Welcome back once again Haven fans,Syfy Logo Gold

As we approach the Haven season two finale “Sins of the Fathers” we discovered more wild out of our reality events while “and yet another freak walks free” and “dehydration Inconsistent with Exercise”. A pair of classic lines from another outstanding episode of Haven named “Business As Usual”

Haven S2x01 The Haven Lighthouse remains unchanged

Haven S2x11 -Audrey is about to find its not usual

Having become quite enamored with this series in its second season, and being a fan of Stephen King and deciding to follow the series, we must admit that nothing in Haven has gone or is going “as usual”.

During the two years of this great science fiction series, I have read people bitching about the show. In fact we hear a lot about people bitching on the Internet rather than sit back and enjoy the fruits of extremely talent people like Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, series writers and the principle story editors of this fantastic program.

Instead, we here at WHR thank them, Syfy and in fact all involved in making Haven the wonderful adventure it is based on “The Colorado Kid” by Stephen King and are hopeful that the series will be picked up for a third season!

Haven S2x11 - Freeze dried jogger
In the most recent episode, individual are being dehydrated, akin to freeze dried alive and mummified right before our very eyes. The initial sequence is a bit humorous as we observe two joggers with the female sharing “it is all about the hydration”. Despite help from the female jogger, the next thing that happens in the shade tent? You guessed it. Instant mummy! Yikes!

One is only left to wonder could this be how the ancient Egyptians accomplished their task many thousands of years ago in the often shrouded past of human history? Not likely, but who really knows what happened 5,000 years ago! In any event the special effects in the mummification scene were quite convincing. The poor jogger definitely looks like something from King Tut’s tomb! Naturally he is not the only victim as we will find out as the latest phenomena begins to unravel in this haunted town of Haven.

Haven S2x11 -Adam Copeland return as Dwight

Our favorite Haven sleuths Nathan Wournos (Lucas Bryant) and Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) are joined once again by guest star Adam Copeland (WWE Star Edge) portraying Dwight Hendrickson. Of interest is that Copeland has been featured in another Syfy series the past year (beyond Haven) including Sanctuary.

Copeland has become a convincing actor beyond his wrestling career. Loved by all the ladies we know, we fully expect to see more of him in the near future outside the WWE professional wrestling ring.

While Nathan and Audrey work with Dwight regarding the mummifications, our other favorite character Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) has discovered an ornate silver jewel box with a holographic top cover. The box contains a cryptic message from Evi now deceased related to the mystery surrounding his own mysterious past in Haven.

    Haven S2x11 - Duke finds a clue
The text of the note tells Duke she wanted him to have the box in case things “go bad” and to place the silver box under his [fish] “tank light” which emits ultraviolet rays. When Duke does so the top cover illuminates to reveal his last name of “Crocker”! Can things get any stranger in Haven?

    Haven S2x11 - A note from Evi

Haven S2x11 - The message in the light

You bet they will! Seeking answers, Duke decides to consult with the towns two resident weirdness experts brothers Vince Teagues (Richard Donat)  and Dave Teagues (John Dunsworth) to help decode the meaning of the enigmatic silver box.

Haven S2x11 - Duke seeks Dave and Vince
In the meantime, Audrey and Nathan questions one of the towns citizens named Colleen (Crystal Allen) to get to the bottom of the why regarding the victims all mummification. She informs them that during a kidnapping of her husband named Stu, where she was tied up, that she witnessed a tattoo with a big number (a 3 or an 8) on their legs. This recollection leads Audrey to deduce such must be like the racers numbers of the joggers we observed before the first “dehydration” victim is murdered.

Haven S2x11 - Colleen tells of the incident

This clue leads them to the man named Patrick Grolesch, the same man who had harassed them earlier at the scene of the gruesome crime. Nathan and Audrey bring Mr. Grolsch in for questioning. No doubt he is somehow involved, but there is no proof or even logic as to why he is the perpetrator. We discover he is an attorney and threatens legal action. Without evidence, Patrick walks free for the time being.

Haven S2x11 - Patrick threatens legal action

Prior to Duke actually conferring with the Teague brothers, we see them refilling their newspaper dispenser a third edition. We can clearly see that newspaper headline is about the town Haven who is in grieving for the “Rev” (Stephen McHattie) recently sent to either heaven or hell by Audrey Parker herself is a previous episode when she shot him at point blank range. Myself I applauded that the evil “Rev” was sent to his maker!

Haven S2x11 - The Rev is dead
After a few chuckles about a “Haven Movie”, Duke reveals the secret “Crocker” message on the top cover using a portable fluorescent light. Vince says it still looks like an old “silver box”, while Dave indicates that the box was the handiwork of one of the towns silver smiths from the early origins of Haven.

Duke asks for their help to find out more since he is convinced the box contains the secrets to his and his families past. It is clear that Vince is being difficult and is obviously hiding something he knows when he refuses to help. However Dave is more than willing to do a little research and accepts the challenge from Duke.

Haven S2x11 - Dave is willing to tackle the task

Perhaps most interesting is we find out the differences between the two brothers is reaching a fever pitch. Vince threatens to stop Dave, while the later says “It is time this town faces realty, all of them”! As the two leave each other after the argument, Vince makes a mysterious call to an unknown party indicating “I have a job for you”! Whoa!

Haven S2x11 -Beverage time for Duke and Dwight

The next thing we know someone is at Duke’s ship looking to steal the little silver box. Duke grabs a gun and we quickly learn that the thief sent by Vince is none other than Dwight! After a fight that does not actually happen, Duke and Dwight decide to have a Scotch and agree “to find out the truth” about why Dave and Vince are at each other’s throats over the meaning to the silver box.

Haven S2x11 - Dwight thinks twice
Over several adult beverages, Dwight and Duke compare their notes. Dwight admits to Duke he is a bullet magnet (his affliction) and that he found this out while serving in the military in Afghanistan during the war on terror! Dwight became a hero because all the bullets from the Al-Qaeda would be drawn to him instead of other soldiers!

Haven S2x11 - Duke thinks it over

While the two are discussing the hidden meanings and discover lost memories Duke then remembers through their mutual recollection where his own boat came from that he thought he had won in a poker game, his father!

Meanwhile, Audrey and Nathan are perplexed when a remote fire alarm goes off at Haven police headquarters. Audrey tells Nathan to investigate further while she goes to see what set of the alarm. Sure enough, it is a formal Barbeque and the missing kidnap victim Stu is to become the main course at the grisly circumstances!

Haven S2x11 - A human barbeque for Stu

After saving Stu this leads us back to Colleen where we find out what his special affliction is and why he was targeted for barbequing! Patrick’s fingerprints were found all over the arson crime scene and he had planned to expose Stu as one of the afflicted whose sweat glands carried the dehydration virus leading to mummification!

Think the episode is over? Not quite people. As Stu and Colleen prepare to leave Haven, we learn that all is left for the citizens “is to choose sides” as Nathan hands Audrey a scrap of paper with Lucy Ripley’s address whom Audrey meet with to learn shocking facts about Haven!

As we see the two nearly kiss, Audrey starts to head out and much to our delight and theirs she thinks better of simply leaving and urns back and plant a big smooch on Nathan’s lips! All fans can say it is about time Audrey!  Way to go!

    Haven S2x11 - Sealed with a kiss

We end the episode with Audrey approaching a woman who s fishing off the ban of the estuary in an unnamed town. It is Lucy Ripley herself and she shares secrets including that Audrey had appeared 27 years earlier with her memories, tat she was in a state of panic attempting to get away from whoever was behind the events, and that they had been trying to erase Audrey’s real memories.

It is at this time we finally understand the two Audrey Parker’s when “our” Audrey admits they succeeded in erasing her and this is why she has a jumble of other peoples past memories! Lucy Ripley tells Audrey she herself made her promise not to tell anyone that they had even met, but only if Audrey came back or she would be erased.

Haven S2x11 - The real Lucy Ripley
During the exchange, we are given the greatest clue of all! The man who is tied to much of the mystery, if not all the occurrences is named Simon Crocker! Yep folks, Simon is Dukes own father and he had tried to find Audrey 27 years in the past!

Back in Haven we segue back to Dwight and Duke they find what they were apparently looking for all along aboard ship, a cache of items left by Simon Crocker in a larger silver chest which is a virtual match (except for size) to the original!

Haven S2x11 - Silver box of secrets

While looking inside the larger silver box, guess what? Yep! Audrey returns at that precise moment and informs our two Haven treasure hunters that they “need to talk”!

Well of course they do for goodness sakes. After two years it is very nice to see all the clues from the “afflicted” finally coming together! In a brilliant flash of plot devices, Dwight tries to steal the box, Duke slashes him with a dagger from inside it, blood sprays on Dukes hand and low and behold, Duke own “affliction” is manifest as he displays superhuman strength and launches Dwight overboard!

Haven S2x11 -Duke gains super human strength

Feed from further interference, Duke and  Audrey agree to examine the contents together while Dave and Vince prepare for a town meeting about all the strange happenings in Haven! It is here that we learn that the two Teague brothers are at the heart of the “war” or conflict and we see the animus between the two as we have never witness before!

Haven S2x11 -Dave and Vince go eye to eye

Haven S2x11 -Dwight returns in time for the meeting

To make matters even more complex, Dwight shows up at the meeting location and we confirm that he was sent by Vince to obtain the box of secrets! We also learn that Dwight being cut has some consequence over activating Dukes superhuman powers for a period of time.

Haven S2x11 -Nathan arrives at the meeting

Suddenly Nathan walks in an lets Dwight and Vince know that the secret meeting will proceed and that “risks” pay off! In the final moments, we are back with Duke and Audrey as they are examining the artifacts from Havens past. In the silver box they find a book with a cryptic message from Simon Crocker that he must complete the fathers “mission” and kill Audrey Parker!

Haven S2x11 -Audrey and Duke study Simon Crockers book

Haven S2x11 -Audrey and Duke are concerned by the writings of Simon Crocker

Exactly like Duke and Audrey, we fade to black but are left wondering why Duke must kill Audrey setting up the exciting season two finale “Sins of the Fathers” airing September 30, 2011 on Syfy! We include th epromotional trailer below for your enjoyment

Haven: “Friend or Faux” When Cloned Copies and Memories Collide!

Haven Banner - Click to learn more about Haven at Syfy!

    Welcome back Haven fans,

Recently we have seen events in the real world and in Haven continue towards the bizarre as it was revealed that Reverend Driscoll (Stephen McHattie) is apparently in league teaming up with Evidence “Evi’ Ryan (Vinessa Antoine) against her husband Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) regarding the details and true nature of the death of Duke’s father!

    Haven S2x08 - Rev Driscoll

Haven S2x08 - Eric Balfour as Duke
This little gem of information will play a crucial role later in the episode to setup a future mystery that is Haven. During “Friend or Faux” the character of Duke plays an expanded role in an excellent episode directed by Stephen Reynolds written by Sam Ernst.

    Haven S2x08 - Evidence Ryan
We observe, after the opening credits at the beginning, what appears to be two twin brothers named Cornell Stamoran (Cristián de la Fuente). We learn that Cornell is a senior financial officer at a state banking institution. Unfortunately, these two characters do not get along very well.

Pancakes and breakfast are among the topics discussed as we feel the tension between the two grow to explosive dimensions in the opening moments. The pancakes are the least of strangest activities in Haven, being about as normal as things will be in the town today.

Haven S2x08 - Pancakes for breakfast

As we see a sink full of breakfast refuse, we can clearly see the frustration and friction between the two. At first glance this does not seem out of the ordinary for anyone who has actually met twins.

Haven S2x08 - Dishes in the sink
Ooops, there will be no pancakes or syrup this morning after one of the “Cornell” twins tricks the other during breakfast, shooting the other at point black range in the back of the head! Problem solved? Hardly!

Haven S2x08 - Bullet to the back of head
However the so called twin does not die as we find out a few seconds later in the car when the “dead” one holds the other at gun point stating “You know I do not like that” turning the tables on the other forcing Cornell “prime” out of the car.

Haven S2x08 - Gues who is coming to dinner
As a few figured out from the bone crunching sounds after the demise of a ‘Cornell”,  the other “Cornell’s” are not real, but are copies or faux persons being recreated for some sinister purpose! Here the word in the title becomes manifest and is where we begin another adventure in Haven, definitely the wackiest and most dangerous town this side of hell!

Haven S2x08 - Rev and Evi together
As the plot thickens, and let me tell you, this episode is a really “out there” in terms of wildness. Critically there is insight into Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) herself with regard to the copied Cornell’s who have the same memories just like Audrey, but not the same experiences!

Haven S2x08 - Emily Rose as Audrey Parker
As we are left to ponder the Cornell’s, the visage moves to the Grey Gull where Duke is in the bar talking with a young fellow named Henry (Connor Price) who has “seen something” at the abandoned “Everwood” resort.  Henry, quite visibly nervous as he smashes a tray of glassware, asks Duke to not tell the cops. Duke voluntarily tell the cops anything? Ha! Do not worry Henry, that is not very likely at all!

    Haven S2x08 - Henry has a secret

It is in the morning with Duke as Henry is attending to chores, when suddenly the “other” Cornell shows up and wants a Single Malt Scotch “neat”.  This Cornell, whom is on a mission enjoys fondling a particular coin and spins it on the bar obsessively while enjoying his “four fingers” of Single Malt Scotch!

Haven S2x08 - Single Malt Scotch for breakfast
Seemingly an early morning imbiber, the Single Malt Scotch is for Cornell number two’s after breakfast beverage to start off the day (a bit strange all by itself)!

Haven S2x08 - The silver dollar with a tale

After guzzling the double Single Malt Scotch, Cornell “two” then demands another drink.  Cornell wants something a bit lighter, a perennial favorite of many early morning drinkers, a Pina Colada (a blended drink). As Cornell begins to ask where “Henry” is we see him spinning a silver dollar on the bar obsessively.

Haven S2x08 - The silver dollar with a tale on edge
This will play a role in a few moments as we see young Henry is now hiding behind the bar! Earlier we had seen that the lad is a barkeep for Duke helping to keep the place clean from Duke’s slovenly habits.

In Haven, Duke certainly has come to understand problem drinkers (being a bartender), but this early morning alcoholic consumption situation is about to become rather extreme in nature.

Haven S2x08 - Single Malt hits the spot
After stating his Pina Colada blender is broken, while looking for another below the bar for another blender, we hear Duke telling Henry to get ready to run. “Cornell Two” is about to go non linear if he is refused his early morning adult beverage service. Cornell calls Duke a liar and then all hell breaks loose!

Note: Let this be a lesson to bartenders everywhere during last call at 2 AM or during first call first thing in the morning when refusing service to a heavy drinker!

In the meantime, Duke pulls his trusty ‘45’ equalizer out and holds Cornell at gunpoint telling him to get the hell out of the “Gull”, his drinking establishment. When Duke mistakenly believes that Cornell will leave peacefully, a gunfight breaks out, Henry runs for his life, and both Duke and Cornell are winged in the process, with Cornell escaping. All this in only the first few minutes!

Haven S2x08 - Ni Pina Colada for Cornell
Now is the time Duke decides to “tell the cops” and here is when and where Audrey Parker and Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) enter the picture. Duke relates the gist of what is happening conveniently omitting the part about his young charge Henry. Of course Audrey knows Duke is hiding something chares her concerns with Nathan. Armed with only the license number the two have no choice but to visit the home of Cornell!

Haven S2x08 - You missed Duke not telling all

As “Friend or Faux” progresses we later learn that there are not simply two Cornell’s but a bevy of the evil copies being created each claiming to be a better version of the original person of Cornell.

Cornell “prime” is afraid of something that is holding him back, whereas the copies are not. Once “Cornell” kills a copy, we soon hear the bone cracking sound once again and low and behold; BINGO, a Cornell clone is back once again to fulfill his part of the Faustian bargain.

Haven S2x08 - Danger from clone copies

During the ‘Friend of Faux” fun in the episode, we hear Audrey sharing with Nathan about her past memories. One of the fun moments is a discussion of “Vegemite” a favorite among Australians that she is trying even though Alt Audrey (Kathleen Munroe) never liked it. The alternate memories including those of the mysteriously cloned Cornell’s and Audrey’s are really what this episode’s single effect are all about.

Haven S2x08 - Kathleen Munroe as Alt Audrey
In life (as in Haven), we are all who we are because of what we remember. This is Audrey’s conundrum as well as Cornell Stamoran’s and our own. Much life real life itself, we must all strive to accurately recall what has happened, where we have been. in order to determine where we are going in life.

Some in life have what is referred to as “selective memory”, or the tendency to remember only what they want to or make to justify their unruly or illegal behavior. As we have related and will continue to relate, entertainment whether television, movie, play, book, and or even music typically serves a purpose to send a message to the recipients. This is the message intended by the creators in the opinion of the reviewer.

Haven S2x08 - Cloned cord wood piles
In Haven “Friend or Faux” we find that the cloned Cornell copies are stacking up like cord wood in a room at the abandoned resort as Cornell “prime” “dispatches” copy after copy. We also witness a conversation when yet another re-animated clone Cornell is being held by Audrey in the basement of the Everwood Resort. Cornell eventually gives himself away with the obsessive spinning of the silver dollar.

This too is part of the Single Effect being imparted to the audience by the creators. People who have harmed others become obsessed with an object of their hatred as they seek revenge trying to blame someone else for their own shortcomings. During this part of the story arc, Audrey and cloned Cornell develop a rapport or understanding that will become critical at episodes end.

This is what has happened to young Henry, he is the object of the “prime” Cornell’s warped sense of reality, figuring if they can simply eliminate the boy, they will eliminate what has really happened. But the answer is not really in “the real world”, it is an imagined warped or altered construct, a sense of reality not real as we will discover to be the fact of the matter to complete the reflection of life here on Earth.

Once again a cloned Cornell appears with an automatic weapon. Henry and Duke are separated from Cornell, Audrey and Duke in the process. During these sequences we learn the importance of the Henry character as he relates to Duke.

Haven S2x08 - Duke and Henry on the run
Audrey scuffles with the clone and is held for a brief period by her own weapon. She asks cloned Cornell if he ever wonders if he is “real” to distract him until she makes a reference to her own memories she does not remember experiencing at Quantico Virginia (home of the Central Intelligence Agency) and takes the evil clone down and handcuffs him to a pipe in the process.

Haven S2x08 - Audrey in action

Henry wants to know why Duke never asked about his background. Duke, himself a walking wounded person shares that “fathers are tough” and that his leaving home was the seemingly best thing he could ever have done. Young Henry is not quite convinced and bolts away from Duke right when he has discovered a way out of the nightmarish environment!

We learn that young Henry has been living at the Everwood Resort. When Audrey, Nathan and Duke team up after they believe they have cloned Cornell imprisoned in the basement, Henry reveals that he witnessed Cornell killing another man. Screaming in the process, Henry is seen by a cloned Cornell and the origins of the mayhem are identified.

Haven S2x08 - Selectman ransacks the files
As the episode winds down, another character enters the picture; Selectman Gerst (Mark Graham) who is looking for something at police headquarters. While Colin the Cop (Colin Hluchaniuk) is distracted, Gerst sneaks into Nathan’s office. It is a tell tale moment. He finds the files he is looking for. More on this later.

Back to Henry, we discover why he bolted from Duke when freedom was available. He had gone back to get a Gulf War medal his father had earned in Iraq and given him. It is Henry’s most prized possession.

Haven S2x08 - Henrys prize possession his Dad's medal

Our cloned Cornell is no dummy despite the mistakes he has made. He skewers himself in the heart to kill that body so as to create yet another. He then seeks out his real self in the abandoned resort to accomplish the warped mission he “remembers” he “must” perform to kill anyone and everyone who has become aware of the crime he has committed.

What crime? Just when we think the original Cornell “prime” is innocent we find out that he had been embezzling from the bank and actually is “a thief, a murderer, and a coward” as Nathan discovers a body hidden behind a partially re-constructed wall.

Haven S2x08 - Cornell's victim in the wall

The cloned and freshly re-animated Cornel shares with us. You see, Cornell “prime” has been lying all along knowing that his sub-conscience mind created the other Cornell’s to do his dirty work, killing Nathan in an attempt to cover their tracks.

This is not to be. Nathan cell phone rings and we learn than Audrey and Duke have teamed up to lay an ambush. The cell phone going off was their way to locate Nathan who has been knocked out before the evil twin and “prime” suspect Cornell perpetrate yet another act of murder.

Haven S2x08 - Audrey come forward to the Cornell's

Audrey convinces Duke to get Henry out of the area while she decides to leverage the bond created with cloned Cornell earlier. She puts down her weapon and moves to talk with the pair. Cloned Cornell agrees while Cornell “prime” instructs him to kill Audrey.

Oblivious to the consequences, Audrey succeeds in convincing the clone Cornell to kill the original to put an end to the madness and live with the memory that he will be saving the young boy Henry to live out his life and not “pay” for what he witnessed. Prime Cornell falls to his death and we watch as cloned Cornell flips the silver dollar to Audrey and fades into oblivion.

Haven S2x08 - Audrey catches the coin

Haven S2x08 - Cornell fades out
We end the episode with three shocking revelations. First we discover what the ransacking of the file cabinets by Selectman Gerst was all about; The good Reverend Driscoll has been working with the Selectman and will be seeking to get enough evidence to remove Nathan from his position as Chief of Police in Haven.

Haven S2x08 - Nathan no longer in command

Haven S2x08 - You are through Nathan
Our ever solitary “lone wolf” Duke displays a soft spot and has called Henry’s father (Andrew MacVicar). Duke shares with Henry “that it is tricky knowing who the good guy is”.

Haven S2x08 - Duke says its hard to know the good guys

Haven S2x08 - Hard to know the good guys

And so it is not always so in real life. In this story, Henry and father get another chance. The same cannot be said for innocent people harmed by the evil plans of others in our world.  We know this from professional experience here at WHR and will be publishing “all about it”, to coin a news phrase, with evidence, facts, the naming of names, and healthy alternatives at our fifth news site opening soon.

Haven S2x08 - Nathan hoists another one

And speaking of Evidence, good ole’ ‘Evi’ Ryan comes into play as we alluded to earlier. We end this outstanding episode with Nathan at the “Gull” drinking like we have never seen him do before. He has been fired as Chief of Police in Haven and is stewed to the gills dancing with a drunk woman (Lauren Messervey). Audrey and Duke are sitting at the bar shocked as they watch “The Chief” getting more blasted by the second “letting his hair down“ for the first time in his life.

Haven S2x08 - Nathan feeling no pain dancing

Haven S2x08 - Giggling at Nathan dancing

Both are looking for a digital camera to capture the “Kodak Moment” and find they do not have one handy. Evi, who has left her purse on the counter has a suitable phone unit handy and they snap a picture. As Audrey walks away, she asks that a “copy” of the “keeper” be sent to her. At that very second, a text message comes through from Reverend Driscoll “Thanks for the files info. I took care of the rest” regarding the plot against Nathan. Yikes!

Haven S2x08 - Message from the Rev to Evi
And there end the lessons in Haven for now. Season two of this fantastic series continues Friday September 09, 2011 with “Lockdown” on Syfy in the United States. Make sure to tune in as the secrets of Haven continue to be revealed when Adam Copeland (WWE’s Edge) makes a special guest appearance as Dwight Hendrickson!

Welcome back once again Haven fans,

Fav SyFy Logo Chain LinksThe second episode of Haven season two “Fear and Loathing” was superbly directed by Robert Lieberman, nicely edited by Neil Grieve. Conversely episode three “Love Machine” was directed by T.W. Peacock and well edited by Jean Coulombe. Both episodes feature great music by Shawn Pierce and superb costumes lead by Antoinette Messam.

SPOILER ALERT: If you have not seen Haven “Fear and Loathing” and “Love Machine” I suggest you stop reading now. Why? This review combines analysis of both episodes because a major story arc will come to a bittersweet conclusion as this may apparently be the last episode Kathleen Munroe will be a regular cast member for the time being.

    Fear and Loathing:

Click to visit and follow Kathleen Munroe on Twitter!Much like the Haven fans themselves, I was quite pleased to see a continuation of both realities with two Audrey Parker’s in “Fear and Loathing” and am sorry to see her depart from the series. However I am getting ahead of myself, so let us go back in the time line a bit shall we?

As I discussed with Emily Rose at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego, I asked her “what she thought of a second Audrey Parker?”. Emily Rose commented “I like Kathleen Munroe in the role, she adds a nice perspective to Haven“. On a follow up question during the Syfy Red Carpet ceremony outside the Hotel Salomar, I asked if we would see more of the two Click to learn more about the fabulous Hotel Salomar San Diego!Audrey Parker characters this season? Ms. Roses answer was a simple “yes”.

During the initial scenes of “Fear and Loathing” we come to discover that Nathan Wournos (Lucas Bryant), now ‘holding together’ Haven, and having replaced his exploded father as Sheriff, has regained his ability to feel. This development appears to be tied a supernatural epidemic. As well to several incidents with nightmarish apparitions begin plaguing the towns citizens. Each are apparently distant past memories of the victims from their most frightening experiences earlier in their lives.

The over arching question, which is the ultimate fascination of Haven, is who and or what is behind these occurrences? The ongoing supernatural circumstances in Haven are at the heart of the program that is loved by millions of science fiction fans. After the first sequence with Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) watching someone run for their lives In a local grocery store establishment the stage is set.  Duke is simply dropping by for a case of specially ordered favorite beer.

Haven S2x02 - Duke drops by the grocery store
As Duke heads to the back of the store the first victim of the nightmarish epidemic events is the store clerk (Frank Mackay) sees a woman enter his store with a hideously grotesque face.

Haven S2x02 - The grocery clerks nightmare

Nest one of the store patron sees an apparition of horror followed by the sounds of a vicious barking and snarling black attack dog. Seemingly oblivious to whatever has panicked the man, a woman patron of the store turns to see her dead husband in the aisle and faints dead away.

Haven S2x02 - The womans dead husband

Haven S2x02 - The woman faint dead away
Later we will move to a scene where Audrey’s mother Lucy Ripley (also portrayed by Emily Rose) haunts the environs of Haven as well! Fans will recall that this is not the first appearance of the Lucy Ripley whom we saw in 2010 as a crime scene victim in the season one episode “Perfect Plan”. This little fact will become relevant once again in the next episode “Love Machine”.

The events are only the beginning of the unraveling fabric of saneness in Haven! A bit later as the two Audrey’s are investigating the situation, “Alt Audrey” herself is scared out of her wits when a movie theatre empties out as the citizens flee for their lives as the epidemic of fear and loathing multiplies exponentially.

Haven S2x02 - The theatre empties

Once cannot help but theorize; Is this all somehow connected to what we have witnessed of the end Sheriff Wuornos (Nicholas Campbell) blown into oblivion? Or perhaps the sheriff was only destroyed in our “current” version of the realities time line that was warped for the worse by the appearance of “Alt Audrey” Kathleen Munroe?

Things did seem to get worse the second version of Audrey Parker appeared in the town of Haven. All of which has added an exciting element of suspense. Working with “our” Audrey Parker portrayed by Emily Rose, the available “horsepower” (brain power) will no doubt be sorely needed to determine what in the hell in the world of Haven is going on!

One of the results of the interactions, as witnessed in the opening moments, we should focus on the now promoted (or should I say capitulated) Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant)? He is now holding the position of sheriff after the apparent demise of his father. We see that it will now be Nathan’s job to hold Haven “together”.

Haven S2x02 - Nathan must hold Haven together
With regard to the elder Wuornos, I use the term “apparent” because as we have stated before, and all science fiction fans certainly know, is that no one really dies in science fiction! What should we take from all this? That in the future we might therefore expect the return of Nicolas Campbell whenever things settle down in Haven… If they ever do!

As the episode begins to unfold, we observe the towns people literally freaking out and with good reason. Haven, created by the gifted Sam Ernst brings the superb ensemble cast of  Emily Rose, Eric Balfour, Lucas Bryant, Nicholas Campbell, Stephen McHattie, Gary Levert, Richard Donat, Michelle Monteith, and Kathleen Munroe face to face with their worst nightmares. As we learn in “Fear and Loathing” the apparitions are in fact nightmares from each targeted victims past lives.

    Haven S2x02 - Alt-Audreys own nightmare
As the drama continues the towns people become understandably frightened. Many are seeing things they simply do not understand including vicious dogs, people from horror movies or their own nightmares. Both Audrey and Alt Audrey endeavor to use their “Audrey” skills, which are considerable to track down the what, why, where and when of the situation. Most telling is that Audrey’s mother is seen once again!

Haven S2x02 - A sighting of Audrey's mother Lucy Ripley

    Haven S2x02 - Audrey's mother Lucy Ripley
During “Fear and Loathing” Audrey and Alt-Audrey continue to explore their shared memories as they investigate the strange activities unraveling in Haven caused by a person trying to escape Haven named Ian Haskell (Bryan Dick) who has the ability to make others visualize their greatest fears. He desperately seeks to bribe Duke and utilize his ship to get out of Haven before more harm is done.

Haven S2x02 - Ian offers a bribe to Duke
However what the two Audreys’ will discover leads to a return of the demonstrated powers of The Colorado Kid in the following episode named “Love Machine”!

Haven S2x02 - Audrey and Alt-Audrey brought together by fate
As the episode winds down, we continue to observe the two women brought together by fate. They enjoy a tender moment together after locating and killing the troublemaker, the past acquaintance of Duke named Ian who was trying to leave Haven after inflicting so such damage to others in his search for “feelings” caused by his sucking out of emotions in the townspeople. As for all episodes villain, Ian pays the ultimate price, death!

Haven S2x02 - Ian pays the ultimate price
In closing this portion of our dual Haven dual review, I for one was hopeful that both Emily Rose and Kathleen Munroe will be featured for an extended period in the Haven series. Why? Because the alternative reality adventures with two Audrey Parker characters are quite enjoyable.

Haven S2x02 - Alt-Audreys EndHowever as we will learn in the next episode, “Love Machine”, “Alt Audrey” will being going away 🙁

    Love Machine:

The episode following “Fear and Loathing” is aptly named when the Audrey’s and Nathan must determine why a fishing vessel owned by a new corporation owned by a cranky fellow named Mr. Halsey portrayed by J.D. Nicholsen (also of Falling Skies) and then the  machinery at the local docks begins to attack people! Yikes!

It is yet another outbreak of the wild, crazy and wonderful times in Haven. As the episode begins we observe more problems for Audrey, Nathan and Alt-Audrey to figure out before too many more of the citizens of Haven are killed before the ultimate return of the Colorado Kid expected by fans of this well done series.

Haven S2x03 - The first victim

The source of the odd activities this time center on malfunctioning equipment being controlled by someone or something with a mind of its own and an agenda! The trouble begins at the Haven docks as a load of fish being dumped on one of the fisherman on board the vessel! The poor fellow does not perish in the initial incident, however he is clearly knocked senseless is the process.

Haven S2x03 - Buried by fish

We segue to Audrey, Nathan and Alt-Audrey who are currently looking for an apartment above Duke’s bar for Alt-Audrey. There are several funny bits including Duke stating to Alt-Audrey “You are not as nice as the blond one” when she correctly identifies Duke’s bartender as a crook!  Also funny is a line by Audrey after Alt-Audrey tells her where to hang her wind chimes. Audrey’s humorously responds “Maybe we are not that much alike”! Correct!

Haven S2x03 - Not as nice as the blond one
Previously, we learned that both Audrey’s apparently had the same memories, and therefore many assumed the two had same experiences. However this was a somewhat false assumption since a split in the time line experiences occurred as a result of two Audrey’s. The most notable item revealed in this season the revelation that Alt-Audrey had a different supervisor at the FBI than our Audrey herself.

Haven S2x03 - Audrey and Alt-Audrey discuss the past
During the episode more differences are noted including a taste in music, boyfriends, decorating and critically that Alt-Audrey has never heard of Lucy Ripley, mother of Audrey Parker from our version of Haven reality. The facts that have been revealed will play an important role at the end of the episode.

The sequences of mechanized madness continues to escalate with more people in Haven becoming victims including Mr. Halsey. Funeral services will be pending for these innocent souls. The upshot of the outbreak is that another misguided soul with an agenda of alleged love which has morphed into jealousy and hatred that unfortunately is far too common in our reality on Earth.

Haven S2x03 - Mr. Halsey ready for burial services

One of the greatest sadness’ in our world is that people who are involved with hate attacks often have little or no respect for themselves as taught by their parents and therefore replicate the hateful behavior in their own lives as cover for their own sins. These tragic souls then superimpose their own hatred from the mistakes they caused in their own lives on others to perform their dirty work and pass on the hatred to their own children which we can see everyday on television news and around the Internet.

Haven S2x03 - Hugo Speer as Louis Puhfahl
During the Haven “Love Machine” episode the unwitting perpetrator is a local handyman named Louis Pufhal (Hugo Speer) illustrated above. Louis desires to leave Haven like many others from being exposed to all the frightening manifestations in the town! He is being thwarted from leaving Haven by the machines he has “fixed”.

Haven S2x03 - Louis' repair shop

Believing that if he “fixes them better” he can stop their insane jealousy which has turned into hatred for anyone that may be his ticket out of the supernaturally infested and haunted town. You see Louis plans to move to Florida with a female character named Marsha Steltzer portrayed by Lisa Houle (second wife of series star Steven McHattie) who runs the local ice skating rink.

Haven S2x03 - Zamboni aims for Marcia at the ice rick

As we know from observing peoples behavior in real life, jealousy is a powerful motive leading to hatred, attacks and even mayhem. Audrey and Nathan learn that Louis Puhfal is the common denominator behind the attacks having worked on all the affected machines. As Audrey and Nathan seek out Louis in his workshop, the machines Louis has fixed launch an all out attack on our two protagonists including embedding nails into Nathan’s back. At this point it is confirmed that Nathan has once again lost his feelings.

Haven S2x03 - Nathan nail gunned
In the final sequences Alt-Audrey holds Duke at gun point for what appears to be an inexplicable reason, Marcia is attacked by a Zamboni ice rink conditioning machine pinning her against a wall at the ice rink in a final act of jealousy.  Louis fixes the Zamboni and has to promise not to leave Haven to placate the “Love Machine” he has “fixed” into killing more innocent people like Marcia. We witness Nathan leading Marcia away in tears.

Haven S2x03 - Nathan leads Marcia away
Alt-Audrey becomes the ultimate victim in “Love Machine” when her memory is erased while she in process of conducting her own investigation into the circumstances. There are touching moments when Duke realizes she is no longer herself after a rapport developed between the two earlier in the episode .

Haven S2x03 - Alt-Audrey holds Duke at gun point

    Haven S2x03 - Alt-Audrey loses her memory
Also memorable is the final scenes when Audrey calls her former estranged boyfriend Brad whom she had met after Audrey has moved to Haven. As we suspect Alt-Audrey’s memory loss is apparently caused by the mysteriously elusive and yet to be identified Colorado Kid as defined in Stephen King’s book of the same name.

    Haven S2x03 - Alt-Audrey leaves with Brad
The episode conclude subsequent to Nathan and Audrey looking for coordinates that may contain clues about Audrey’s past history and why she is tied to Haven. The tip leads the pair to a forested area where a building once stood as evidenced by the yellowed grass.

Haven S2x03 - Audrey and Nathan at the coordinates

Haven S2x03 - Audrey dead ends with no building

The building which is supposed to contain clue’s is gone which segue’s us to the “Love Machine” montage song, a nice version of Elton John’s “Your Song” performed by Ellie Goulding.

Haven S2x03 - Marcia returns the crockpot

We observe various scenes including Duke at the Grey Gull looking at a map he cannot figure out, Marcia returning a crook pot Louis has fixed before she leaves town, Nathan back at his office looking for clues to the enigma, and a scene with Audrey playing the song after she while she contemplates the recent events.

Haven S2x03 - Audrey plays the piano

Haven S2x03 - Audrey at the piano

We include the BBC version of Ms. Goulding’s performance of “Your Song” below for your enjoyment.

Haven airs each Friday evening at 10 PM E/P 9 PM central on Syfy returning with “Sparks and Recreation” this Friday August 05, 2011. In the meantime we include below for your viewing pleasure courtesy of Syfy a special about Stephen King references in Haven via Hulu.

Haven: “A Tale of Two Audrey’s” S2x01 When Worlds Collide!

Haven Banner - Click to learn more about Haven at Syfy!

    Welcome back Haven fans,

The awesome return of Haven met all our expectations and based on the tweet stream, all the expectations of the fans of the series as wFav SyFy Logo Chain Linksell! Our grade for the return of Haven on Friday July 15, 2011 on Syfy? An unqualified “A” for  quality science fiction with supernatural content that will make your hair stand on end!

Based on “The Colorado Kid” by creative legend, author and producer  Stephen King, Haven “A Tale of Two Audrey’s” blasted out of an alternate reality bursting into our world with the environment in Haven apparently changing before our very eyes where many of the characters appeared to be changing as the crack in the universe expanded from the season one finale “Spiral”.

Haven S2x01 The crack in realities becomes manifest

Although the Haven lighthouse appears unchanged on the tranquil surface near the lighthouse, other events portend frightening consequences as illustrated below!

Haven S2x01 The Haven Lighthouse remains unchanged

Haven S2x01 Haven hit by changing blasts from the heavens

Haven S2x01 Disaster for Sheriff Wuornos aka Nicholas Campbell
As we became aware in the season one “Spiral” cliffhanger and the apparent end of Sheriff Wuornos (Nicholas Campbell) who was apparently blown to smithereens (as illustrated above) before he could take his own life, “our” FBI agent named Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), was confronted in the changing circumstances with an altered but very beautiful brunette version of herself portrayed by Kathleen Munroe (recently in Stargate Universe).

    Haven S2x01 Alternate Audrey appears
Munroe appeared in the town of Haven as “Audrey 2” or since we like to discuss wormholes resulting in alternate realities, our preference is to refer to Kathleen Munroe as “Alt Audrey”!

Haven S2x01 Alt Audrey shows her credentials

The alternate Audrey with automatic pistol and law enforcement credentials in hand, instead elected to surrender to Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) and Nathan Wuornos portrayed by Lucas Bryant. Being outgunned by him and “our” Audrey”, alternate Audrey had no choice but to capitulate!

Haven S2x01 - Kathleen Munroe as Audrey 2 does what

As we mentioned previously, the alternate reality blending the time line began in Haven season one “Spiral”. The story arc is one that science fiction and thriller novel wizard dealt with in his previous works regarding alternate realities. Click to visit and learn more about Stephen King at his official web site!Of course we are speaking about the wonderful works of Stephen King who is a master of so many books that were turned into movies and television series.

As the episode begins to unfold, we segue to The Good Shepherd Chuch by the biblical motivations of the Reverend Edmund Driscoll portrayed by Stephen McHattie. And sure enough the events including blood flowing from the water systems, locusts, and frogs falling from the heavens that occur appearing to reinforce his contention that Haven is being punished for its evil and sinful ways that he believes are an affront to God!

Haven S2x01 Reverend Driscoll invites us inside

Haven the series takes us all on an adventure of supernatural happenings that have culminated in the epic season final with the realities “When Worlds Collide” (1951 – with a 2012 remake in the works) in which the reality is shifting between opposing forces under the control of a yet to be revealed culprit. Or is it as Reverend Driscoll indicates that the time of the end is coming and Haven will pay the price for its evil ways?

Haven S2x01 - Something is happening in Haven

Haven was created by the gifted Sam Ernst who turned the visions of Stephen King into a reality on our screens. Haven features a great ensemble cast including Emily Rose (ER)  Eric Balfour (Skyline, 24), Lucas Bryant (Dollhouse),  Nicholas Campbell (DaVinci’s Inquest), Stephen McHattie (Happy Town), Gary Levert (Lexx), Richard Donat, (Little House on the Prairie, Lexx) Michelle Monteith (Murdoch Mysteries) and now Kathleen Munroe formerly of Nikita and Stargate Universe.

Haven S2x01 Haven towns people are concerned and divided

The story continues with the towns people concerned and divided. Alt Audrey is taken into voluntary custody as terrifying event after terrifying event unfolds across Haven. Being another Audrey with all “Audrey’s” talents and knowledge, and although handcuffed in the process, Alt Audrey manages to to use her cell phone to call her superiors at the FBI. This call will have serious consequences later in the episode!

As alternate reality Audry becomes acquainted with Haven she begins to realize that she and Audrey are the same person but in two different bodies as they share mutual past memories that are revealed as the story unfolds. “Our” Audrey decides to remove the handcuffs on Alt Audry as she also begins to grasp what is happening as the realities continue to collide!

Meanwhile Nathan Wuornos visits with the Reverend Driscoll to try and get his cooperation about the horrific events including signs of a Biblical plague hitting the town. Driscoll remains convinced that Haven must pay the price for its sins.

Haven S2x01 Wuornos questions Reverend Driscoll

Haven S2x01 Reverend Driscoll is adamant
The season two premiere title itself is a dead giveaway regarding the two Audrey characters. We are left to wonder who is the real Audrey? Will both exist throughout season two of Haven and will Haven will have two Audrey’s from here on out?

Haven S2x01 Alt Audrey recalls past shared memories

Haven S2x01 Alt Audrey and Audrey form a bond
Being that both versions of Audrey have the same past experiences and memories, I for one am hopeful that both Emily Rose and Kathleen Munroe will be featured for an extended period. Why?

As the episode winds down, many would agree that the town of Haven needs all the help it can get for goodness sakes! Near the end of the episode “A Tale of Two Audrey’s”, we observe the two women having a beverage at a local establishment and discussing their mutual fate.

Haven S2x01 - Emily Rose as Audrey Parker number 1

As the episode ends, our Audrey is confident that her call to her supervisors will place Alt Audrey in jeopardy and cautions her to say nothing to them about what is happening. The wonderful story arc twists with the revelation that the FBI supervisors are not our Audrey’s, but instead are from Alt Audrey’s version of reality! Fortunately, Alt Audrey recognizes the severity of the situation and lies to her boss to protect “Audrey”!

Click to learn more about Haven at Syfy!

    Welcome Haven fans,

Our team here have long desired and wanted to add Haven to our series coverage and today is the day! Fav SyFy Logo Chain Links

With great deference to creative genius Stephen King, as well as careful consideration of bandwidth limitations here at WHR so as to do justice to the series, the time has finally come!

The decision was actually made some time ago pending this post when cracks began to form in the season one episode final called called “Spiral” in which our FBI agent named Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), is confronted this time in the altered reality with a brunette version of Audrey none other than Kathleen Munroe who appeared in the town of Haven’s environs replete with an automatic pistol and law enforcement credentials!

Haven S1x13 - Crack in Haven for Sheriif (Nicholas Campbell)

Haven S2x01 - Kathleen Munroe as Audrey 2 does what

This “reality cracking” into an alternate time line occurs in Haven season one and sounded an awful lot like a wormhole alternate reality Click to visit and learn more about Stephen King at his official web site!event to our team, so we began the planning shortly after October 08, 2010 to add the wonderful series Haven (based upon the works of Stephen King) to the line up of programs we cover here at WormholeRiders News Agency. This included researching the activities at The Good Shepherd Church by the driven Reverend Edmund Driscoll portrayed by Stephen McHattie!

Haven S2x01 - The Good Shepherd Chuch in Haven

Haven S2x01 - The Good Shepherd Rev Driscoll

Haven the series has been described as follows by The Hollywood Reporter (THR): “A shrewd FBI agent with a lost past who arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine, to solve the murder of a local ex-con only to discover that the curious enclave is a longtime refuge for people with supernatural powers that holds a lot of secrets, including to her own past.

Haven S2x01 - Eric Balfour as Duke Crocker

An anonymous person on IMDB describes Haven this way: “She has no past. She has no family. She was raised in an orphanage. So, she lives for what she does best: be an FBI agent. That’s why Audrey Parker is sent to a distant Maine village called Haven, to investigate the crime of a prison fugitive. What she does not know, is that her past is connected to that village, that old threats from the past are coming back, and she is going to be a central piece on everyone’s life… or death.

While both of these descriptions are relatively accurate, I prefer to think of Haven as a series about supernatural happenings in a town that requires a dedicated team of specialists to keep the world from breaking apart into a million separate realities from a wormhole. And yes my friends WormholeRiders know about such things and it IS HAPPENING in Haven!

Haven S2x01 - Something is happening in Haven

When I first started watching I found Haven somewhat akin to Happy Town (an ABC series), but one that was able to make the crossover over to a second season. As we all know now despite a great cast and crew Happy Town was unable to make a second season happen. Unlike that program which some say moved too slowly, Haven moves very quickly during each episode and additionally there are some tender moments as well. These are explored in “A Tale of Two Audreys” as illustrated below.

    Haven S2x01 - A moment of tenderness

Haven is a series created by the inspired Sam Ernst featuring great guests stars and a brilliant ensemble cast including Emily Rose, Eric Balfour, Lucas Bryant, Nicholas Campbell, Stephen McHattie who was featured in Happy Town, Gary Levert, Richard Donat, Michelle Monteith and as mentioned above, one of my favorite actresses who returns in tonight’s season two premiere, Kathleen Munroe (Stargate Universe)! Ms. Munroe reprises her role as the alternate Audrey Parker from the season one episode thirteen cliffhanger “Spiral”!

Haven S2x01 - A Tale of Two Audreys

Haven S2x01 - A Tale of Two Audreys too

We include “Spiral” below courtesy of Syfy via Hulu which sets the stage for this evenings season two opener of “A Tale of Two Audrey’s”!

Now what can we share with you about this evenings premiere other than the promotional trailer from Syfy? Well, we have viewed the season two premiere and will include a number of exclusive images below the trailer!

    # # #

    # # #

What else we can share with you about this awesome premiere? First off it is wonderful to see Kathleen Munroe once again. She is an awesome actress and we sincerely say welcome back to the screen, Errrr Haven Ms. Munroe, Errrrr Audry Parker! Oh frak! Alternate reality Audry welcome to HAVEN for goodness sakes!

Haven S2x01 - A Tale of Two Audreys too
Second we would suggest a very strong umbrella for what is about to happen in Haven. Next we recommend if you are allergic to bee stings, you might want to leave Haven altogether or be prepared to face anaphylactic shock and potential death! In fact if you have an aversion to insects in general you may elect to do some heavy drinking of adult beverages to lesson what is happening in the town! Last but not least you will want more than adult beverages at the church where our always suspect Reverend Ed Driscoll (Stephen McHattie) explains the happenings! Let me say that you will no doubt be shocked! Just remember your biblical scripture and please bear in mind that “The lamb cannot lay down with the lion”!

Haven S2x01 - A Tale of Two Audreys cuffed too

Naturally the title of the season two premiere says it all! With two Audrey Rose characters in the mix of reality, who is the real one! When you find out that answer and what is happening, the stage will indeed be set for an epic season two of Haven! The real question for us all to consider is whether Haven will have two Audrey’s from here on out? To find out that answer, we strongly suggest that you tune in to Haven to find out the secrets of Audrey Parker and just who is the “alternate in the realities”!

Haven S2x01 - Emily Rose as Audrey Parker number 1

Haven S2x01 - Kathleen Munroe as Audrey Parker number 2
