damon Salvatore than to have him in a tub covered in bubbles! I am a huge Ian Somerhalder fan so this definitely kept me watching! It almost seemed as if Damon and local reporter, Andie Star (Dawn Olivieri) were maybe an actual couple. Does Damon actually care for Andie? It really looked like he did to me.

Damon hears something and actually stood up out of the bathtub and walked downstairs naked! Thanks to “perfectly” placed bottles and candles, the producers kept this delicious scene rated “no nudity” for the audience. Dang! And what a fantastic coincidence for just at this right time for Elena to come over to visit Damon only to turn around to find him standing naked behinds her! Great scene and her expressions were priceless! Elena actually covered her eyes!

It turned out the reason for Elena’s visit was that she had a small lead to give Damon that Sheriff Liz Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre), Caroline’s mother, had given to her about finding dead animals in Memphis, TN. Damon assured Elena that it was a dead end, but did not elaborate any further.

Fast forward to Elena’s birthday party and it seemed everyone was having fun and dancing, all but a sullen Elena. Caroline Forbes and Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) seemed to be getting closer this episode. The two realized after a very blunt conversation at the party that they both suffered from the same thing: lack of sex with a heightened libido due to their supernatural transformations. It did not take either one of them long to figure out all they needed to do was leave the party and start one of their own!

I was so happy to see Caroline and Tyler finally together. What a steamy, love scene it was too! It definitely did not lack any hotness whatsoever! The show has never revealed, but can vampires have babies? Could Caroline give birth to a new hybrid? Is it a possibility? As Caroline sneaks out of bed to head home, Tyler’s mother,

Carol Lockwood (Susan Walters) catches our “Vampire Barbie” in her “walk of shame” and questions what she is doing there. A flabbergasted Caroline has no answers to give during this awkward situation and as she turns to leave, in a completely surprising moment, Mrs. Lockwood shoots her in the back with vervain, an herb that can be deadly to vampires. So is Caroline dead? I really hope not. I wonder why Mrs. Lockwood would do this or what tipped her off about Caroline being a vampire. Hopefully we will see where that and other things may go in Season 3.

After Stefan and Klaus got the answer of the location from Ray Sutton that they needed, Klaus had Stefan go take care of Damon and get him off of their trail. With how sweet Stefan has always been, I would have never suspected he would use Andie as bait. Leaving her terrified and compelled, Stefan waited for Damon to show up.

His plan was that when Andie did not show for Elena’s birthday party, Damon would of course come looking for her and that he did. Once he arrived, Stefan came out of the darkness and showed Damon what he had done with Andie. Stefan compelled her and has her standing on a platform at least 20 ft in the air. Stefan told Damon to stop tracking him and Klaus and let them be. He had made his choice to partner with Klaus and wanted Damon to forget about him. After making his point to Damon, he compelled Andie to jump to her death. Point made!

Afterwards, Damon returned home to find that Elena had been snooping through his room and found his articles and maps on where he thought Stefan might be. Furious, Elena demanded why Damon kept this information from her. It was simple, he loves her! Those eyes he is constantly making at her, gives it away. She is just as much to blame for this with the eyes she makes at Damon as well. Let us not forget about the kiss in the Season 2 season finale “As I Lay Dying.” This reminds me, where is Katherine? I can’t wait for that devious girl to come back!

Back to the party and after some bonding time over weed, Jeremy and Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) decide to leave. Matt sees a ghostly flash of Vicki Donovan (Kayla Ewell) in his car and says her name out loud which perked Matt’s curiosity. Jeremy confessed to Matt that he had been seeing Vicki and when he saw her she had asked for help. What does Vicki need help with? She is already dead.

Hopefully in the next few episodes we will find out why Jeremy has been seeing Vicki and Anna (Malese Jow), both ex-girlfriends of his. Maybe his near death experience brought forth a new supernatural on The Vampire Diaries. One could only hope! Is this a result of Bonnie Bennett’s (Kat Graham) spell that saved Jeremy’s life gone sour? This season will be a wild ride for sure!

The season premiere ended with Alaric leaving Elena and Jeremy’s house. He had been staying there with the Gilbert’s for a while. Alaric has been feeling that he is not parent material, because he drinks too much and cannot seem to get his life together since the death of Jenna. I was hoping that Alaric would step up and be that father figure that Jeremy and Elena need. In the end, it is left up to Elena to be that person for Jeremy.

    Content from The CW

At the very end, we find a crushed Elena in her bedroom reflecting quietly in her own thoughts. All Elena wanted for her birthday was to see Stefan, some sign that Stefan was still alive and cared for her. As her birthday was coming to an end, Elena got a call from an unknown caller. Hmm… I wonder who that could be? You guessed it, Stefan! Even though he could not speak, Elena just knew that it was Stefan. Elena told him she loved him and to hold on to that. A bittersweet, yet perfect ending for Elena’s 18th birthday!

  • Warehouse 13 “Buried” S2x11 Review and Analysis with Full Episode Video!

    Warehouse 13 Banner

    Welcome back Warehouse 13 fans,

Last episode, we saw what “Time Travel” really meant. One did not physically travel back to another time past, rather, their consciousness New SyFy Logo Chain Linksinhabited the body and mind of someone in the past.

While Myka and Pete were back in 1961, they inhabited the bodies and minds of Jack and Rebecca, who were Warehouse agents themselves and were investigating the murders of four women by a Jonah Raitte.

Our crew of heroes Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti), Mrs. Frederick (CCH Pounder), Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek), Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly), H.G. Wells (Jamie Murray), and Pete Latimer (Eddie McClintock) were stunned to say the least!

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Jonah Raitte Photo

But Jonah Raitte was not, in fact the killer. His wife, Beth was. She was vanquished by Myka/Rebecca and Peter/Jack hid the artifact in a cherry orchard which Peter in the modern day retrieved for the return to the warehouse.

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Pete with artifact today

Rebecca St. Clair was dying of cancer and H.G. Wells and the team gave her the last gift of seeing Jack again by placing her into the young Rebecca…. only for a few minutes. Despite repeated attempts by Pete Lattimer, the events of the past could not be altered. This saddened Peter, as he had hoped to perhaps save one of the murder victims. He, like everyone else, learned the ink in which the events of the past, are indelible.

As we know, H.G. Wells’ (Jamie Murray) daughter was killed during a home invasion robbery in 1899 and we are treated to the knowledge that Helena herself did go back in time to ‘deal with’ her daughter’s killers. Helena also mentioned that this ‘time travel’ happens randomly in nature. but her ‘Temporal Consciousness Engine’ when applied, would last for 22 hours and 19 minutes.

    “Buried”

This episode opens with Pete serving breakfast to his new love Kelly. A bit of fun banter ensues over Peter only having one banana to split between them. She points out if they were at her place, they’d have had a better breakfast. HA HA! Pete agreed and she swipes BOTH halves of the banana as she walks out of the dining room.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Pete And Myka

Later, Peter is at the Warehouse and talking about Kelly and getting more serious. Helena is there and says, “I have nothing against the opposite sex, most of my lovers were men…” As she smiles at them. Peter appears a bit uncomfortable and we move along to Kelly. Myka asked him “Do you Love her?”

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Peter gets razzed

During the banter, Mrs. Fredrick seems – again – to appear out of nowhere. She reminds Peter that he is allowed to share the true nature of their work with only ONE person in their lives. So the question is not whether he moves in with Dr. Hernandez, but “Is she your ‘One’?”.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Alexandra, Egypt

Now, we are in the beautiful city of Alexandria, Egypt and in a marketplace, we’re enjoying this time with three young men. One of them – spying three attractive women -says he may just start a harem. Another one of them is trying to text his kid sister and finally has a signal. One of the others reminds him: “Dude! No phone calls!” John says “It’s my kid sister. She’s eight! Who’s she going to tell?”

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Three Students

The other man says “No one’s supposed to know we’re here…” tries to continue when he is suddenly very, very dry and coughs. He punches back water and is unable to speak as we see he is drying up in front of us. Soon, we see the other boys are also desiccating as they try to get help for their friend… and then for themselves. The effects were good enough to be a bit unnerving.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Desiccated Student2

At the Warehouse, Mrs. Fredrick starts to also have problems. -Back in Egypt, another of our trio also begins to become completely dried out amidst screams and chaos in the marketplace..Mrs. Fredrick, back in the warehouse begins to speak the words “Uds Pookah s’fet” (I spelled it phonetically…I’m not fluent on Ancient languages like Demotic-the language of Ancient Egypt) over and over.

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Mrs. Frederick speaks Demotic

A deep, Male voice seems to join with hers. According to the translation Claudia finds in their computer, it means “The Penalty Is Death”. Peter asks “What, do you have this thing set on ‘Extra Scary’?…” As they start to look at the possibility of artifacts in the warehouse from Egypt, a news brief from the State Department flashes up about the deaths of three American Students in Alexandria, Egypt. From their first showing of symptoms, their deaths were almost immediate.

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - News On the Students

In Pittsburgh, PA, at the home of one of the students, Peter and Myka, with Helena are trying to find out what the boys were doing in Egypt. According to John Dempsey’s Mother, the boys were not even supposed to be in Egypt. They were supposed to be on an archeological dig in Peru. Mrs. Dempsey says maybe she should call Terry and Rod’s parents… and starts to cry… “What happened to our children?” Myka promised her they will find out.

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - At The Dempsey Home

Meanwhile, Helena sees the little sister coming down the stairs and goes to her. Gently, Helena finds out the little girl’s name is “Gabrielle” (Gabby) and gets to see the family’s computer. She gets the picture of John in Egypt which he had texted to Gabby right before he died. Myka shows the image to the warehouse team on her Farnsworth and hieroglyphics on the wall behind john seem to strike everyone. Myka is ordered to bring her team back and is disconnected by Mrs. Frederick. Turns out the symbols are actually markers of “Warehouse 2”!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - John Dempsey photo

Apparently, “Warehouse 2” woke up and is trying to find its’ caretaker. Peter is astounded at the thought of the warehouses being like a living being. Mrs. Frederick tells him “You know by now the warehouses are more Organic than your average structure..!” Warehouse 2, now awakened sees Mrs. Frederick as its’ caretaker because it would tie to the current caretaker of the Warehouses. That is why she started to speak Demotic. In 31 B.C. when the Romans attacked, the agents of the time did not have time to take artifacts and leave the warehouse properly, so they wound up burying it.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Artie Decifers

Artie and Claudia go to a room where all the documentation of the past warehouses are kept. Looking at the photo of John Dempsey and the wall behind him, Artie deciphers what the hieroglyphics mean. Turns out, the three students apparently broke the seal and woke Warehouse 2. That’s why they dessicated as they did. Warehouse 2 is back online and while it exists and gets stronger, Warehouse 13 will begin to die. “So we need to find Warehouse 2 and shut it down.” Claudia concluded.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Meet Mr. Valda

Back in Alexandria, Myka and Peter meet Mr. Valda. One of the Regents to assist them in Egypt. They drive off to the Valley of Alam Mafaza. This was the location of Warehouse 2. Makes me wonder who set these Warehouses up, and what the heck was the very first warehouse like?

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Warehouse 2

It looks as if they are at an archeology dig campsite. Clothes left out and other things tell the agents that the dead students had planned on returning to the camp. In one of the tents, Mr. Valda and Peter find a map of the local area.”Where on earth did they get this?” asked Mr. Valda.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Map at campsite

Peter said: “Looks like they thought they were going to get rich” Mr. Valda replied: “Instead they got a facefull of deadly hematite and natron. basically, they were mummified alive” But that’s nothing compared to the challenges that await us within.” Three word always come up in dealing with Warehouse 2; Mind, Body, Soul. Mr. Valda shows the other the key which will shut down Warehouse 2 once they get inside.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - The Key

Helena needs some advise of what the fashionable British Archeologist wears to such event! This picture was very cute! I love some of the ‘comic relief’ in this show. one starts to really get serious, then they throw something in like this. Helena said she was wearing what the fashionable Archeologist would wear. Myka corrected her, telling her this what what movie producers THINK the fashionable Archeologist should wear!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Helena-Fashion Victim

Back in the warehouse 13, Mrs. Fredrick is wired to headgear, which is trying to override the input of Warehouse 2. Beside her is a machine – in usual ‘Warehouse’ tech (Read “Steam Punk”). On the round screen of the gizmockus is a moon. As the moon is ‘eclipsed’ this indicates how much of Mrs. Frederick’s mind is being eclipsed by Warehouse 2.  Frederick’s eyes become wide as the Demotic speaking begins again.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Mrs. Frederick neurocap

Our team in Egypt has now gained entry to Warehouse 2 and it looks spectacular! Peter references the King Tut exhibits and how this puts those exhibits to shame! In the large great hall are posts, Obelisks, if you will, standing in parts of the floor. One Spot in the floor has no obelisk in it.   Unfortunately, the Warehouse’s defenses are active and the huge room shuts our heroes in as the ceiling starts to lower! It will crush our team if it is somehow unstopped!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Great Hall WH2

Based on a game called “Pancakes” Peter figures out the posts in the floor must be removed in order before the ceiling touched them. Then the right one has to be be stood in a certain spot. He’s right, the post stops the ceiling. Now, these posts must weigh quite a lot. I am impressed by the teams’ fitness and they move these about!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Playing "Pancakes" 2

As they are moving the Obelisks about, Mrs. Frederick is again speaking the ghostly language of Ancient Egypt. Artie is growing more and more concerned for her. She could in fact, Die if the second warehouse takes over her her mind!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Artie Worries

It is during this that we return to Warehouse 2 and we see the final Obelisk placed into the floor. The ceiling touches it and stops!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - They did it!

Just as they feel relief at this victory, a door opens to a hallway. As they go to it, they see very sharp, deadly blades swinging up into the floor…Which would cut someone to pieces if one did not know how to get through it. The blades, being assisted by bursts of flame make this a rather precarious task! Peter thinks the hieroglyphics are code for how to get through the hall.

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Hall Of Blades and fire

Back at the Warehouse 13, Vanessa (Dr. Caulder)  returns to see Artie. Mrs. Frederick is still fighting the second warehouses’ input. We see the moon is eclipsing quite rapidly as Mrs Frederick grows weaker and weaker! Vanessa is there, hopefully to try to help her, or to assist in the transition to another who would become a Warehouse agent…Succeeding Mrs. Frederick.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Vanessa and Artie

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Mrs. Frederick getting eclipsed

Back in Egypt, the Hall is still ablaze with the blades coming up constantly. Helena has an idea and fires a shot to send a cable down the hall to the other side. She affixes it to their side and they start across as an echo sounds the word “One Must Die” in Demotic.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Helena Fires cable

Valda tells Peter “The Water Bearer holds the key” as he tosses the key to Peter and assures Peter that he’s right behind him. As they get across, they see Valda is staying back and the cable is on fire. Peter wants to go back and get him, but Valda yells back “NO! You come back, we both will die! ‘Moot-Kah’Tu’  ONE must die! This is as it must be! Now, GO!” Mr. Valda falls into the flames. Alone again, without their guide, our trio is now going with Helena thru another door.

Dr. Caulder, Vanessa, is now with Mrs. Frederick and it is clear she is there for Frederick. “Your neurofunctions are dropping Vanessa tells Mrs. Frederick. The headgear starts to act up and Vanessa asks if Mrs. Frederick is in pain. As Mrs. Frederick hisses “Yessssss!” she is bending a metal chair arm with amazing strength. Vanessa says “Her connection with Warehouse 2 is getting stronger. Artie tells Claudia to use his Farnsworth to try to reach the team in Egypt, but she can’t. “I have a feeling their Farnsworths are out of range.” At this point, Artie has to go check on something, and Mrs. Frederick starts to speak in Demotic again. Claudia gets the translation: “Where once there were four, now there are three.”…More word and the translation: “And two will lose their way.”

Helena holding the torch aloft enters what appears to be another sub-chamber, like a temple with a large face in stone on the main wall.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Second Test

As the others follow, We hear the voices of their loved ones talking to them. Helena hears her deceased daughter, Peter hears Kelly and Myka hears a male voice. Suddenly, we are in the 1800’s and Helena is with her daughter – now alive. Peter is with Kelly, kissing her passionately and Myka is back at the modern Warehouse accepting a cup of Americano coffee from Artie. All of these we know are illusions and all three of our heroes are with those they love as if they are no longer in Egypt at all.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Pete's False Reality

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Helena's False Reality

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Medusa's eyes

But we know they are very much in Egypt, their minds are where they want to be. Helena is embracing her daughter and is overjoyed to be with her again, Peter sees Kelly and tells her “It’s you!” Kelly say “It’s me, I’m right here” Peter says “No, it’s you… You’re the One!” Myka, meanwhile is being given an assignment from Artie in the false reality. Back in Egypt, the face on the wall has glowing eyes. Helena promises her daughter “I’ll never leave you!”. As the statue’s eyes glow through the scenarios, Peter confesses the nature of his job. Kelly tells him “That’s OK. I will always be right here for you and I can keep your secret because I love you!”. We see them in the Chamber looking entranced….As the floor starts to crack under them.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Floor crumbles

The glowing eyes seem to suspend them all in a hypnotic state as the floor starts to fall away. Our trio starts to notice an odd, red light in their scenarios: A glowing brooch on Christina’s doll, an Exit sign in the Warehouse with Artie and a large red square in Kelly’s room with Peter.

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Reality Calls to HG

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - False Reality Myka

This seems to draw our heroes back to reality and Myka’s the first to start questioning the reality. “This… isn’t … real” she says … She begins to shout in the chamber and the others are still entranced. Myka shouts and gets the others to come around as they do they all look into the face of the Medusa!Myka throws her torch into the eyes of the Gorgon.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Medusa struck

The eyes grow firey and then dark and then the face turns up into the wall, the floor becomes sound again and where the Medusa’s face was is a doorway.Peter realizes that Kelly is ‘The One’ he can share his secret with. Helena is most upset and cries for her daughter. Myka comforts her and reminds her of the task at hand.

Vanessa is with Mrs. Frederick and talk of what is to happen if she dies. Claudia refuses to even consider this possibility.  A new Warehouse Agent must be appointed while she is still alive. Claudia is the best one to be chosen for this, apparently. Mrs. Frederick starts to speak Demotic again, but now no translation. Out trio has reached the Ancient “Office” of Warehouse 2.This is where the Ancient’s “Artie” would have done business.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - In The Main Office WH2

They look out over the vastness of the Warehouse 2 and see an amazing shimmering light out in the center. Helena says it is safe to assume that is what is effecting Mrs. Frederick. She tells the other to wait and lowers her torch into a well in the office. This starts an oil fire which travels about the warehouse and we see the beautiful illumination travel to light the whole place.

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Oil illuminates

Peter sees a wonderful Astronomy wall, as I would call it. Holes in a wall, allowing pinpoints of light into the room, but to me seems to mean the stars. Hmmm… “The Water Bearer”- Aquarius? Look for Aquarius and they have the key! Peter and Myka go to the pinpoints as Helena takes off to check out the warehouse….Or is she?

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Night Sky

Granted, the view out over the inside of THIS Warehouse is spectacular as it does indeed Come alive

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Lightening and orb

Back at Warehouse 13, time is running out for Mrs. Frederick. Vanessa tells Claudia there’s no time left. We see scenes of images and what I think is data coming to Mrs. Frederic’s brain and she starts to speak Demotic again. Vanessa wraps an iridescent green band around Mrs. Frederick’s wrist.

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Preparing for Agent transfer

Mrs Frederick is receiving the data download from Warehouse 2. It is all the things in Warehouse 2 and is happening very rapidly on the screen

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Mrs. Frederick gets download

Holding the other end out, apparently for Claudia’s wrist to also be wrapped. Back in Egypt, Peter and Myka stand at the wall Peter is clicking on to what the wall is. They figure it out, as Vanessa tells Claudia to give her her wrist. As Vanessa is wrapping the band around Claudia’s wrist,…

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Claudia is readied

Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Placing key to Aquarius

The key is placed in Aquarius and it has indeed shut down the Warehouse! Mrs. Frederick commands “STOP!” She is back! I think at this point even Claudia looked very relieved.

In Warehouse 2, Helena shouts “Myka! You have to see this!”…. She sounds very concerned about something she sees in the main warehouse!

    Vanessa is leaving now.

Claudia is being told by Vanessa she sill be ready to be an agent someday, and Vanessa leaves. Mrs. Frederick is now requesting to be debriefed and about what happened while she was ill. Claudia is telling her about those students who went to Egypt without anyone knowing not being rich enough to do this on their own. Could they have been hired by someone to find Warehouse 2 and it was someone with long arms and deep pockets. “If I find the source, I find the bad guy.” Claudia finished. Claudia mentions that Artie has been gone for hours now.  Mrs. Frederick tells her the search came up with something: “I got a Ping?” Claudia asks. “You got a Ping…” Mrs. Frederick replies as she shows Claudia the computer screen. The money used for their search came from Warehouse 13! And if you read the screen, You will know WHO got the money out!

    Warehouse 13 S2x11 - Money came from WH13

Back in Egypt, Peter and Myka go to Helena and starts to tell her excitedly about the night sky map and how they fixed the warehouse. Peter starts with “I did it… well, WE did it…!” Helena says softly as she stands with her back to them “I do hope you can forgive me” as she turns to them, holding a warehouse gun on them. She stuns them both. They fall to the ground, unconscious!!

My Take… For what it is worth

I will not say I told you so, because I did not see this coming either. H. G. Wells had me fooled as well, because I had had hopes she was in fact a good one. Seems she has an agenda of her own and we will have to wait until the next Episode “Reset” to find out what she has planned for the Warehouse 13 operatives!

I enjoyed the heck out of this episode. Loved the rich historical location of Egypt and seeing how far back in history Warehouses have actually existed. This show with all the artifacts and historical figures is one of the best around. We will have to see how Peter, Myka, Claudia and Arte, Let alone the Regents can stop the now known to be evil H. G.Wells!

Warehouse 13 returns this evening July 11, 2011 at 9 PM E/P 8 PM central on Syfy with “The New Guy”. In the meantime, we include the full “Buri3ed” episode courtesy of Syfy via Hulu. Enjoy!

  • Warehouse 13 “Where And When” S1x10 Review, Analysis and Full Episode Video!

    Warehouse 13 Banner

    Welcome back Warehouse 13 fans!

In past episodes, we see that a mystery woman, Rebecca St. Clair (Roberta Maxwell) was found and a mystery about a Warehouse Agent New SyFy Logo Chain Linksknown as Jack was solved. Rebecca turned out to also be a Warehouse Agent. A ring found in the room where Jack stayed showed he was going to choose his Rebecca over the Warehouse after all. All this much to the surprise of Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti), Mrs. Frederick (CCH Pounder), Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek), Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly), H.G. Wells (Jamie Murray),  and Pete Latimer (Eddie McClintock).

After the short recap about a debronzing of a historical figure, we find out H.G.Wells actually a woman. Her daughter Christina was murdered and she felt she has lost everything important in her life, except the Warehouse. She was once an Agent at Warehouse 12. She petitioned to be re-hired as a Warehouse Agent,  then after proving herself to be loyal was reinstated as a Warehouse Agent much to the chagrin of Artie. Artie says he will never trust H.G. Wells again!

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - H.G. Wells debronze log

    “Where and When”

We open in Green Bay, WI in 1961. A woman is running for her life down what appears to be a residential street. A hooded person confronts her and we see in shadow her stabbing…. Then a strange occurrence, she seems to turn into glass.. Two other people are witnessing this oddity and when the woman has become transparent, the attacker pushes her to the ground. Her now fully transparent form falls backwards.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Glass Girl in 1961

A glass shatters to the floor in the warehouse and Claudia sweeps up the debris as H.G. Wells looks on. “I make you nervous, darling?” H.G. Wells asks politely. “Nervous?” Claudia asks as she works. “Why would I be nervous…? You’re…not… Evil, you’re part of the Team now…!” as Artie comes in with folders about their new assignment.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Morning meeting

A bit of a row develops after Arties’ abrasiveness rubs off on Helena and the others. As they all start in about Helena and the warehouse, a voice rings out “Excuse me…” They turn to see Rebecca. “So, Are you kids still in the Artifact finding business?”

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Are you still ..

Rebecca brings out information about a man who in 1961 was the editor of a magazine called “Where and When”. He also murdered three of his secretaries. Jonah Ross was actually Jonah Raitte died of natural causes in 1981, but the murders were done with an artifact that altered the body chemistry of the victims: Blood, bone, etc… were all turned to glass.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Jonah Raitte Photo

The artifact was never found, and Jack and Rebecca both had a time loss experience simultaneously. H. G. Wells asked Rebecca if it was 24 hours. Rebecca replied that it was 22 hours and 19 minutes. The next scene shows H.G. and the others in her section of Warehouse 13 as H.G. is opening a crate there. Rebecca asks her “What does it mean?”

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Someone Used my Time Machine

H.G. turns to her saying “It means someone used my time machine.”… OK, Then! Looks like some more fun to be had with time distortion. The scene returns after the introduction music and Helena is explaining the time machine isn’t a vehicle like it was in her novel, “Physical Time travel is an impossibility!” “So it’s not a Time machine.” says Pete.

Helena replies “It’s a temporal consciousness transfer engine. That means to traverse the space-time continuum using one’s mind.” What this means basically, is that one from this time could actually go to the mind of someone in another time and live a day in that time. Feel what they feel, see what they see. The person you are in a sense ‘Inhabiting’ blacks out and remembers nothing.

So, it is not an actual physical manifestation of you, winding up in a 1920’s saloon or anything.  Well, heck! I would have loved to go back to 1964 and place an iPad or modern Laptop on a table at NASA or something! Maybe go back in time and buy up a load of IBM stock for myself! Guess I would have to make sure to inhabit someone rich, buy a bit of IBM and lock it away in my modern name to redeem today.

Okay, Okay, back to the show..

While still in the “H.G. Wells section” Claudia finds a letter and something else that does not look like it belongs there. The letter reads: “Dear Charlie, Do me a favour and put this in the H.G. Wells Storage area. Don’t ask about it, don’t bring it up, Trust me. — Jack” Rebecca says “That’s not Jack’s handwriting”.  “I know,” says Pete “It’s mine…!”

Myka is now coming down the stairs in the house and sees Artie sitting, waiting. He says she does not have to tag along. We can tell Artie is not very happy with Myka because she supported Helena being reinstated as a Warehouse agent. The fact that he never trusted McPhearson and McPhearson debronzed H.G. Wells and did not in fact ‘Have Artie’s back’ still rankles Artie. After a small quarrel, Artie say that he will handle this one on his own and walks out.

Back in the Warehouse, Myka returns and tells the others Artie has gone to check out Raittes’ apartment on his own. She sees their expressions and says “What?” We now watch a couple in 1960’s clothes and hairdos on a video.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Alternate Pete & Myka in 1961

It is Pete and Myka. Myka is inside Rebecca’s brain and Pete is in Jacks’. Pete references a line from Total Recall. Their banter in a sense proves they are indeed Pete and Myka. Pete was going to tell what the artifact actually is when the tape breaks. “Maybe we should wait until Artie comes back.” Myka says. Rebecca points out the longer they wait, another person’s life is in danger.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Myka get H.G. Wells' Headgear

Now we watch as Helena places headgear on both Pete and Myka’s heads. Rebecca remembers how she had awakened in an orchard with Jack kissing her after their blackout. It was after this case that the two of them fell in love with each other. At this point Pete asks “What happens if something happens to Jack and Rebecca while we’re in their minds?” Meaning what if something kills Jack or Rebecca. Helena says “I suspect your minds will be lost… forever.”

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Pete gets headgear

She and the others all look about at each other. “Hoping not!” Helena says as she places the headgear onto Pete. “I can’t change the past” Helena says to him “But maybe you can” “So…” Pete says “Is there like a big countdown?” Helena replies “Nope!” as she pulls the switch. The platform with Pete and Myka starts to turn ever faster and the clock winds back into a sea of white.

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Going back in time

Pete (As Jack) and Myka (As Rebecca) are in an old newsroom setting. Cigarette smoke fills the air, The clatter of typewriters and muttering reporters blends in with the strains of “Why Haven’t I Told you?” on a radio.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Myka & Pete see themselves

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - 1961 Newsroom

They look at themselves in the glass of a curio cabinet and realize they made it. They were Jack and Rebecca in 1961. Their boss Charlie Martin comes over to snidely ask if they are done fixing their hair and nails.  Ultimately Charlie tells them “I need you in Calcutta. You’re off the Glass Girl case. if another Glass Girl turns up I’ll get back to you.”

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Armin Shimmerman as Charlie

He leans over his desk “This is on direct order of Mrs. Fredrick! That lady terrifies me!” Rebecca and Jack talk him into one more day. Oh, and they will need all Charlie has on Jonah Raitte.

Jack and Rebecca (Pete and Myka go off on separate ways to try to spot the Artifact. A fun scene of a typing pool with the typing music mixed with the clatter of old typewriters lightens the mood. All the references to 1961 with the music and ‘Steaks for a dollar’ is actually pretty cool!

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - 1961 Street

Rebecca is trying to make an old tape recorder work and acts very flustered when another secretary comes to her. “First day?” she asks. Myka recognizes her as Roxanne. Jack is at the Raitte home, being let in by Jona’s wife.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Roxanne

Jack has used the Secret service ploy and is “Clearing the area for a presidential visit”. While in her home, he remembers the tale of Raitte and the four dead women.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - In Raitte Home

Jack is getting a bit personally invested. Talking to people knowing they are hours from being killed can do that.

Back at the Warehouse, Power fluctuations and Helena becomes a bit nervous. We also see Rebecca is having pain. She is not well. Claudia growing concerned asks Rebecca what is wrong.  She had too much pain to reply, We next see Rebacca resting on a couch and Artie holds up a bottle of medication. Artie had gone through her handbag and found a cancer drug, Erlotinib.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Rebecca Sick

Seems most Warehouse agents do not live long enough to die from Cancer, but Rebecca accepts the prognosis of “Grim… and that’s optimistic” She says to Artie. “I always said I would find that artifact, if it was the last thing I did.” Artie clasped her hand and said “Rebecca.. We’ll find it!” He really seems to care very much for Rebecca. It is a special bond with Warehouse Agents.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Artie Found Meds

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - We'll Find it!-Artie

Meanwhile it is found out by our daring duo in 1961 from Charlie that Raitte had taken tax deductions of a separate residence on Hoover street. Roxanne had been murdered on Hoover Street! Jack and Rebecca go to try to stop her murder (They were the two people who witnessed her killing I had mentioned at the beginning of this episode)…

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - We'll Find it!-Artie Charlie tells about other house

They meet Roxanne on Hoover street and try to stop her, but she is frightened and runs off, right to the hooded figure who stabs her. She shatters as she hits the sidewalk.  Just as Raitte pulls up to see the two of them standing over the pile of glass. IT IS NOT RAITTE WHO IS KILLING THE WOMEN!!

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Roxanne scared

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Roxanne as glass girl

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Raitte pulls up

At the Warehouse, Artie has found a clot in the power supply. He throws a switch to stop the current. This jeopardizes Pete and Myka’s Lives! He does not know what he has done!

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Artie finds power drain

Raitte and Rebecca with Pete are now told by Raitte that he was never sleeping with the women, he was trying to take over the magazine with their help. Raitte actually valued the women highly and felt they could really shine in a company that would appreciate their abilities! He thought the other two women, Meredith and Ruth were off in Los Angeles, but is shocked to learn they too are dead.  “We have to get to Beth! Before it’s too late” Pete (Jack) tells Raitte and they all run to the car.

Back at the Warehouse, Artie is confronted by Claudia and Helena about what his switch-flipping could have done. Artie is dead set against Helena, claiming she is trying to kill Pete and Myka. It becomes quite a snarl when Rebecca’s soft voice tells Artie “I asked them to do this, so if you want to kill the one responsible, Fire away.”standing defiantly up to Artie.

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Smiling Beth at Jonah

Artie is still as Helena gets up and said they had to get this sorted out. “If we don’t fix this, we’ll lose them… They’ll die!” She tells Artie Stand over me, watch my every move… But let me save them” Artie looks at Helena intently as he says “If they die…I won’t bother rebronzing you….What do you need?” “A new power source!” Helena replies and they go off to try to fix this.

Back at the Raitte Residence, the trio rush into the house and Jonah calls out for his wife …who does not answer. He turns to Jack and Rebecca “She’s not here. That’s good, right?” “Why is it good, Jonah?” Beth asks as she enters the room, smiling. Jonah Holds her in a tight embrace and says “I was so worried about you!” She stepped back still smiling saying “You shouldn’t be, I tried to make it so you’d never have to worry!… Ever! that we’d always be OK”

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Then Fire Away!

Rebecca/Myka is staring… she knows something is very wrong. Raitte tells his wife about Meredith, Roxanne and Ruth having been killed. Beth looks over at Rebecca saying “So, you went right out and got yourself another whore!” still smiling like the psycho she is becoming in front of us. Raitte stares at Beth “What?!?”  “I took care of the others! And you just bring another one around?” Myka’s got a weapon aimed at Beth now and she said there’s got to be another way.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Myka with gun

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Beth uses Raitte as shield

Beth clocks Jonah, knocking him out. Beth tells Rebecca, “You just… shoot your little ray gun there, and hit my husband!” Pete/Jack grabs Beth from behind and the fight ensues. Beth stabs Pete/Jack in the hand and his arm starts to turn to glass.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Pete's hand turning to glass

Myka/Rebecca tackles Beth and throws her into a china cabinet and frees the artifact from Pete/Jack’s hand, which turns quickly back to normal. Myka/Rebecca and Beth are now fighting and Beth is getting the upper hand until the inevitable sound of a stabbing takes place. Beth falls back and starts to turn to glass.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Beth Stabbed

Raitte sees what is happening to his wife as she says with dying breaths: “I wish you loved me more…” As the glass overtakes Beth, Raitte, brushing beth’s face with his fingertips gently and finally understanding the gravity of what his wife had done exclaims: “Those poor girls!…I wish you’d loved me less…!”  Beth is now completely glasslike. Raitte walks away, When Beth has become entirely glass, Pete/Jack pulls the artifact from Beth and she lays there, shimmering like a diamond – even her clothing has become glass.

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Beth is glass

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Artifact Retreaved!

They plan a way to keep the artifact in hiding until they could retrieve it in the present day. They found a camera in the credenza and make the video they had watched at the Warehouse. Now they are telling Raitte he has to run. The other women and now his wife, She tells him he is the prime suspect. “Where do I go?” He asks them. Myka/Rebecca tells him “St. Louis. Trust me, you’ll be safe in St. Louis” She them hands him the tape in an envelope. “We need you to mail this movie. It’ll clear your name someday.”

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Video to WH13 mailer

The envelope is addressed to the Warehouse 13. They plan to hide the artifact in the Cherry Orchard. So, now we know how Rebecca and Jack woke up in that orchard! As they pull up to the hiding place they recognize from Rebecca’s memories. The Warehouse team is trying to power up the Time machine to bring back Myka and Peter, and they finally try the method of beating a fist down onto the machine. Just like with an old TV set, IT WORKED! Meanwhile, Peter/Jack and Myka/Rebecca dig under the cherry tree to bury the artifact. Jack is trying to leave a note for Rebecca, but are brought back to the present before he can finish it. The note blows away in the wind. Back at the warehouse, Myka and Pete return.

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - All wait for return

After they tell the others they know where the artifact is and it is all getting settled, Rebecca asks if the machine still works. She wants to see Jack again. Helena explains the trip would only last a few moments… and they are not sure they could bring her back. “Why would I want to come back?” Rebecca asks softly. Artie understands exactly what she wants to do.

Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Pete with artifact today

Pete is digging under the tree in the orchard and finds the artifact. Next, we see a news clipping on a computer screen “Rebecca St. Clair, Local Teacher, Dies at 81”

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Rebecca's Obituary

Artie looks sadly at the computer, Myka walks in. Artie tells her “Turns out the artifact is from a Cinderella story. Instead of a handsome prince giving her glass slippers, Cinderella used the knife to… Well” [Edited for children].

    Warehouse 13 S2x10 - Rebecca awakens

We return to the orchard in 1961, and Rebecca wakes up to see Jack laying there, sleeping. Rebecca looks elderly as she rises. She brings out a compact and looks at herself to see her youthful face looking back.

Warehouse 13 S2x10 Rebecca in Youth

Jack wakes up and she tells him “I’ve missed you so much!” Jack replies “What?” and Rebecca kisses him passionately. As she pulls away, we hear a rush of sound and realize that the ‘Modern’ Rebecca has gone. The Rebecca there now has no memory of the last 22:19 hours and she is taken aback. “What are you doing?” “Something I should’ve done a long time ago…” and kissed her again. They fall back into the ground in the orchard. Rebecca is given the second chance we might all wish for. She got to see Jack that last time before she passed on.

My take….For what it is worth

I’m normally well-controlled-emotional, but I was blubbing like a baby with the beautiful music they used in this closing of the episode. This was very well done and should strike a chord in any sentient being

All joking aside, we might all wish to turn back the clock to days of youth and vitality. if it is true what Helena said about inhabiting the mind of another in a past time, I wonder what I would do if I could go back, knowing what I know now. Maybe we cannot change others’ realities, could we in fact change our own? Could I have left a note for myself to find at sixteen, saying: “Yes, you WILL need science and math in life. Study them!” or: “No, the guy you want to date is NOT a good match, he’s a doper”. Wonder if I would have listened to Myself? I sure as heck didn’t regarding my parents or anyone else. I wonder what many of us would have done given a ‘second chance’. There are a lot of things I, for one, would have done differently.

I also liked how Helena said about the memories of being in a different time “Happens randomly in nature”… Perhaps a whole new slant of the “Past Lives” theories?  Hmmmmmm….!
