    Hey Falling Skies fans!

Dreamworks Television - Click to visit and follow Dreamsworks on Twitter!Falling Skies, an apocalyptic science fiction drama from Dreamworks Studios, is entering its second season on TNT. It stars Noah Wyle as a father of three sons doing his best to keep them alive and fighting back against an alien invasion force.

As a teacher of American History, Tom Mason (Wyle’s character) knows all about resistance against a superior enemy invasion force. He uses examples from the American Revolutionary War to teach the others that as long as they keep fighting, there is hope.

Falling Skies S2x02 - Tom Mason flees the enemy aliens.

Falling Skies S1x02 - Noah Wyle as Tom MasonThe history teacher in Tom Mason might not be able to explain it, but Falling Skies has become a very popular show. This series is one of survival in the face of an overwhelming enemy.

According to TNT, “Falling Skies opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family was torn apart. Falling Skies S1x02 - The adult romance between Tom and Anne

Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood) is a pediatrician who becomes the primary medic of the 2nd Mass. Capt. Weaver (Will Patton) plays a fierce leader of the resistance.

The series also stars Drew Roy (Secretariat) as Hal, Tom’s oldest son and a growing fighter in the resistance movement; Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters) as Matt, Tom’s youngest son; Connor Jessup (The Saddle Club) as Ben, Tom’s recently rescued son; and Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds) as Lourdes, a former med student and Dr. Glass’ only support for medical emergencies. Colin Cunningham (Living in Your Car) is John Pope, a rebel who will stop at nothing to kill the aliens.”

One must ask, what is it about Falling Skies that is attracting so much attention? Falling-Skies S1x10 - Tom agrees to board an alien ship to protect his son from the aliens.

Despite premiering on Father’s Day in North America, Falling Skies turned in a winning performance Sunday June 17 with a “Prime Time” victory of 4.5 million live viewers (US only).

Falling Skies scored well for a holiday evening with solid ratings of 1.5 in the critical with adults between 18 to 49 years of age and nearly reaching 2.2 million live adult viewers in the 25 to 54 age group. Not since Stargate SG-1 has a science fiction program attracted so many adult viewers.

Seemingly down 25% from the 2.0 rating earned during the 2011 series launch, overall viewership is expected match the 2011 numbers, increasing to approximately 6 million when “Plus 7” DVR and on-line numbers are factored in.

Falling Skies S3x03 - Planning the attackThis from a public who often time shifts their entertainment viewing to on-line network sources, mobile devices and or recorded sources (DVR) now widely available in many homes. Perhaps even more telling is the huge crowd that joined the Falling Skies cast at the dedicated Falling Skies TNT web site to participate in “2nd Watch”.

2nd Watch is an on-line program web cast that is conducted after the broadcast at the TNT Network web site. 2nd Watch, hosted by Wil Wheaton, set the Twitter and Facebook world on fire Sunday evening as eager fans set off to invade the TNT web site where they can chat and send text messages to the host and guests! Falling Skies S2x01 Confrontation with Pope

In this weeks episode of 2nd Watch, Mpho Koaho (Anthony) and Colin Cunningham (John Pope) will be awesome! Speaking of Pope, this week TNT also launched “Pope’s Blog” featuring insight into the enigmatic “bad boy” portrayed “in character” by Cunningham!

Falling Skies mini banner - Click to visit 2nd Watch! Here is the answer: Stories like the ones told by the TNT writers of Falling Skies attract us because they reflect humanity’s greatest strength, the power of adaptation. As a social animal, people are very curious about how others overcome challenges that might terrify us. We are fascinated by the thought that a person’s attitude can make a difference between life and death.

Falling Skies S2x01 - Tom Mason's friends look after him during his medical emergency

Falling Skies S3x03 - Fighting to survive

But it is more than that. Falling Skies has come along just as problems in the United States and around the world seem to be spinning out of control. The heroes in this show are doing more than just surviving.

They are people who are able to stay calm and reasonable in the face of fear; people who have retained their optimism and determination in spite of great odds. They are survivors focussed on others rather than themselves, either thinking about their families or their fellow survivors.

Falling Skies S3x03 - Weaver and Mason struggle to help the Resistance surviveAnd that, I believe is what makes the show important at this particular time in America. Many Americans are facing challenges known only to their grandparents from the Great Depression often referred to as “the dirty thirties”.

Many today have lost their homes or have gone bankrupt. Many others cannot find jobs. The United States government is basically bankrupt. Horror stories from other countries abound. The world seems to be going crazy.

House Foreclosures: Image courtesy Hernando County Foreclosure ListSo, Americans and others around the word watch television as a means of escape. Comedy helps them feel better for a half hour at a time. Crime dramas produce a feeling that justice can occur and the good guys will win in the end.

Falling Skies has chosen to use a period in American history to support the characters belief that they will prevail over an enemy with better technology and greater numbers. Americans need that. It provides a sense of hope and empathy. “If Tom Mason and his group can survive all these bad things happening to them, maybe we can too”.

Click to visit and learn more about Taylor Clark at his official web site!By watching how others cope with a traumatic event, even if it is fictional, we learn to cope with challenges in our everyday lives. “The biggest difference between our cool-headed heroes and the rest of us is not that those people are somehow fearless; it’s that they relate to their fears in a much more harmonious way than others do. In other words, these poised people have learned to work with their fears rather than against them — they don’t get preoccupied with their nerves or struggle to eradicate their anxiety — and this important shift frees them to focus on the moment and perform their best”, says Taylor Clark, author of the book, Nerve, a book about dealing with fear and stress.

During periods of upheaval, we look more to entertainment to help us feel better about ourselves. For example, during the depression in the 1930’s, popular films at the time were Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz and Frankenstein.

These are all films where a few heroes were forced to overcome what seemed like insurmountable odds in order to survive. I believe that our entertainment often reflects the difficulties that we face as a culture. When the economy is booming, our entertainment is far different from what we watch when things seem to be falling apart.

Falling Skies S1x01 - Hal, Matt and Tom Mason promo picture

As the creators of Falling Skies state, the show, “focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances”.

Falling Skies S2- The soldiers of the future
“Tom, I’m old and I can’t remember stuff from one day to the next, but who is that new guy at the back?”

Despite our circumstances, we as a civilization will adapt and change. It is who we are as a people. Falling Skies shows us the best and worst of us in compelling ways. It helps us to learn more about who we are. And it shows us what we are capable of.Falling Skies - cast banner season 2 - Click to learn more at the official TNT Network web site!

  • Mike Dopud – The Magical Man of Many Talents!

Mike Dopud – The Magical Man of Many Talents!

To all the Mike Dopud fans out there.

I have been given the privilege to do a little write up on Mr. Mike Dopud after discussing some aspects of his career with him. The concept was actually another friend’s idea to do this, so she deserves all the credit on this one.

If you are on Twitter, you can catch Mike Dopud tweeting there regularly. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever get to tweet with, and if you’re ever lucky as to meet him, then that’s better still.

Click to visit Stargate Universe at the legendary MGM Studios!

Mr. Dopud is perhaps best known as Varro from the unfortunate short-lived SyFy show, Stargate Universe, produced by MGM Studios at Bridge Studios of which many of the SGU fans, I being one of them as well, are still holding out hope for another season or perhaps SGU movies!

But in actual fact, he was also in two episodes of Stargate SG-1 (one of which he forgot about until I showed him a picture of him in character) and one episode of Stargate Atlantis. Taking on four different characters in the same series might have been difficult, but it only goes to show just how much talent this gentleman has.

Here we see Mr. Dopud as Ruselin Chernovshev, a Russian Colonel from the episode Full Alert – Stargate SG-1

Here we see him as Odai Ventrell, a bounty hunter in the episode Bounty – Stargate SG-1.

Then we had the pleasure of seeing him again as Kiryk, but in Stargate Atlantis this time in the episode Tracker. Shown in picture with Jewel Staite as Dr. Jennifer Keller.

Along with those great characters, we also had the privilege of seeing his talent again in the episode Taking Ame’s from another hit TV series “Human Target“, which he played a “hit man” named Chicago.

He was also in the critically acclaimed series “Dunham County” as Detective Glen Stuckey, in which he informed me was a “great role to play.” As well as, he was also a regular on MTV’s series “Kaya“, where he played Kaya’s dad and a manager of a rock band, Don.

I am sorry to say that I have not seen either of these last two series, so I guess this is where my masters degree in Google comes in handy and my surfing through the Internet to find legal viewing of the series.

I believe there is nothing this gentleman can not do in his acting career! With his many talents in both the TV and movie scenes like X-Men Origins, he’s definitely someone to be watching out for.

And speaking of movies, by request, I am including his performance in the epic movie “300“. I was told that I just HAD to add this to my movie collection and mention in this news article. Judging from the picture alone, I can understand why. OMG!!!!

Though he was more in the fighting scenes and mostly wore a helmet, so if you did not know who or where to look, you might miss him.

Currently he’s been cast in the pilot of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome as Deke “Minute man” Tornvald where he is one of the regulars. Congratulations Mike!! I am sure your fans cannot wait to see you in action!

He’s just recently wrapped filming Mission Impossible 4 “Ghost Protocol” , albeit a small rolClick to visit and follow RedOne68 (Sandra) on Twitter!e, but still exciting. As well, this past summer, Mr. Dopud has also played a role as a Commander trying to stop the apes from escaping in the new movie Caesar: Rise of th e Apes.

I hope you have enjoyed this introduction to Mr. Mike Dopud. In closing, I have to thank a dear friend and fellow WHR reporter, Redone68 for putting this idea out there for me to do. If there’s something not right, you can leave a message on here or tweet me by clicking on my avatar.

    Minds Eye Series - Pirates!

For centuries a war has been fought between the terrifying Daemon and the righteous Seraphim. They are searching for a human with the power to tip the balance of power in their favour and finally put the war to rest, and that child is Illia.

Closing in on Illia, the war is spilling into the streets of a small suburban town, which is becoming a land filled with mystery and danger. Illia is not alone in his fight. His neighbourhood friends are humanity’s greatest heroes and they’ve sworn to protect Illia from the harsh reality of the war until he is old enough to understand his place in it.

Minds Eye Series - Damsels and Knights!

Known as The Dreamweavers, these heroes possess the ability to alter reality with their imaginations. Powerful warriors from different cultures and time periods, the Dreamweavers disguise themselves as children and work behind the scenes to give Illia a chance to find his own way in a world filled with expectations.

A quiet and introverted 12 year old boy in the ‘everyday’ world, Illia is a talented artist and daydreamer who throws himself with gusto into a world of fantasy rather than deal with mundane stresses of the world around him. Illia is being raised by his grandfather Marty and spends most of his free time with his long-time friends.

Minds Eye Series - Friends Wonder Why!

Cautious, shy and seemingly a harmless boy, Illia could become the most powerful Dreamweaver in history, being the only human ever born influenced by the energies of both Seraphim and Daimon. As Illia matures and learns more about his true identity, he wrestles with the implications of his power to shape the world forever.

The Premiere episode launches Friday November 26th. 2010 and the Season Finale will debut on Friday May 6th, 2011. There are 24, 5-10 minute episodes in all, and a new episode will be available every Friday after November 26th on the MIND’S EYE website at http://www.mindseyeseries.com/

This is the third incarnation of the MIND’S EYE idea. The first was produced by Thomas Gofton in 2007 as a short film. The second was the series’ concept/pilot produced by Synn Studios in the Spring of 2009.

Many of the members of the MIND’S EYE crew appear in cameos throughout the series, including Director of Photography Nick Montgomery, Sound Designer Aaron Soch and Publicist Adam A. Donaldson. As well, Cameron Parkinson, who plays one of the Shadow’s Hands minions appears in a scene as a bystander without his cloak.

Andrew Ellis, who plays the younger Mark in MIND’S EYE, is already an award-winning film maker in his own right. He’s won two awards – one each from the 2008 and 2010 editions of the 24 Hour Film Challenge at Ed Video Media Arts Centre.

MIND’S EYE Art Director Seth Rowanwood was the 2010 recipient of the L. Ron Hubbard Gold Award for Illustrator of the Future, which was presented this past August in Los Angeles.

  • Press Release: Webseries Alert! Spotlight On: Riese!

Well, hello there! Click here to visit RIESE on their official web site!

Who here has heard of Riese The Series? Show of hands? Ah, I knew there would be a lot of you! And lucky for you, we here at WHR have some very interesting and exciting news for you about this fantastic webshow. First, a little background on the series.

If you have never heard of Riese before, it stars Christine Chatelain as Riese, Sharon Taylor as Amara, Patrick Gilmore as Trennan, Ben Cotton as Herrick, Ryan Robbins as Rand, Alessandro Juliani as Garin, Emilie Ullerup as Aliza, Allison Mack as Marlise, and Peter Kelamis as Ormand. I know, right?! If that isn’t a geekfest of the highest order, I don’t know what is.

Click here to visit RIESE at their official web site!

Set in a world of Steampunk, Riese takes place in the nation of Eleysia, a land that was once a peaceful kingdom ruled over by Empress Kara and Emperor Ulric.

In a coup d’état that was organized by a religious group known as The Sect, the Empress’s cousin Amara was placed upon the throne.

Amara, under The Sect’s influence, wanted to unite the world under one rule. That meant only one thing. War. The Sect claims to be the official religion of Eleysia and is thrusting their beliefs upon the nations falling to them. Because of the vicious rule of the Empress, the land has begun to die. Trust and Truth are no longer. Compassion is just a long since forgotten memory and Humanity is considered to be a traitorous act. Click here to visit RIESE at their official web site!

Through all of this comes Riese and Fenrir. Where did she come from, this wanderer and her wolf? That is a question even she can’t remember the answer to, but she knows that it is her duty to help the downtrodden people of the lands.

The Sect branded her a heretic, but she is really a light amongst the darkness that has consumed Eleysia; Humanity’s last hope. On the run, she must find the answers to the questions that plague her and realize her destiny before it is too late.

Click to visit the stupendous SyFy!Sounds amazing, yeah?! Well, let me be the first to tell you that it is indeed! Riese first aired on the Reise Official web site to absolutely rave reviews, myself being one of the ‘ravers’. Over a million hits later and what happened? Riese had to be pulled from the interwebz because Syfy itself had noticed this webshow that was catching everyone’s attention and picked it up!

I don’t know if any of you are fans of the show Sanctuary, but it’s basically the same deal. It started off as an independent webshow, got picked up by Syfy, developed into a television show and here we are on the third season! Hopefully Riese follows that same path. I would love to see it as a weekly program on my TV!

You don’t have to take my word for it though…  Just watch the amazing previews of the first two chapters of Riese above!

As of right now, Riese will return this fall as a webseries and will be shown exclusively in the US on Click here to visit RIESE at their official web site!SyFy at the end of October.  Which, if you don’t keep track of months or time, is THIS MONTH!  I believe they are in negotiations to release it to other countries, but nothing official can be confirmed at this time.

But wait! There’s more! The Riese team got together with the guys over at Genius Factor Games and are bringing the world of Riese to your very own iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad! It’s a RPG (Role Playing Game for all of you non-gamers out there) card battle game. You have to decide which path you are going to take in the fight for Eleysia. Will you fight for The Sect, the Eleysian Army or the Resistance? The fate of the nation lies in your hands. Choose wisely.

EXCLUSIVE NEWS: The game will also be featuring the voice of the wonderfully talented Felicia Day! That girl gets around, huh?! Wait… That came out wrong. I just meant that it seems as if she is ending up in all of my favorite places lately! …Ooookay, not that much better of an analogy, but you get my point! I hope. 😉

EXCLUSIVE: Here are a couple of never before seen screen caps from the game that the awesome people over at Riese were kind enough to share with us.

Airship, Dismiss, Riese at Genius Factor Games!
