Well here we are at the end…or is it?

With the announcement of NBC not renewing the beloved Debris series for a second season, this episode leaves even more unanswered questions. I am, as are countless fans, a bit disappointed with the cancellation of such a fabulous show.

Word of the cancellation sent a multitude of tweet storms voicing the utter disappointment, shock, disbelief, and denial that accompanies a wrong decision by the network. Alas, if it were up to me, I would have kept the property on for another season at least. Knowing how the showrunner/creator J. H. Wyman is, he no doubt had a whole story arc planned out for a second (and possibly more) seasons.

Fans of Joel’s know that his intelligent series are never cookie cutter, formulaic series, they are always complex and cerebral. Sadly, the majority of viewers seem to not want to think when watching television. It appears that they would rather just be entertained and not have to use their brains. As in life the majority rules, so the fate of Debris series was decided by the that majority. I am hoping that another platform will pick up Debris series, perhaps Netflix or Amazon may throw their hat in hat ring. Oh well, let us begin, shall we?

This episode was written by the maestro himself and once again directed by Eagle Egilsson. Throughout the series one thing has remained constant, the incredible scenery of Canada that has served as a backdrop to the other cities it was emulating. Michael Wale is the cinematographer for this episode and his use of the natural landscape is beautiful and breathtaking. Often times the environment or city is another character in certain series, lending itself and all its beauty to the story and often helping give the viewer a better understanding of the story. This episode is no exception, the rocky terrain and mountain side provide a stark backdrop to the beginning of this episode.

    Celestial Body:

Debris S1x13 Finola and Bryan confirm Anson Ash has escaped

With Bryan (Jonathan Tucker) and Finola (Riann Steele) being informed that Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip) has escaped from prison by teleporting out, we come to find that his body was riddled with Debris. This information definitely ups the ante regarding helping George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) to stay hidden.

George in the meantime is watching out for any strange goings in at the facility he has been hiding out at trying to figure out the latest debris. He sees a strange entity that looks like a human but is not actually fully formed. When Bryan and Finola come to pick him up, he is definitely on edge. Bryan and Finola sense this tension, leave it alone. Later we will find out this is an apparent mistake by taking no action.

George dons his now infamous tin foil cape and finally goes with them insisting that they make a very quick getaway. This new Debris incident has brought a number of people to this remote area (the beautiful mountain side) where the people are all facing East for some unknown reason. The people are absolutely still, like chess pieces but experience odd emotional outbursts like crying and laughing in unison.

Debris S1x13 George, Bryan and Finola head to the incident where people are facing east

George hypothesizes that they all must have come into contact with the alien objects before hand and are now instructed to come to this place for a specific reason. Bryan and Finola are worried that the same fate will befall these people as did their colleagues back at the lab who all died after two hours. The race to find the cause and fix the matter is of the utmost.

Bryan then brings up a question to Finola that she may not want to hear. Bryan asks if they can still trust her father? If George does remember correctly, or if “Influx” planted those memories, or information in his brain when he was reanimated. I can understand his hesitation especially since George has been acting strangely since Bryan and Finola tracked George down, picked him up, and saved him several Debris series episodes ago.

Next, we get to see Julia Maddox (Jennifer Copping) with her son Dario (Christian Rose) teaching him words. You can see the anguish on her face and the utter guilt that she still has because of the accident she caused putting her son in this wheelchair. We had the immense pleasure of interviewing Jennifer Copping before the finale, and I can say what a great person as well as talented actress she is!

Jennifer gave us a hint during her interview about the finale episode in as much as she said it will be emotional and she was right. Her emotion came through with such sadness that you could feel her pain in every gesture she made toward Dario. It was a harrowing scene to say the least because you were left with a feeling of dread.

Debris S1x13 Irina and Maddox meet to swap Debris offering Irina another door for her

Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) has been a complete enigma since the beginning of the Debris series. Viewers were never quite sure if Maddox was a good guy, or a bad guy until the “Celestial Body” episode.

Maddox always toed that line of greater good or was perceived as a spy for the enemy. This is the confirmation that Maddox has been a good guy all along and we see that at the end of this episode.

Craig Maddox meets again with the Russian operative Irina (Andrea Stefancikova) that we have seen before in the Debris series. Maddox has been seeking and wants to obtain a specific part of the alien artifacts that deals with a special type of communications. Viewers may have thought this alien object that Irina brings to their meeting dealt with electronic communications.

Debris S1x13 Irina looks at Maddox after he says there is another door for you Irina
Debris S1x13 Irina looks at Maddox after he says there is another door for you Irina. Image courtesy NBC

We will learn later in this episode that Craig Maddox knows something about this specific alien artifact that Irina is bringing to him. We do not know what that is at this point. This factor reveals the actual motivation of Craig Maddox that is both sincere and is not related to Andrea being a spy.

We witness Maddox sincerely offering “another door for you Irina”. Reading between the lines, this obviously has a meaning, a way for Irina to defect from Russia to the United States.

Andrea told us in her wonderful interview that Maddox had offered to help Irina defect in exchange for the alien object that he wants, but that part was unfortunately left on the cutting room floor.

This scene, though, again does not yet give us the full picture of what Maddox is up to, and still has us wondering if he maybe killed her agent boss after getting the alien artifacts he wanted or is it something more sinister?

Debris S1x13 People with newborn infants are all facing east
Debris S1x13 People with newborn infants are all facing east. Image courtesy NBC

We learn that the common thread is that all the people facing East at the mountain location is that they all have newborns, which George comments on as the reason they are all currently connected. He mentions “energy emotional emergence”. The heightened emotional state they are all in now that they have a newborn. The highs and lows of it, the lack of sleep, the worry, the extra added stress. The people run through a gamut of emotions from laughter to anger due to them being emotionally connected. It is a fascinating scene to watch unfold as you can see how each individual handles those emotions. Bryan is perplexed to say the least while Finola is preoccupied with helping her father.

Joel’s theme of human connection is predominant in this episode. This episode is probably the most emotionally charged episode of the season. From the people in the grips of the debris to what transpires later on certainly gave the viewers something to think about.

What made this particular episode the most epic episode in the history of television (in my opinion) is the addition of the absolutely wonderful, spectacular, brilliant John Noble as Otto.

I was beyond happy to see John be a part of this episode. Since seeing him on Fringe I have become a lifelong fan and ANYTIME John is on my television it elevates that episode or series that much higher. I am also so happy that he got to use his native Australian accent.

John Noble’s character of Otto is seen with Anson and Loeb (Ben Cotton) at a gas station where he just exited out of the station store. When Anson questions Otto about what he had done, Anson goes into the store and finds victims in twisted, compact states. It is creepy and telling about who Otto really is.

Debris S1x13 Otto sets up a device to stop the Debris from affecting people
Debris S1x13 Otto sets up a device to stop the Debris from affecting people. Image courtesy NBC

Seeing John again reminded me of the character he played on Fringe either as Walter Bishop or as Walternate. Otto is definitely neither, he makes Walternate look like a pussy cat in comparison. With the leather jacket, jeans and tattoos, Otto far surpasses Walternate in being a bad ass. I do love that Joel keeps it all in the family. That we have seen two actors from the Fringe universe in Debris, Sebastian Roché and John Noble, Joel has also brought us some Easter eggs or little signs of Fringe again in Debris series. I enjoyed it immensely.

As more and more people join the already big group of people connected by the alien artifact, Bryan suggests shutting it down to break the connection. It is the only way to save them. Finola asks her father about the recalibration. George says she can touch it; that it will not harm her. Finola’s reluctance is noticeable, but she trusts her father enough to take his word and does touch the alien artifact. It does not harm her but does glow red under her touch. I suspect this was on purpose that George instructed Finola to do that and at the end of the episode is maybe the reason why he asked her to do that.

Debris S1x13 George tells Finola about this Debris object
Debris S1x13 George tells Finola about the characteristics of this specific Debris object. Image courtesy NBC

George tells Finola that in order to release the people from the grips of the alien artifact that their memories will be wiped completely. Finola objects but George insists that she must let it happen in order for him to save their lives and allow them to be released. George says we have no choice, to which Finola replies that we always have a choice.

As they argue back and forth about regarding this specific alien artifact, we hear Finola saying that she can find a way and George insisting that there is no time. George finally tells her that Influx agents are on their way. Finola is visibly shaken at this news and then George delivers the bombshell; he called them!

This is when the episode takes a sharp turn into the meatiest part of the episode. This is where you as the viewer may question and find yourself in a quandary right along with Finola. George confesses to her that he did indeed commit suicide in order for a rebirth to happen, for which he paid the price.

Debris S1x13 Finola thinks George is delusional
Debris S1x13 Finola thinks her father George is delusional. Image courtesy NBC

Finola thinks that George is still delusional because of what happened to him, when in actuality he deceived her from the beginning. “If we cannot help people then we do not deserve this debris” George said to her. He told her that he knew she was coming to rescue him, but that she came too early.

George tells her that the United States has been weaponizing the alien artifacts and so have other countries such as China and Russia. He had mentioned that other governments cannot be trusted to be the guardians of the alien objects, it should be used for good.

What George mentioned about the debris is that specific debris in consort with others “will enable the transformation of the human mind so that humanity can ascend to a higher plane of consciousness and thought”. This last part of the episode is where, for me, “Celestial Body” gets remarkably interesting.

Click to learn about Nikola Tesla
Click to learn about Nikola Tesla

It reminds me of one of my father’s heroes, Nikola Tesla, who was so far beyond his time that it was his downfall. Another genius in his time this reminds me of was Leonardo da Vinci. Both men were far beyond what we consider genius, they were on a level that, dare I say other worldly? Their inventions and discoveries were for the betterment of man but have since been used for weapons and destruction. J. Robert Oppenheimer as well never intended his invention to become the atom bomb, but alas it did.

Both Da Vinci and Tesla were men that were feared by their respective governments so much so that they were almost silenced for their inventions, thoughts, and intellect. They both have often said that they had dreams or visions that were not of this world. That their knowledge or some of their ideas come from outside the realm of consciousness and maybe considered extraterrestrial. That concept those men like them have maybe had the knowledge of the universe and the ages has plagued them for centuries. So much so that both Tesla and da Vinci became recluses during parts of their lives. Tesla wanted to share his inventions with the world for free, but the government prevented him from doing so. The Shakespeare quote from Hamlet “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Also, it begs the question that there are things in this world that even though we cannot see them they are still there and always have been. That there are entities that can pass through this world, energy, spirits, connections, and that are a part of this realm whether we see them or not is amazing.

Debris S1x13 Finola is captured by Influx

When Otto, Anson and Loeb show up things get tense. Finola is still devastated by her father’s admission to her and cannot figure out why he did this. George mentions to Otto that a telesphere was born yesterday out of a pocket universe inside Orbital and its arrival may have been triggered by the alien artifacts as a whole. Loeb tells Finola that she must be so proud of her father, that he has a vision that only he can see. He knows what we can be, what we should be…humanity. This episode turned everything on its head for sure.

Once the alien object is hooked up to the machine that Otto brought, George asks how long before the people will die? Otto informs him that it will be quick, and George asks if he can ease them off the bottle, instead. Their minds will still be erased, but things can be learned again. This part reminded me of the movie Johnny Mnemonic who is a “mnemonic courier” that transports sensitive data via an implant in his brain, but at the cost of his childhood memories. The irony of that movie is “In 2021, society is driven by a virtual Internet, which has created a degenerate effect called “nerve attenuation syndrome” or NAS. Mega corporations control much of the world, intensifying the class hostility already created by NAS.” Sound familiar? That is exactly what George is trying to prevent by trying to get the alien artifacts away from governments and corporations.

Debris S1x13 Finola is forced to take the blue pill to avoid her memory from being erased

Finola is then given a blue pill (like The Matrix) to help her from having her mind erased. She vehemently protests taking it but is forced to do so by Anson. As the machine is activated it sends out a wave that disrupts the connection to the Debris causing the transfixed people to fall like dominos. Bryan is also affected by this wave blast; he barely survives but is definitely struggling when he gets to Finola and the other men.

As Bryan approaches, Otto mentions that Bryan must be the “Third Man”, that aside from Garcia and Ming, Bryan was also given the injections that may have just saved his life from the debris. What Otto says next gives the viewer a what the heck moment, Otto says “wonderful job in hiding your identity” which begs the question; who is Bryan Beneventi really? Is he perhaps an entity from another dimension that shape shifted into Bryan?

Was Bryan exposed to alien artifacts way before we get to meet him? What reality are we in and why does Otto extract, by putting his hand close to Bryan’s head, what I assume is information from him. “Wonderful meeting you” Otto finally says as he bids a farewell to Bryan.

Debris S1x13 Bryan survives the mind erasure because of his injections

George insists the alien artifact must stay with him. “There are things you have no knowledge of about the debris. There are things that only I know-you belong with me, your father.” Finola’s answer is a gut punch, but makes perfect sense to her “My father died six months ago; you are not him” as far as she is concerned. George then says a final word to her “This tech will be free” just like what Tesla wanted with his discoveries and tech.

As the episode climaxes, we find out that Bryan about his injury in an alien artifact incident with Garcia (Zak Santiago) and Ming, which he has to admit to Finola that he has been taking the injections since the incident. He has been taking precautions to “stave off something” but did not know what. Now we do!

I think it was preparing him for when the alien artifact was activated in “Celestial Body”. It would certainly explain why Bryan has been having a different experience regarding the debris than Finola. Why his time in the military was secretive, why he kept being in a time loop in the dual Icarus episodes.

Debris S1x13 The Sandman follows Otto Loeb and Anson

Bryan thinks this is the first time something has happened because of the injections, when it was probably happening all along, he just never put it together. He claims he has never seen Otto before, but that does not mean that Otto is not Ming as a shapeshifter.

Bryan tells Finola that they need to inform Maddox of what just happened, but who knows if Maddox already knows or not?

Otto tells George that “it would have never worked out with the girl in any iteration”, meaning Finola I assume. As the men are driving down the scenic road, an alien “Sandman” appears and George spots it, then they all do.

Once the car passes the entity, the entity turns around and follows the car. But does it continue to do so as it disappears and becomes invisible? That is the last we see of the men, the question being where they are going with the debris and what will happen to Bryan once he recovers?

Debris S1x13 Craig uses the Debris to allow Dario to speak again
.Debris S1x13 Craig uses the Debris to allow Dario to speak again Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

The final scenes are poignant. It made me think that Maddox is a good guy in this last time when we see with him. Craig comes home with the alien communications artifact that he received from Irina, asking Linda (Jennifer-Juniper Angeli) the babysitter where Julia is.

Linda says that she is upstairs napping as she had a headache and Linda stayed to make sure everything was okay. This scene made me nervous because when Maddox calls out to his wife who is in bed, she does not answer him right away. He tries again a few more times until Julia finally wakes up and hugs her husband tightly.

A sigh of relief came over me that Julia did not do what she intended to do. She tells Craig that she almost did something but stopped herself. He does not suspect anything is wrong thankfully but does ask her to come downstairs with him.

Debris S1x13 The communications Debris allows Dario to speak again
Debris S1x13 The communications Debris allows Dario to speak again. Image courtesy NBC

We see that the alien artifact that Maddox received from the Russians is set up and projecting a force field like shield around Dario.

We can see that Julia is confused about what Craig is doing. Then when Dario says “Mom” to Julia, she understands what her husband has been doing, which then makes Julia shed tears of joy.

Clearly at this point the viewer knows that the whole reasoning behind Maddox getting his hands on the debris was to heal his son.

This also makes the viewer wonder what exactly the alien artifacts are going to be used for in the future? Was this kind of thing what George meant by the greater good? The elevated humanity that the alien artifacts sent here to help people with their problems?

Debris S1x13 The blue orb arrives in Sedona Arizona
Debris S1x13 The blue orb arrives in Sedona Arizona. Image courtesy NBC

In the final scene of the series, we are back in Sedona, Arizona where a blue orb has arrived next to the Indigenous man that we saw in a previous episode.

The man says to the blue orb that it must have had a long journey and that his name is Dahkeya (Julian Black Antelope). The blue orb follows Dakheya into a cave where we see another Fringe alum, Sebastian Roché (Brill).

Brill mentions something about the piece of a specific alien artifact in Virginia. and then we see a clone (at least to me) of Finola.

Brill says, “Let’s begin” and that was the end of the episode. With the title of this episode being “Celestial Body”, I have no doubt that is most likely referring to not only the clone or Finola, but maybe others as well, perhaps Bryan or Otto or more people or aliens that we had yet to meet?

Debris S1x13 Brill says lets begin as we see another Finola in a force field
Debris S1x13 Brill says lets begin as we see another Finola in a force field. Image courtesy NBC

Unfortunately, with the cancellation of this series we will never find out what was going to happen with that Finola clone or what other things the alien artifacts can do.

What George Jones may be doing with the objects if the spheres at Orbital would ever be completed?

What would have become of Dario? Would he have been completely cured?

So many questions that we will never know because the series has ended. It pains me to no end that, yet another sci-fi show of great intelligence and story has ended because it was too cerebral for the masses.

That maybe the point of the Debris series, the humanity we have been seeking the last few millennia has slipped through our fingers once again.

I want to personally thank Joel Wyman, Jonathan Tucker, Rianne Steele, Norbert Leo Butz, Jennifer Copping, Scroobius Pip, John Noble, Andrea Stefancikova, and every single person involved in this beautiful show. I am keeping my fingers crossed that another forum would decide to pick up this property and give it the wonderful chance it so richly deserves to keep telling this amazing story of connection and humanity.

Thank you as always Debris fans. Make sure to let NBC know politely that you watched Debris on NBC and watched it on Peacock TV. Doing so may help Save Debris and Renew Debris!

Welcome back Debris Lovers, WormholeRiders, and admirers of the terrifically talented actor Jennifer Copping!

On Monday May 24, 2021, Kenn and Lori of TeamWHR were honored to interview Jennifer Copping!

Ms. Copping portrays the fascinating character of Julia Maddox in the hit science fiction series Debris which has just completed it’s season one run in the United States with the tagline. “Three years ago, images were captured of a wrecked alien spacecraft moving through our solar system,” it says. “For the past six months, Debris from that spacecraft has been falling to Earth.”

Jennifer Copping’s long list of acting accomplishments recently include a recurring role on NBC’s superb science fiction series Debris, and a starring or featured roles in science fiction or fantasy series that we have enjoyed over the past years.

Our first fond memories of Ms. Copping were in MGM Studios fabled Stargate SG-1 series, followed by Kingdom Hospital, Continuum, Supernatural, Van Helsing, Travelers and many other outstanding roles that Jennifer has been featured in during her fantastic career in the entertainment industry.

Featured in four episodes of Debris series season one, Jennifer Copping’s Julia Maddox character provides valuable insight into the private life with her husband Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz), a team leader at the CIA who is the titular manager of the Orbital Division assigned to track down alien objects, a collaboration between the CIA and MI6 of the United Kingdom. In “Celestial Body” Julia plays a pivotal role along with Irina (Andrea Stefancikova) and her husband, Bryan (Jonathan Tucker), Finola (Riann Steele) and her son Dario (Christian Rose) that includes a special surprise guest appearance of John Noble from Fringe working with George Jones (Tyrone Benskin), Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip) and Loeb (Ben Cotton) of Influx!

Our detailed analysis about this outstanding A PLUS PLUS episode and the Renew Debris news will be published in the near future, so stand by to have your mind blown, or erased as the case may be!

Julia and Craig Maddox protrayed by Jennifer Copping and Norbert Leo Butz. Image courtesy NBC

The Julia Maddox story arc resumed in the ninth episode, “Do You Know Icarus“, a time travel reality change episode that gave Debris series viewers more indications Julia’s marriage to Craig has been under extreme stress due to a horrible accident that crippled their son as we learned in the fourth episode called “In Universe” is something that eroded the relationship between Julia and Craig Maddox.

This tragic accident ultimately led to an apparent divorce proceeding in the series that we discussed with Ms. Copping in her extended interview featured below for your enjoyment.

What is most interesting is that in episode ten, “I Am Icarus“, which apparently restored reality in the Debris series, appears to have left an unanswered question; whether or not viewers were returned to the same reality or not?

The season one finale “Celestial Body” airing on Monday May 24, 2021 appears to have addressed these questions with direct evidence, but opened up new questions or areas about Julia and Craig that are to be investigated in the second season of the Debris series

Jennifer Copping was born on June 9, 1979 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in a town named Sechelt located in an area of the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, approximately 50 kilometers northwest of Vancouver, now known affectionately as Hollywood North.

Beginning her acting, singing and dancing career at a a very early age, Jennifer first appeared in a series called “Booker” followed by appearances in “21 Jump Street” and “Neon Rider” in 1990 and 1991.

Jennifer capped her early career with a supporting role in the beloved fantasy mythology series “Highlander” in 1994.

Of great interest to live stage acting theater lovers, Jennifer was hand-picked by Pete Townshend to play the original “Sally Simpson” in the Toronto, Canada musical stage production of The Who’s “Tommy” in 1995.

Jennifer then went on to appear in the reboot of 1960’s cult television classic science fiction show called “The Outer Limits” with appearances in 1998 and 1999.

As mentioned above, Jennifer Copping initially came to our attention in 2000 with her appearance as a character Mallin in an episode called “New Ground” in the third season of the MGM Studios hit series Stargate SG-1 that went on to a successful ten season run ony SYFY.

SG-1 was filmed primarily in Vancouver like many television series and movies. When we next heard of Jennifer, we our team was watching a trailer for a 2011 pilot series named “Captain Starship”  that featured Stargate celebrities. Team WHR had seen the promotional trailer at a San Diego Comic-Con event and at a Creation Entertainment Stargate convention. Jennifer has also appeared twice in the iconic series “Supernatural” in 2007 and 2014.

Our next reunion with Jennifer, prior to Debris series, was in 2014 when she was featured in “Continuum Series“, followed by a three episode story arc as a character named “Quaid” in the hit science fiction fantasy series “Van Helsing” in 2016.

In late 2020, we were extremely pleased to find out that Ms. Copping would be appearing in the Debris series. Lori and I decided to reach out to catch up with this fine actress. We thank Ms. Copping for the Shout Out above and for her time with an extended interview featured below our mutual enjoyment. We learned much more about Julia Maddox this week in the season one finale “Celestial Body”, and like all science fiction admirers, hope the series is renewed for a second, third, fourth, and fifth season as envisioned by Joel J.H. Wyman!

Please make certain to let NBC know that you want more Debris on NBC on-line and tell everyone you know to watch again  on Peacock TV to help Renew Debris. Thank you!

In what we hoped will be a cliff hanger gateway episode to a second, third, fourth, and fifth season as this groundbreaking work of entertainment sweeps the world in 2022 and beyond, Debris series represents such outstanding quality that many believe the series should have already been renewed.

However, as is somewhat a tradition in the entertainment industry for programs “on the bubble”, in our opinion, a Renew Debris announcement is being withheld until one week after the season one finale airs on Monday May 24, 2021 which makes good business sense. What we find amazing here at WormholeRiders News Agency is why this program was even on the bubble to begin with and why Debris series has not yet scored a live viewing audience numbering in the five to seven million range?

In “A Message From Ground Control”, is described by NBC Entertainment  as follows “As George grows closer to finding what he is after, the Debris that Orbital has collected begins a mysterious process”. The description by Team WHR of this episode?

In our opinion, “A Message From Ground Control” is another A PLUS effort from the Debris series creators!

The episode opens with a lab technician in a huge Orbital warehouse filled with numbered boxes and specially sealed cases that obviously are loaded with alien objects. He is taking readings on each case or box for some type of inventory control procedure.

Strange noises are heard as one of the sealed case seems to have crawled off the shelf by itself, moving several feet in the process. While returning the case to it’s assigned place, another sealed case mysteriously moves off another shelf a few feet away and continues to journey towards some destination that we are unaware of.

Just when things could not get any scarier, an explosion is heard and a bluish looking alien object crashes through a sealed case from inside it and flies into the lab technician, killing him.

The object is observed impacting with one of the large alien objects that we have witnessed Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) reconstructing in the Orbital warehouse and then through the wall to the outside.

Another lab technician looking for his associate enters, finds his co-worker dead and sees other alien objects moving in single file towards another pathway near the larger alien objects.

Suddenly, the lights in the entire Orbital warehouse go dark making whatever the aliens are up to things an even spookier incident in the Orbital facility!

We move to George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) who is using a pair of bolt cutters to enter a secret facility in Arco, Virginia within the United States. George says “I come in peace” to no one in particular.

George makes his way into the compound of a moth balled top secret facility featuring a huge radio transmitter array that had been used to transmit news reports to the allied forces and spies during World War II and afterwards.

Debris S1x12 George meets Finola and Bryan at the moth balled facility

George is joined at the facility by his daughter Finola (Riann Steele) and her partner Bryan (Jonathan Tucker) where we learn that George plans to use the facility to boost his signals to figure out what “Influx” is working on; and execute a method to track and identify all the pieces of alien technology currently on Earth, regardless of location.

George warns Bryan and Finola that if “Influx” gets a hold of the piece of Debris that he is looking for, it could end their quest to figure it all out.

George in convinced that he can use the array to tap into satellites that will identify the piece of alien technology that “Influx” was having him build a device for.

Debris S1x12 George discusses Maddox with Finola and Bryan

While Bryan is bringing in boxes of equipment that George needs, Finola wants to know why Maddox tried to kill her father.

George tells Finola that he believes that Maddox is a control freak using his government position for his own and the governments nefarious purposes that were never revealed to him (George).

In this episode we will find out precisely what Maddox has been doing, and why! Bryan returns informing Finola that they have been recalled to Orbital due to an emergency at the warehouse.

Finola and Bryan arrive at Orbital headquarters in Langley Virginia and link up with Agent Tom (Thomas Cadrot) and Craig Maddox who informs them that eight agents are missing and that the entire facility lost power as we observed at the beginning of the episode. Maddox believes that the objects are being “recalled” by “influx” for some nefarious purpose, however he will prove to be incorrect in this regard.

Debris S1x12 Finola and Bryan enter the darkened Orbital facility to investigate

Wearing protective suits, Finola and Bryan with a number of Orbital Agents enter the darkened warehouse and find several of the missing agents who are all looking blankly at a wall in a corridor in some sort of a trance.

Proceeding to the Orbital warehouse alien objects storage area, Bryan finds that the technician that was killed has suffered massive head trauma.

The Orbital team find another group of technicians, also in a trance, who are stacking boxes of alien artifacts in a neat organized row within a walkway between the storage racks of various alien objects stored in numbered boxes.

None of the Orbital technicians respond when questioned by Bryan. It is if as they are being commanded by the aliens to achieve their purpose and are oblivious to any interference by the humans.

The storage cases of numbered Debris begin moving by themselves and then disappear in some sort of a wormhole portal.

Suspected to likely be caused by Anson Ash of “Influx”, who has demonstrated in previous episode that they have the ability to transport objects and human beings, we will learn that is not possible since he remains in prison. What will be revealed is that no human being is involved with this seemingly magical transport process.

Each case that is transported, in each instance, has had the alien object(s) removed and then returns several feet down the pathway, crushed and torn apart.

We have also witnessed Maddox using the same technology using a “pocket dimension” to transport chairs but never any alien objects. It becomes apparent that the specific objects are being collected by the aliens for their specific, yet to be disclosed function.

Finola begins the process of cataloging which alien objects are being taken through the “pocket dimension” portal to attempt to make a logical connection on what makes them desirable to whomever is retrieving them.

Back at the communication array George is observed making progress on his alien object tracking system performing his part in this mysterious series of events.

Debris S1x12 The Orbital team check the Debris to ascertain what is happening

Inside the Orbital facility infirmary, Doctor April Han (Michelle Choi-Lee) is tending to  the technical lab people who are in a trance, but are being called away by whoever or whatever is controlling them. Any attempts to stop the technician’s ends up resulting in each person to begin shaking and convulsing.

Bryan instructs the medical staff to let them go, following them to where they are being sent; a boardroom section of the warehouse with a glass window where they are looking at larger sections of the alien objects that have been reconstructed  by Maddox!

When Finola is unable to identify why each piece is being taken, an Orbital Agent named Lester Chin (Howie Lai) suggest they move the stacked cases away from the “pocket dimension” portal transporter. However, when Chin tries to move a case of Debris, he too is sent into a trance and joins the other technicians staring into the warehouse.

Suddenly, Zimmer (Evan Rein), one of the lab technicians who was affected in the beginning of the episode, begins to convulse violently and falls to the ground dead! Finola states “How long before the same thing happens to the rest of them?”

Debris S1x12 George explains the alien harmonics to Finola

Meanwhile, George continues his work on the communications array, successfully reactivating the equipment. Finola reaches out to George who is able to deduce that the connection between the alien objects being sent through the “pocket dimension” portal.

George explains that readings Finola is observing are harmonic in nature. George theorizes that exposure to these harmonics at close range are what killed Zimmer and threatens the other Orbital technicians.

George cautioning Finola to be careful, shares a method to block the harmonics by reversing the polarity on the Orbital equipment. George believes that such an attempt may stop the aliens artifacts from passing through the portal that has appeared in the Orbital warehouse.

Calibrating the devices works revealing a clue that leads Finola and Bryan to an underground laboratory facility that turns out to be an antimatter weapons facility that Maddox setup using George’s work!

Debris S1x12 Maddox is confronted by Finola
Maddox is confronted by Finola. Image courtesy NBC

Finola confronts Maddox who claims that he was only working on the antimatter weapons technology to protect the United States from efforts by China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and “Influx” who are also working on the same technology!

Finola storms out of Maddox’s office stating that her father was nearly killed trying to protect everyone from just such an alien object disaster.

Back in the Orbital warehouse, the lab technicians in a trance are being directed to attack the Orbital devices that are successfully blocking the “pocket dimension” transport portal. When one of them touch the devices, he is instantly vaporized!

Bryan and Finola are able to save all but one of the lab technicians taking them away from the Orbital devices, securing them for safekeeping elsewhere in the Orbital facility. April Han confirms Finola’s suspicions; that the harmonic frequencies are what in effect what likely boiled the brains out of Zimmer.

Debris S1x12 Marie Caldwell and Asalah appear in front of Bryan

Bryan is guarding the secured technicians when the power in the Orbital facility begins to come back on. Bryan thinks he is hallucinating when first he sees Asalah (Zarina Sterling) then Marie Caldwell (Erin Karpluk), the women who also appeared to him in “Asalah” is once again in front of him asking him “Why?” extending her hand which Bryan grasps.

It becomes obvious the aliens are controlling the appearance of Marie and Asalah just as in the previous episode. Bryan confesses to Finola that the alien object directed him to allow the “pocket dimension” transport to complete the process or many people will die.

Bryan asks Finola to help the alien objects complete their process. It is apparent that they are doing so on their own volition with the express approval of Craig Maddox.

Debris S1x12 Once the aliens process is complete a beautiful ball of light appears
Once the aliens process is complete, a beautiful ball of light appears. Image courtesy NBC

Once the last alien object is freed from it’s location in the weapons lab by Bryan and Finola, completing the aliens process, a silver ball of light materializes, orients itself and exits the Orbital facility.

The beautiful ball of light hovers above the crowd of Orbital staff gathered outside, pausing briefly, almost as if it is thanking Bryan and Finola for their help before it disappears into the night sky.

    The question to consider?

Is the ball of light an alien artificial intelligence, or the alien life forms themselves?

Debris S1x12 Anson Ash completes his escape plan

In the meantime, as the episode winds down to an exciting conclusion, three mind boggling things happen near the end of the episode that reveal exactly where we will all be going in the Debris series season one finale “Celestial Body”.

First, Anson Ash tricks the prison guards into taking him to the hospital because they have detected an alien object inside him. There is little doubt that Anson has ingested the object on purpose in order to activate the alien dimensional transport technology he has used before for his well planned escape. How this alien object was not detected while he was in custody is not known.

Anson uses electro cardio shock paddles which activates the alien artifact inside him and he is transported away from the prison to meet up with Loeb (Ben Cotton)!

Debris S1x12 Irina calls Maddox to inform him the alien object is in Virginia
Irina calls Maddox to inform him the alien object is in Virginia. Image courtesy NBC

Second, George is observed talking with Finola. George shares that when the alien object disappeared into the night sky that the remaining lab technicians were freed from the trance. George shares with Finola that he has completed his work at the communications array, telling Finola that the alien object that he has been looking for is in Virginia!

Third, our mysterious Russian agent Irina (Andrea Stefancikova) is witnessed once again talking to Maddox via cell phone. Maddox wants to know “if it is here?”. Irina says yes it is in the State (of Virginia) in a remote location. Irina and Maddox agree to “do it tomorrow”!

    Conclusions:

At this point in the Debris series, can there be any doubt that whatever it is that Irina and Maddox will do next week, it is also what George, Bryan, Finola AND Anson Ash are also seeking?!?

We are certain the answer we seek will in the season one finale “Celestial Body” next week! Make sure to watch Debris on NBC or you can watch the next day on Peacock TV. See you next week for what will be a superb season concluding episode that we hope ensures that Renew Debris becomes manifest!

Andrea’s long list of acting credits recently include a recurring role on NBC’s superb science fiction series Debris, and a starring role in “American Badger”, an action adventure film that is scheduled to premiere in the United States on June 15th, 2021.

Last week, on May 06, 2021, TeamWHR was honored to interview Andrea Stefancikova who is perfectly portraying an enigmatic character named “Irina” in the hit science fiction series Debris as seen on NBC Monday nights in the United States. The mysterious nature of Irina is further enhanced by the opening sequence words that tantalize those who believe that alien life forms have been monitoring planet Earth for millennia and finally arrived!

“Three years ago, images were captured of a wrecked alien spacecraft moving through our solar system,” it says. “For the past six months, Debris from that spacecraft has been falling to Earth.”

According to our sources about the science fiction series, Stefancikova had been filmed in four Debris episodes including the Pilot episode, and is featured in three broadcast episodes including “Supernova” which revealed Irina as a Russian agent of suspect origins.

Debris S1 Andrea and Norbert Leo Butz
Debris Season One – Andrea and Norbert Leo Butz. Image courtesy Andrea Stefancikova

In Supernova Irina was observed delivering an alien communications artifact to a character named Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz). Maddox is a CIA agent somehow associated with Irina in a past life. Maddox is the head of the “Orbital” division which has been collecting the alien artifacts that have survived their arrival on Earth.

Exactly how Stefancikova’s episode appearance, when the alien artifacts were discovered falling to Earth, and her relationship with Maddox, remains a mystery at this point.

Apparently the creators wisely felt that it would reveal too much regarding her interactions as a Russian agent dealing with the seemingly corrupt Craig Maddox character if revealed too early in the series.

We agree since it has increased the suspense about exactly who Irina is, and how she originally met Craig Maddox and how this relates to the two main Orbital agents, Finola Jones (Riann Steele) and Bryan Beneventi (Jonathan Tucker).

However, according to NBC, Legendary Studios and Frequency Films, and to our sheer delight, Andrea Stefancikova is featured in the two final episodes of the Debris season one run; episode twelve “A Message From Ground Control” airing on May 17, 2021, and the season one finale named “Celestial Body” airing on May 24, 2021.

Each of the next two episodes promise to reveal more about her Russian character and Irina’s involvement with Maddox. We are very excited to see what transpires over the next two weeks and hope that the series will be renewed for several more seasons with additional appearances of Irina!

We include a five minute video shout out from Andrea Stefancikova below and an extended audio interview below for your enjoyment.

Additionally, Team WHR includes Andrea’s answers to our questions in a text format as well that features more details about Andrea not discussed in the audio interview.

In addition to Stefancikova, Promiseland featured several celebrities that Team WHR admires including Michael Kopsa and Adrian Hough, both featured in Joel J.H. Wyman’s iconic Fringe series, as well as Zak Santiago (Ghost Wars and Fringe). Santiago also appeared in the Debris episode “Do You Know Icarus” broadcast on April 26, 2021.

Andrea may be best known for her notable appearances in the multi-award winning films such as “Below Her Mouth”, “Unmasked” and “Dark Harvest“. Andrea stars in Corona (2020) as one of the ensemble cast in the film, a world-wide recognized drama as the first Covid-19 feature film. Andrea was also featured in 2019 in the beloved Supernatural series during it’s successful fifteen season run. Team WHR first became aware of Andrea Stefancikova’s talent in a 2012 film named “13 Witches”, which we covered at that time.

Andrea Stefancikova was born in a town named Bratislava that was once within the Communist sphere of influence in a country called Czechoslovakia. Subsequent to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Bratislava became the capital of the country now known as Slovakia.

    Andrea Stefancikova Interview Additional Q&A:

    1. How have you enjoyed playing the role of Irina on Debris?

I really loved playing this mysterious and intelligent woman. This is my first sci-fy show I have worked on and it’s Joel Wyman’s show! How cool is that!

    2. Irina is a strong and intelligent woman, is that something you look for in a role?

I look for different things in each role, and intelligence and strength are definitely something I search in each role amongst other things

    3. How much of Andrea is in Irina?

A lot! Could you tell from the phone interview?

    4. Where would you like to see Irina go in a season 2 if it is renewed?

Fingers and toes crossed Debris is renewed. My gut tells me it will be. If Irina comes back, it will be a dream come true!! I’d like to know more about how Irina and Maddox met, and what sort of back-story they have. Norbert and I came up with a solid one when we first worked togetherJ Why do they keep dealing with each other and also, what does she want from Maddox and why… She is a character that doesn’t just help of good will, she usually wants something in return, especially when it comes to Maddox. If she doesn’t get it, she will come back for it. It would be interesting to see more of her world, the Eastern/Central European intelligence, and more of its collision with the American world.

    5. Can you tell us anything about your role on Debris without revealing spoilers?

Irina is a strong, intelligent, calculated woman with purpose. She comes across cold, but she is vulnerable and she does have a soft spot for Maddox. She worries about him, but also about herself. Her survival instinct is very strong, and she always puts herself first. I think that’s all I can say at this time.

    6. How were you bitten by the acting bug?

It started off early, when I was a kid. The background of my family is artistic, and I was immersed in entertainment from a young age. I always wanted to be an actor and make my own movies.

    7. Back to Debris, what was it like on set – all serious, or were there fun times?

Of course we had fun, and moments of laughter and jokesJ but when the cameras were rolling, it was mostly serious. I should add that working during the pandemic changes the overall vibe a little. It’s different not to be able to see peoples’ faces, and having to maintain safe distance. Set is normally a very “together” place. But we did it, and we could do it again!

    8. What has been a memorable moment from Debris?

Everything! For me it’s meeting new people that is always so special. From directors, actors, to crew. Getting close to people like Norbert, and working with him on Joel Wyman’s show was a real treat that I am grateful for.

    9. Did you have to learn a specific skill (e.g. Russian accent) for the Irina role on Debris?

Yes, I did an accent for Irina. I chose a Russian accent that is not the stereotypical one that we hear all the time, the comedic over the top one, but more of an educated, global citizen Russian accent, that is more subtle, so we focus on what she says and not how she says it. Someone who works with international people and who is a secret agent would speak like this.

    10. How have your interactions with fans been regarding social media? Mostly good?

Yes! I am very grateful for all the fans. Always.

    11. What is something that your fans might be surprised to learn about you?

Other than what I mentioned in the phone interview, it could be that I am a Kundalini Yoga Teacher. I don’t teach, but I practice. I dance Argentine tango and have done acro yoga. I am an alto in a Gospel chorale. (not active this year) I lived in the Middle East for some time. People never expect it. Or that I visited Libya for instance. Oh, and I am afraid of heights!

    12. Is there an actor or actress that you would love to work with?

If there only was one haha. There are quite a few I would love to work with starting from my industry friends…

    13. What do you enjoy doing when you are not working as an actor?

I love spending time outdoors with my dog, reading, watching movies, exercising. When it comes to other work, I love producing and am quite busy with my projects in development. I have recently produced two music videos, and I also teach acting on and off, depending on my availability.

    14. Beyond Debris, do you have any other projects in the works that you can discuss?

Yes, I have a feature film to be released in the U.S. on June 15th called American Badger. Its companion film American Velvet will be released at the end of the year or spring 2022.

    15. What is next for you Andrea?

I don’t know yet. Many things cooking right now, so fingers crossed!

We are certain to learn more about Irina next week in “A Message From Ground Control” and in the season one final “Celestial Body” the following week! Make sure to watch Debris on NBC or you can watch the next day on Peacock TV to help Renew Debris. See you then!

    Hello fellow Debris fans.

Debris Poster - Click to visit Debris at NBC
Images and videos courtesy NBC Universal

This latest episode of Debris is a good one!

It is full of new mysteries and some ancient ones that have been speculated for centuries by human kind.

Eagle Eglisson is the director of this episode and he is no stranger to genres like this one.

Mr. Eglisson has directed some of my favorite shows, Fringe, Alcatraz, Once Upon A Time and TURN: Washington’s Spies (I highly recommend and is currently available on Netflix), just to name a few.

Eglisson does a good job at giving us a glimpse into the psyche of a soldier and what war does to people on both sides in an episode written by Ryan A. Wagner who has written two other episodes, “Do You Know Icarus” and “In Universe“. I am also looking forward to exploring more about this type of subject matter, hopefully in later episodes.

Asalah follows “I Am Icarus”, the second part of a superb two part episode that began with “Do You Know Icarus?”, where the fabric of the universe is unwinding or is inadvertently being ripped apart by a young man named Shelby (Keenan Tracey) and his sister Kathleen (Jessica McLeod).

Shelby and Kathleen witnessed an alien object land in the ocean near their home. Shelby and Kathleen then unwisely elected to investigate the Debris, setting in motion a series of unintended consequences with nearly devastating results to our reality!

The scene opens with a woman sitting in the middle of a forest with the Debris obviously not too far away from her. As the Orbital agent approaches, she says Bryan’s (Jonathan Tucker) name two times. Michael Wale is the director of photography for this episode he did such episodes as Fringe, Smallville and Almost Human so he is another one who is familiar with this genre. Also, it seems that J.H. Wyman likes working with the same people over and over again which is always a plus because they are familiar with his work and know how to capture it best.

We come to find out the woman’s name is Mariel Caldwell (Erin Karpluk) from Cedar Ville Maryland and the Debris followed her like a shimmer. She was a high school teacher with no other extraordinary background, just an ordinary person.

    https://www.nbc.com/debris
Erin Karpluck as Mariel Caldwell, Riann Steele as Finola Jones, Jonathan Tucker as Bryan Beneventi. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Once Mariel arrives at the facility and Bryan confronts her, she starts talking about Surobi, Afghanistan, a brown paper folder and dust everywhere. As the viewer we know and remember that Bryan Beneventi was a Marine Special Forces in Afghanistan. So of course, hearing all of this piques our interest knowing that there has always been something in Bryan’s past from that time in his life that we have always been curious about.

In an earlier episode there was a picture of a woman that Bryan has kept with him and prior to this episode we did not know who that woman was. Tonight, we do as the title of the episode suggests her name is Asalah (Zarina Sterling). It was great to finally get a reason for that picture and what the story behind it was.

Debris S1x11 Mariel Caldwell knows secrets of Bryan's past
Erin Karpluck as Mariel Caldwell, Jonathan Tucker as Bryan Beneventi, Riann Steele as Finola Jones. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

As the episode progresses Mariel is away from the alien object, her recollection of the situation and Afghanistan keeps coming and she keeps telling Bryan more and more, only things that are specific to him and his experience.

It is interesting to hear that story from that part of the world. Often times when we see or hear war stories, we forget there are two sides and experiences to it, the innocent civilians, and the soldiers. One of my favorite quotes is from the movie Platoon by Oliver Stone and that quote is “the first casualty of war is innocence.”

The lab determined that even away from the Debris Mariel still recites part of Bryan’s life back to him. So, the debris has somehow manifested in her consciousness or maybe merged somehow with Bryan’s and because she came in contact with the debris it implanted his memories into her, and she almost became a carbon copy mentally of his brain.

During the scene where Mariel recites once again parts of Bryan’s life back to him, she grabs him by the arm. With this interaction with Mariel, Bryan passes out almost as if her energy or the memories, his memories are transported back to him with such force that it knocks him unconscious.

Debris S1x11 Bryan with his team in Afghanistan
Debris S1x11 Bryan with his team in Afghanistan. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Next, we get to see Bryan interacting with his fellow soldiers as well as his commanding officer played by Josh Blacker. The Bryan that we see in Afghanistan is not anywhere close to the one that we see today as an Orbital agent.

Finola (Riann Steele) panics once Bryan passes out and he is immediately helped by the doctor on duty.

The doctor informs Finola that he is going through an idiopathic neurological event which I looked up. It is nerve damage that is also related to PTSD.

That makes perfect sense considering that Bryan’s experience in Afghanistan has directly contributed to that and the condition called TBI (traumatic brain injury) may occur under severe stress such as military combat.

Debris S1x11 Asalah portrayed by Zarina Sterling
Asalah portrayed by Zarina Sterling. Image courtesy NBC

We do get to see Asalah for the first time and see her interactions with Bryan, it is clear that from their first meeting that they had a connection.

Not only is Asalah a beautiful woman but someone who has hope and dreams and wants to leave Afghanistan to have a better life for herself. That appeals to Bryan, Asalah talks about music and wanting to be a pianist, “Music is food for the soul”. Bryan then tells her about Elton John and pulls out his headphones and gives them to her so she can listen to Bennie and The Jets.

The other person concerned about Bryan and his condition and what Mariel is talking about is Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz). Mariel keeps repeating events that happen in Afghanistan and one in particular comes up called Desert Falcon. Maddox knows what she is talking about it is definitely significant to him regarding something about the Taliban. Which is the whole point of why Bryan is there and what the mission that he is on.

There has always been something a little vague and shady about Maddox and his involvement in Orbital as well. I have often thought he has many secrets about Bryan and what happened in Afghanistan and can hold that against him. So, it is almost as if Bryan owes him a debt.

The one thing that stood out to me especially with this episode is about what happens in specific countries, for example Afghanistan, and during World War II, is how the innocents and art are are always affected by war. How during World War II the Nazis had taken possession of art in the countries that they were conquering. And basically, stole millions and millions of dollars of precious artworks, precious music even musicians from that period of time.

They did not want any kind of freedom of thought, did not want any kind of salvation or happiness to happen in those countries. I assume that the same happened in Afghanistan that being a musician or having any kind of artistic creativity or artistic inclination is a bad thing. The arts are so often underfunded around war torn countries that the sometimes the only solace you have is in the arts, is in dance or music or painting or acting whatever it maybe it is a salvation for a lot of people.

Debris S1x11 Bryan finds the camera with Taliban locations

“Sometimes good intentions go awry” that in this episode is absolutely for sure. “Peace is possible-always”, we will have to see if that ever happens. Asalah asks Bryan to keep her grandfather safe.

Bryan, being the upstanding soldier that he is and the compassionate person he is, promises her but asks her to please stay out of it. Although Asalah promises to stay out of the situation that does not happen.

We come to find out that she actually took pictures of the Taliban and specifically, the place to find them. She disguises it as she found Bryan’s camera lying in the street and came to return it to him.

Meanwhile Finola thinks that the debris had cloned Bryan in Pennsylvania and that is what is causing this neurological episode since the clone was the one that had the picture of Asalah in his pocket.

Debris S1x11 Finola believes the Debris can transfer and manipulate memories
Finola believes the Debris can transfer and manipulate memories. Image courtesy NBC

The pieces of Debris could be talking to each other, meaning that Bryan’s memory could have been uploaded or backed up supposedly to a network like an Internet cloud. Another theory is, it could also be a living thing an entity that our world and our technology has no power over or no way to control it. The alien objects appear to have capabilities to manipulate memories maybe even alter reality. If this particular piece of Debris gets into the wrong hands, it can be used as a psychological warfare weapon.

Finola suggests possibly rebooting the brain that might hopefully help disrupt the connection between the alien artifacts and Bryan. That suggestion is actually a particularly good idea considering that the body has its own electrical system. It has been shown that when the body experiences a large electrical charge (such as being struck by lightning or electrocuted) electrical charges altered states of mind, altered intelligence.

One of the other causes may be the injections that Bryan has been taking since returning back from Afghanistan and Maddox wants to up the dosage. My theory about that is if anything I think that these injections are doing more harm than good, I think almost it is like a tool to keep the soldiers subversive.

Debris S1x11 Bryan is transported back to the battlefield
Jonathan Tucker as Bryan Beneventi is transported back to the battlefield by the Debris. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

As the pinnacle of the episode unfolds, we find that Bryan tells Asalah to disappear, and he will find her later. Earlier in the conversation they were talking about hope and that she has hope and he needs to protect that. Asalah asks Bryan what the hope is he is holding onto and he does not answer which is very typical of his character.

Bryan is someone who keeps his feelings awfully close to the vest. He does not like to show emotion too much or to too many there are a select few who have been privy to that. But with his war experience you tend to not let that show as it is a sign of weakness in most cases.

Next, we see Bryan transported back to combat at a firefight that happens unfortunately Asalah turns out dead in the village. Bryan broke his promise to her and that guilt of her dying is carried with him.

Bryan was subjected to electro-shock therapy to break the tie to the alien object controlling him. We then find out that Mariel is dead as well almost as if she had manifested Asalah and what happened to her. Asalah was worried that Brian would think that she betrayed him she came back to the village to warn him about what was about to happen.

    Debris S1x11 Bryan get electro-shocked
Bryan electro-shocked. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Bryan took revenge for a Asalah’s death as he came upon a group of Taliban he found in a cave. Unfortunately, those were different insurgents, and they were not to be touched because of them being a CIA protected group for a CIA operation.

Bryan ended up going to prison because of it. Maddox got him out of prison and thus Bryan owes Maddox his life literally.

“I don’t carry this so that I can remember her, I carry it so that I don’t forget what it’s like to invest in something that I can lose” Bryan tells Finola about Asalah and his reasoning. He also mentions that all of the alien objects may be somehow connected. “The Debris is experiencing us the same way we are experiencing it.”

However, we still cannot figure out why Bryan is the only person the Debris deliberately sought out… yet!

Debris S1x11 Dahkeya Nakai portrayed by Julian Black Antelope in Sedona Arizona

The last few minutes of this episode are probably my favorite of the entire episode. Sedona, AZ a man, Dahkeya Nakai (Julian Black Antelope) is walking out in the desert. A voice over starts to tell us “It all began when Blackwater grandfather threw his energy to the four directions. To the East he laid black metal in the earth, the South blue metal, to the West yellow metal and to the North white metal. In the next phase Blackwater grandfather threw black wind towards the earth”.

First off, I am incredibly happy that they cast a First Nations actor to play the indigenous man. As a huge fan of the TV series Ancient Aliens there have been many episodes about this last part of the episode, my favorite part of the episode.

Many indigenous or First Nation tribes in Canada as well as the United States have believed for centuries in Star people or what we would call aliens. There have been many stories handed down generation to generation about those star people about the ways that they have taught indigenous and First Nation tribes. Their knowledge, their way of life, there have been many tribes that believe their origins started with the Star people.

Debris S1x11 Click to visit the First Nations Institute
Click to visit the First Nations Institute. Image courtesy First Nations Institute

I have always been fascinated with these folklore type of stories. The First Nations have knowledge, they have spirituality, they understand that part of human nature. As well as nature itself which they learned from star people.

Also, through indigenous populations scattered throughout Canada as well as North America we find that there are certain places in the country or the world that do have energy that is different than any other place. That could be spiritual energy, it could be electrical energy, electrical currents or it could be something we do not know.

One such place that I know of is Nazca, Peru, and the famous Nazca lines. The energy in that area of the world is definitely different than other parts and in Sedona, AZ that is the case as well. There has been much speculation about the spirituality of that place the energy physical and mental energy of that place. In Sedona there is a long history of strange events happening, so it is no surprise that this is where they ended the episode. I hope we can explore more about that subject.

Places like Sedona, Nazca, Egypt, and many parts of Central and South America as well as parts of the United States that have these electrical anomalies are the prominent in UFO sightings. Places around the world that have been associated with anomalies that have been always attributed with Aliens or unexplained mysteries. I have been and always will be fascinated by the ancient tales that the indigenous people of our country will tell. It is something fascinating and I have always had a great respect for.

I hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I did! It was great to finally get a little bit of answers to the question or mystery of Bryan Beneventi.

Debris creator J.H. (Joel) Wyman certainly deserves an A PLUS for this two part episode in specific, and the series in general, for producing an extremely high quality science fiction series being televised weekly on our screens in 2021.

Thank you Mr. Wyman and NBC Universe Entertainment Television for bringing Debris to science fiction admirers for our mutual viewing pleasure in the United States, and hopefully around the world in the very near future!

As such, it is the sincere hope of Team WHR, and in our opinion, millions of Debris admirers around the world, that NBC Universal Entertainment Television will Renew Debris for several more seasons.

“I Am Icarus” is the second part of a terrific two part episode that began with “Do You Know Icarus?”, where the fabric of the universe is unwinding or is inadvertently being ripped apart by a young man named Shelby (Keenan Tracey) and his sister Kathleen (Jessica McLeod) who witnessed the alien object land in the ocean near their home. Shelby and Kathleen unwisely elected to investigate the Debris, setting in motion a series of unintended consequences with potentially devastating results.

The damage is becoming manifest in “I Am Icarus” from a phenomena referred to in the episode as “Bilateral Deviation” that could cause fracturing to, or even the complete destruction of various realities residing within the Multi-Verse.

Regarding Multi-Verse theory, the term was coined in 1895 by the American philosopher and psychologist William James. Since that time there have been many scientists, famous authors, movies and television series have postulated what it is all about.

The question for science to discover and prove, is it real, what versions are there of it, and could the Multi-Verse be impacting all of us even is we are not aware of the causes and implications thereof?

Respected scientist and author Isaac Asimov wrote a best-selling science fiction book in 1955 called “The End of Eternity” which featured time travel to go back in history and make changes to obtain a future desired reality change ordained by the ruling class.

Before Debris, other great science fiction series, Fringe produced at Warner Brothers Television, created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and J.H. (Joel) Wyman who served as executive producer and writer, (and is the Debris creator as mentioned above), also dealt with alternate realities and the so-called desired outcomes sought by some of the nefarious “Observers” as they were known in the series.

During a successful five year run on FOX television in the United States, ”Fringe” trimmed all the branches that featured the evil “Observers” at the end, and each team member went on to live happy lives.

    Stargate Continuum poster
Stargate Continuum poster. Image courtesy MGM Studios

Prior to that, another beloved science fiction series, Stargate, specifically In the Stargate SG-1 series, produced by MGM Studios, featured episodes over a twelve year television run, that dealt with alternate realities using a “Quantum Mirror”, or even the Stargate itself.

In Stargate SG-1, the hero characters travel to, observe, and in some cases alter reality that caused people to be erased or changed as if they never existed in the eyes of the person(s) from the reality they originally came from.

The 2008 movie Stargate Continuum, in effect, the final episode of the series, featured an erasure of former Stargate Command events caused by a super villain name Ba’al (Cliff Simon) in his quest for dominance across all realities that utilized a Stargate.

However, using one aspect of the Multi-Verse theory, the original timeline would still exist, so that who and what the heroes fought was a villain in a separate reality within a different Multi-Verse timeline.

    Avengers Endgame poster
Avengers Endgame poster image courtesy Marvel Studios

A more contemporary example is The Avengers movies infinity War and the sequel Avengers Endgame, where the villain Thanos, used the “Infinity Stones” to change reality by erasing fifty percent of all living beings with devastating consequences for those who were erased.

Thanos, thinking it was the best thing for everybody, did so in order that the remaining living beings would be grateful and happy to live in a universe that was not as crowded before he wiped out half of everybody in existence. Thanks Thanos! NOT!

Image courtesy J.H. (Joel) Wyman on Twitter

In this iteration of a different Multi-Verse theory, somewhat similar to “I Am Icarus”, Captain America trimmed all the alternate reality branches save one; he stayed in the past and lived a happy life marrying his fiancé at the time, Peggy Carter and all was still well in the present reality with the deafeat of Thanos.

In this outstanding two part episode conclusion, written by Kyle Lierman and directed by Padraic McKinley, the Multi-Verse story arc follows the branch trimming theory to restore reality to what it was before Shelby and Kathleen triggered the reality changes.

Things really get dicey in “I Am Icarus”, but end up successful, avoiding permanent damage to the space time continuum.

Subsequent to reaching a crisis point of no return, reality appears to have been restored by our heroes before it could destroy everything in all adjacent realities! To reiterate, Team WHR is hoping that NBC will renew this superb science fiction series by J.H. (Joel) Wyman for several more seasons!

    I Am Icarus:

Debris S1x10 Shelby and Bryan are desperarte to fix reality
Keenan Tracey as Shelby, Jonathan Tucker as Bryan Beneventi/ Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

The episode begins with Bryan (Jonathan Tucker) and Shelby having just been reality shifted again when Bryan jumped in the ocean to try and stop Shelby during his own quest to be rejoined with his partner Finola Jones (Riann Steele) who was no longer in their reality.

As the story arc unfolds, it becomes obvious that Shelby and Kathleen found, and together subsequently used, a large hollow circular piece of alien Debris in the ocean near their home just off the coast of a city called Oceanside, located in Washington State. After their first use of this very large piece of Debris, Shelby’s and Kathleen became separated from each other’s alternate realities!

This particular piece of Debris is the perhaps the most insidious and dangerous of all that we have witnessed to date. The alien object, having the capability to shift people across realities, to nearby parallel universes, or other realities in the Multi-Verses, can send them back in time to a starting point where many things may be, or are the same, but many things may be, or are different.

Debris S1x10 Bryan is trapped in an alternate reality and Grace becomes Finola's partner

Bryan, in various realities is sometimes with a partner named Grace (Aliyah O’Brien) who has been with Bryan for five years in this reality. Grace plays it by the book, trusts her partner Bryan, but is loyal to Craig Maddox, who ordered her to stop Bryan at all costs, shooting and injuring him just before the last reality jump took place..

The Team WHR theory is that the Aliens may have used the “Multi-Verse Pod” to go back and correct their mistakes made during their travels to Earth in the past. We assume that the aliens had been properly trained to avoid the situation that became manifest in the exciting two part episode with Shelby and Kathleen.

Just as people on Earth make decisions in their lives that affect their future, now Shelby and Kathleen, but without the proper alien Debris training, are making decisions that have disastrous consequences for not only their reality, but potentially for all the adjacent realities!

Debris S1x10 Kathleen appears in a alternate reality
Kathleen appears in an alternate reality. Image courtesy NBC

In this case, Shelby’s sister Kathleen was not really erased. More accurately, she was trapped in another parallel or alternate reality when Shelby was thinking about how his life would have been had Kathleen not been born when he was inside the Debris under ocean near his home.

POOF! No more Kathleen in Shelby’s reality and visa versa!

Enter Finola Jones of MI6 and Bryan Beneventi of the CIA who now work together as a close knit team in an organization named Orbital. Orbital is tasked with finding and neutralizing Debris from the crashed alien spacecraft which broke up in orbit sending alien objects all over the United States and perhaps elsewhere on the planet too.

After a rocky start due to their superiors Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) and Priya Ferris (Anjali Jay) who were keeping secrets from each other while each working their own agendas, Finola and Bryan developed a professional trust. Things seemed to be wonderful…

Until Shelby tries multiple times to correct his mistake. He visits the Debris again and again to return to the reality where his sister is. Panicked that he never had a sister in each new reality he ended up in, he keeps trying, but things get worse with each attempt, including changing realities, never finding Kathleen, and a dozen new partners for Bryan who keep showing up at his house!

Debris S1x10 In an alternate reality, George Jones is working at Orbital
In an alternate reality, George Jones is working at Orbital. Image courtesy NBC

Shelby, who recognizes Bryan in each new reality seen so far, failed each time because he withheld information from Finola, Bryan and Finola’s Orbital founder and scientist father George Jones (Tyrone Benskin), about exactly what transpired the first instance, that both he and his sister had been messing with the Debris that caused what George referred to as Bilateral Deviation.

Depending on the realities visited during the two part episodes, George is either dead, having been killed by Bryan in the “Influx” raid, or is alive and is working at Orbital. The “George factor” may have an influence on future events in episodes leading up to the season one finale.

Use of the Debris causes the participants to move back in time and relive portions of their lives that may not be the same reality they were in depending on what they were thinking and feeling when the Debris activated in each instance of shifting realities, thereby changes the reality for the person(s) who activated it.

Debris S1x10 Byran tries to return to his reality
Jonathan Tucker as Bryan Beneventi. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

As a result of not telling the truth out of a fear that Orbital will confiscate the alien artifact, Shelby actions may result in him never being able to rejoin his sister Kathleen again because they are now in separate realities.

Each instance of using the Debris, without knowing exactly how to operate it, is causing the fabric of the space time continuum to rip apart. The situation becomes desperate when people in the nearby realities are actually able to see the others within the parallel universe realities.

Bryan, fully aware of what is happening since he was with Shelby during the last reality jump, returns with Grace to Shelby’s home. While Grace works on setting up measurements of the Debris near their SUV, when the door opens, no Shelby!

In this reality, Kathleen has appeared at the front door in near tears. When Bryan asks for Shelby who is no longer in Bryan’s reality, Kathleen breaks down and tells Bryan the truth!

Kathleen takes Bryan to the front room where the fabric between the realities is nearly nonexistent. Exterior views of the house depict a glowing reflection from the various realities materializing. Grace, his new partner comes into the house and sees the disaster unfolding and wants immediate extraction of the Debris.

Debris S1x10 In an alternate reality Finola has a new partner named Gibson
Garfield Wilson as Gibson, Riann Steele as Finaola Jones. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Bryan and Kathleen cannot allow this to happen. They need more time to figure out what is going on, so they jump almost together into the alien artifact, resetting the timeline again. This time around, Finola returns with a new partner named Wilson (Garfield Wilson) and Bryan becomes trapped with Shelby in the same alternate reality.

In the meantime, Kathleen convinces Finola to listen because she knows Finola’s fathers name whom she contacts for guidance since he is the head of Orbital in this reality. This time around, the windows between the realities are so transparent that the four can write notes to each other while George figures out, and tells Finola about Bilateral Deviation. George explains that the problem was caused by Shelby and Kathleen jumping individually and that all four of them must reality jump at the same exact time to return things to normal to cancel out the Bilateral Deviation.

The four do so with Shelby and Kathleen able to get back together in the original reality. It seems that Bryan and Finola have returned back to working together in a reality that appears to be the same before the first time they went to the house. When Finola and Bryan come to the house, they do not remember anything that has happened.

Debris S1x10 With reality fixed Shelby and Kathleen are back together
With reality fixed Shelby and Kathleen are back together. Image courtesy NBC

Why? Because it never happened! Got that? This is because Shelby and Kathleen, who remember everything, are back together BEFORE they ever visited the alien reality time changing artifact. Shelby and Kathleen invite them in the house to tell them what has been happening with the Debris.

As the outstanding two part episode concludes, interesting things happen that setup the next three episodes leading to a season one finale.

First, we are with Craig Maddox who answers the phone in his office. Unlike the previous episode where Craig went to see his wife Julia (Jennifer Copping) after receiving the same phone call to try and save their marriage subsequent to the devastating accident Jullia had that crippled their son Dario (Christian Rose), Craig does not do so this time around.

Only a subtle reality change, but a change nonetheless. Craig arrives home and he finds their divorce papers on the kitchen table. Jennifer Copping is set to reprise her role in the season one final, so we will have to wait and see if our theory about any impact from the subtle changes to the reality we witnessed become relevant or not?

Debris S1x10 Anson Ash is planning his escape
Anson Ash is planning his escape. Image courtesy NBC

Second, danged Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip), the captured “Influx” operative is observed in his cell in a dungeon of some sort at Orbital when the guard comes to collect his food tray. Anson makes a fuss and deliberately grabs the arm of the guard on purpose for an extended period of time as he did with Finola is an earlier episode to establish a mental link or bond.

When the guard goes to activate the combination lock on the area where Anson is imprisoned, Anson is somehow able to either read the guards mind or can see through his eyes as he keys in the code for the combination lock. No doubt this factor will be used by Anson to escape and return to his “Influx” organization members.

All of this will certainly play a part in the season one finale with Anson back on the loose, and subtle reality changes in the timeline which this reviewer has a theory about; that George Jones never died in the subtly changed reality, is still the head of Orbital, and Craig Maddox works for him!

Debris Review – Do You Know Icarus? Timeline versus Timeline!

    Hello, my fellow Debris fans.

Images and videos courtesy NBC Universal

This latest episode was a great one. Had many different philosophical themes written in it. The name of the episode is “Do You Know Icarus?” and my answer would be yes, we do.

We all have had a bit of Icarus in us at different points in our lives, we would be remiss to say that we have not. We have all been complacent and countless times in our lives showed our great hubris.

I really enjoyed this episode as it explores desires and wants and wishes. The cliché of “be careful what you wish for” is underlined in this episode. Our wants and needs are questioned to the maximum degree in this episode as well.

What do we truly need and what do we think we need? It is also nice to see that George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) plays a prominent role in this episode. I am happy to see him finally getting to be a part of the team.

The Debris in this episode has a function of being able to alter realities or desires. In a way this episode reminded me of the movie Groundhog Day but on a more serious note.

The Debris is altering the reality of Shelby (Keenan Tracey) and erasing his sister Kathleen. Instead, Shelby comes back and finds that he has a brother and not a sister.

Desperate to find her, he keeps trying to alter the timelines over and over to obtain the result he wants with disastrous results for our heroes in specific, and the universe in general!

    Do You Know Icarus:

Finola (Riann Steele), Bryan (Jonathan Tucker) and George drive out to see a former Orbital scientist named Gary Garcia (Zak Santiago) who obviously has some devastating effects of being in close proximity to the Debris. Garcia has the necessary equipment to help George build the machine he was forced to build when he was captured by “Influx”.

Aside from having no irises in his eyes, Gary has multiple scars on his face, no doubt from exposure to the Debris. He also asks Bryan if he is still taking the injections that we have seen Bryan taking in previous episodes we have reviewed? I assume the medication(s) keep the side effects of the Debris at bay? I am curious if we will ever see the effects of the Debris at their fullest and learn exactly what happened to Bryan to require them?

Debris S1x09 Finola and Bryan meet Shelby's new brother named Mac
Azriel Dalman as Mac, Jonathan Tucker as Bryan, Riann Steele as Finola. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

After dropping George with Gary to work on the machine device, Bryan and Finola go to visit a young man near the latest report of Debris in Oceanside, Washington. The young man is named Shelby who has just learned that he now has a new little brother named Mac (Azriel Dalman).

Before Finola and Bryan arrive, Shelby is seen arguing with Mac that he wants to know where his sister Kathleen (Jessica McLeod) is?

Mac tells Shelby it’s not funny anymore and that he doesn’t have a sister.

Later we learn that Shelby’s little brother’s are changing too!

Debris S1x09 Bryan and Finola meet Shelby
Jonathan Tucker as Bryan, Keenan Tracey as Shelby, Riann Steele as Finola. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Shelby is pretty straight forward with them, he somehow knows it is a crashed alien spaceship. He knows because he found it two days earlier, but the debris keeps transporting him forward, without his sister Kathleen who has seemingly been erased from his life and from the current timeline.

Shelby keeps trying and trying to alter the timeline, but every time he does things end up different again. Shelby reveals that he has been talking to George and that George has been helping him try and get back to the original timeline. Shelby must get back to the original timeline or reality.

Finola and Bryan are shocked when Shelby has been told George that If not, the fabric of the realities and universe will degrade at an increasing rate!

Debris S1x09 Shelby tells Bryan and Finola and the things he has done to try and get his sister back
Riann Steele as Finola, Jonathan Tucker as Bryan, Keenan Tracey as Shelby. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

The different timelines or time jumps that Shelby takes every time, will no doubt yield different results. Story lines like that make me think of the decisions we make as humans, the what if’s? What if I just slightly change something, how does it effect my life and those around me or does it at all?

“Do You Know Icarus” also reminds me of another show that was a favorite of mine called Seven Days. It was about a Chrononaut Frank Parker (Jonathan LaPaglia) who, through alien technology, is able to go back in time seven days to right a wrong or prevent a catastrophic disaster. Only with Frank, he remembers what happens, but those he works with do not. Every time he goes back in time, his body gets ravaged. Frank will know what happens and will prevent it from happening thus altering the timeline.

Shelby is frustrated because each time he tries to get his sister back by returning at the exact time, he fails. George however informs him that he may not be doing it at the exact precise time (4:03:22:98:3). If he does, then he may have better results.

Debris S1x09 George works with Gary Garcia as they set off to recreate the machine George built for Influx
George works with Gary Garcia as they set off to recreate the machine George built for Influx. Image courtesy NBC

George however makes sure that Finola knows that the more Shelby jumps, the more the space time continuum becomes frayed. The damage to the current timeline would ultimately be irreversible. Things change, time changes, and events change that is inevitable and potentially catastrophic for everyone involved.

“There are no rewards without some element of risk” George says to Garcia as they are using the equipment Garcia has. How true that statement is in our lives? How many times have we taken chances on something that we were not certain of the outcome?

Risk is a part of life, it is what we gamble with every single day, the choices we make will change us and those around us. Again, like Groundhog Day, what you decide to do, where to go, who to talk to will change and subsequently so will your life.

Debris S1x09 Shelby jumps to the Debris over and over without success
Keenan Tracey as Shelby. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

As Shelby tries and tries again to get back to the reality with is sister by jumping off a nearby cliff, he does so but ends up seeing different color patterns every time he goes into the the large alien Debris object.

George asks him which colors in particular does he see, and Shelby tells him white. yellow and red which are the colors of the sun and which Icarus had gotten too close to.

Also, certain colors give off a certain frequency light frequency wave that I am sure has a lot to do with the timelines and the energy that is given off. Shelby ultimately does see his sister a glimpse of her rather in a mirror that is in the living room.

As he desperately wants to get her back, he jumps yet again into the water to get her back, and subsequently Bryan ends up jumping in with him to stop Shelby from causing further damage to the fabric of the realities.

Rewind the timeline again, however this time it is Bryan’s timeline and his reality that has been altered, because he entered the Debris at the same time as Shelby.

We do not see him with Finola anymore we see him with a new partner named Niels (Byron Noble) and in that new reality George Jones is dead. The only consistent thing in that timeline is Shelby and Bryan’s reality keeps changing every time Shelby jumps.

I love the fact that during these sequences, the producers used one of my favorite Rolling Stones songs “Gimme Shelter” which is such a powerful song. In an NPR interview in 2012 Mick Jagger had said that the song “it’s a very moody piece about the world closing in on you a bit” we can all relate to that there have been times in our lives where we do feel the walls closing in. And that is how Shelby felt and feels without his sister, sad and seeking shelter for what he has done.

Rewind reality once again after Bryan jumps in to the ocean to and we see Brian with yet another partner named Raheem (Kunal Jaggi).

Bryan goes through a number of other partners in the same scenarios, only slightly different as he repeats the time loop jumping off the cliff to try and stop Shelby without success.

In total Bryan goes through seven more different partners, in addition to Niels and Raheem.

We see Bryan with partners named Roberta (Melita Sekgwa), Jafar (Navid Charkhi), Claire (Anna Baker), Maria (Natasha Prasad), and Alvin (Carlo Yu).

Debris S1x09 The mirrors show different reality reflections

With the last timeline we finally go back to Finola as his partner with great relief. It was actually quite a wonderful set of scenes to see him with different partners and how he interacted with them even though it was a very minute scene or minute interaction with each different partner.

This last time is when we see that Shelby has filled the living room full of mirrors because he knows that he saw his sister once in the reflection. Shelby confesses to Finola and Bryan that it is his fault that his sister was erased from his reality because he was envious of her and had wished that she has never been born!

Shelby is hoping to see her again to try to draw her out so to speak, into his reality that he is in currently. Finola also sese Shelby’s sister Kathleen increasing his belief that if he keeps trying, Kathleen will eventually return to “his” reality.

Debris S1x09 We learn that Julia Maddox feels guilt for an automobile accident that crippled their son
We learn that Julia Maddox feels guilt for an automobile accident that crippled their son. Image courtesy NBC

One of the great scenes in this episode is between Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) and his wife Julia (Jennifer Copping). It is such a heartbreaking scene because Julia Maddox talks about the tragedy of the automobile accident that crippled their son, and what people can survive, what strong families can survive.

It is a really powerful scene, and it goes back to what is happening currently with Shelby and his life and his reality and his own tragedy.

As Shelby is talking to George Jones once again the questions of colors come up this time the colors are white, orange, yellow and back to orange. And each of those colors represents a desire a feeling and emotion he is shifting the reality that fits the colors or vice versa. “Desire is a funny thing sometimes what we think we want and what we actually want could be two different things”.

Debris S1x09 George tries to help Shelby
George tries to help Shelby. Image courtesy NBC

George tells Shelby a lesson on life, he also tells Finola it is like the story of the Penguin and the Soldier.  Is that not the truth? We often think we need something or want something when in reality fate and the universe gives us exactly what we need. We then find out that Shelby’s sister is his twin, that makes a bit more sense now that we know that. Shelby goes on to describe his sister, how she is smart and funny and pretty much a better person than he is. He even admitted that he wishes she were not born sometimes which it looks like the universe has granted him that wish. Again, careful what you wish for.

The mirrors are reflecting the different realities that have come forth through Shelby’s jumps. When Finola asks her father why is it that we can see the reflections coming through he tells her that the mirror is made out of glass, it has flaws, those imperfections of the molecular structure of the glass causes gaps in the flow of the light waves and that allows the gaps to project or glimpse the other realities, it is “A promise of what’s to come”?

Debris S1x09 Aliyah O'Brien as Grace

With the last and final jump, the universe is breaking down further and further. Bryan finds himself with his last partner, Grace (Aliyah O’Brien) who apparently has been his partner for five years. He asks about George Jones and Grace tells him that he was killed…last week.

Bryan is aware of this timeline and is desperate to get back to the real, true timeline. We abandon the Shelby storyline at this point as he has accepted that his reality now does not include his sister and that he must go on without her.

Bryan on the other hand is not taking too kindly to his new reality. In this reality Bryan calls MI-6 and talks to Finola, who does not know who he is, he starts out by saying how this may sound crazy but…proceeds to tell her what has been happening.

Debris S1x09 Finola at MI6 in an alternate timeline
Finola at MI6 in an alternate timeline. Image courtesy NBC

Bryan also mentions that her father (who I assume was dead in this timeline) told her about the Penguin and the Soldier. This gets Finola’s attention since it is a private memory. Bryan asks Finola what that story is about, she tells him.

“A soldier guides a penguin across the desert to the one he loves. Over the treacherous passage the penguin asks the soldier why he would risk his life guiding others to their hearts desire? He asks if he wishes that he had something to cross the desert for, but the soldier says no. Once they reach their destination the penguin shares an observation. He tells the soldier you fight so bravely because you have nothing, you want nothing, because you are afraid to have something to lose. Because if you did, your heart would no longer be steel”

As Finola is telling him the moral of the story, Bryan interjects and says, “You can spend a lifetime hiding from yourself what you truly want.”

Debris S1x09 In an alternate timeline Grace calls Maddox at Orbital
In an alternate timeline Grace calls Maddox at Orbital. Image courtesy NBC

Grace ends up calling Maddox and lets him know that Bryan maybe effected by the Debris. Maddox tells her that she needs to stop him “whatever the cost”. That is not good, those types of situations are never good.

The episode ends with Finola asking Bryan who the person is that he is trying to get back to and he answers her…” You”. It is no doubt a powerful episode, especially that particular last line and last part. We can spend a lifetime hiding from what we genuinely want because until we are desperate enough or truly enlightened do, we actually know.

It makes you think about your life and what your choices and the consequences of those choices. I have always admired Joel Wyman for posing those kinds of questions to the viewer. He has always been very profound with talking about spirituality talking about realities and choices and life and love and death and redemption.

It is what Fringe was about it and is what Debris is about. Finding those places in yourself that hold those desires, hold those needs and really trying to flesh out what it is you truly genuinely want.

The only, I guess if you want to call it entity, or the only force that absolutely knows with 100% certainty what it is that you need want and desire is the universe.

And that will be at one point in your life, whether it is now, whether it is next week or 25 years from now reveal exactly what it is that you need. Thank you so much for reading my hope that you enjoyed the episode.

The eighth absolutely outstanding and exciting episode of Debris, “Supernova”, was written by J.H. Wyman (Joel Wyman) and directed by Clare Kilner.

Science fictions admirers recall fondly that Ms. Kilner is a talented Director from her work on Snowpiercer, Krypton, and The Alienist as well as many other fine entertainment products. Under her direction, “Spaceman” takes the adventure of alien spacecraft crashing on Earth spreading objects with fantastic powers across the western hemisphere into a mind blowing game changing direction!

While previous episodes of Debris addressed many of the questions about the unearthly alien objects found to date by Orbital, “Influx”, Russian spies, as well as foreign governments.

The “Spaceman” story arc takes viewers to a new level of understanding of what to happened George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) who was thought to have been either cloned or reanimated subsequent to his death when his body was switched in a morgue in the United Kingdom by “Influx”.

The cloning hypothesis will be proven incorrect in “Spaceman” when George Jones himself  tells his daughter, Finola Jones (Riann Steele) and Bryan Beneventi (Jonathan Tucker) directly that he was reanimated by “Influx” subsequent to his death in their quest for overthrowing governments as we know them using the powerful alien object we have come to know as Debris.

In this episode we learn precisely why “Influx” has been holding George Jones hostage. Due to his extensive knowledge of extraterrestrial theories and knowledge, “Influx” has been extracting the information they require to harness the Debris for their own nefarious purposes!

Debris S1x08 Sebastian Roche as Brill

“Spaceman” will also reveal a bit more about another character we have seen before named Brill (Sebastian Roché).

The question is who is Brill and what is his real allegiance?

Has Brill taken charge of the “Influx” organization after Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip) was captured by Finola and Bryan, or is Brill an operative of MI6?

Or is Brill much like Craig Maddox who appears to have dual loyalties with connections to Russian operatives?

Subsequently, Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) had Anson’s memory searched, ultimately providing Bryan and Finola with the location of George Jones. Later in the great episode we will learn George has knowledge well beyond “tin foil hat” theories when he (George) literally uses aluminum foil in “Spaceman”, a whole danged bunch of it!

Debris S1x08 The young woman transports right through the guard
The young woman transports right through the guard. Image courtesy NBC

This episode begins with a very frightened young woman (Leigh Danso as Megan Danso) running through a field in what appears to be a surgical gown into an industrial research building of some sort. At first we think it might be Dee Jones (Gabrielle Ryan) since we know that she was being used by Priya Ferris (Anjali Jay) to lure Finola back to England. A closer look reveals that the young woman is not Dee Jones, but is another victim of “Influx” experimentation suffering from exposure to another strange alien artifact.

The young woman is being chased by a worker or security guard (Nevin Burkholder) and another man. The floor of the facility is covered in what are body bags, an obvious indication that whatever is going on in this “Influx” building is not going well for all it’s “subjects”. Seemingly trapped by the two men, the woman struggle with one of them and then de-materializes and runs very quickly right through the second worker. The woman has super powers that is something like the Quicksilver character from The Avengers and X-Men comic book series and movies.

Debris S1x08 Craig Maddox briefs the Orbital team

The worker who the woman went through suffers a horrible death from exposure to the the Debris that has no apparent affect on the young woman, obviously the only successful experimental test subject. The security guard is so stunned, in fact frightened by this development, that he is frozen in place as the young woman escapes the facility.

We segue to the briefing room at Orbital. Craig Maddox finally admits to everyone that George Jones is alive and has been confirmed to be at an ‘Influx” research facility in an area of Washington State known as the “Scablands” close to a place called Twin Lakes, Washington. The intel was derived using memory traces from Anson Ash’s interrogation.

In briefing Maddox tells the Orbital agents that the mission is to extract George Jones. However, Maddox takes Bryan into his office telling him that Bryan is not to use Finola tactically on the mission then goes on to say that George will be killed by incidental gun fires. When Bryan asks if the whole team knows, he is told no, only one other Orbital agent has been approved to know that George is to be killed.

Debris S1x08 Priya tells Finola what the plan is
Priya tells Finola what the plan is. Image courtesy NBC

Finola, talking with Ferris, says that something must be done. Ferris advises Finola that she has arraigned a special MI6 extraction so that George Jones will be taken back to London alive. Bryan confides to Finola that Maddox has ordered that George is not to survive the extraction.

At this point in the story arc it is nice to know that our heroes, Finola and Bryan have completely placed their trust in each other and not in their manipulative bosses!

Bryan and Finola proceed to the research facility to extract George alive. On the way they find the young woman when Bryan throws dirt at her. The woman who is scared to death, reveals that she was experimented  by “Influx” on as evidenced by a scar on her neck that indicates she has been implanted with Debris. The woman is taken into custody by the Orbital team.

As Bryan and Finola proceed inside the research facility, they find the body bags of the “Influx” victims. What is exasperating is that “Influx”, who claims to be working to share the alien technology with all the people of Earth, apparently have no qualms about killing people and using them as human guinea pigs for their nefarious purposes!

Finola finds a chalkboard with equations on it. She recognizes the writing as her fathers. As they proceed deeper into the facility, they find another laboratory where victims are being experimented on and a power source, a glowing ball of light that has been commented on in the series.

Then a series of fire fights ensue with “Influx” agents  until they find George Jones. Once George is located, Bryan intervenes and does not allow the execution of George Jones.

Debris S1x08 George, Finola and Bryan escape
Tyrone Benskin as George Jones, Riann Steele as Finola Jones, Jonathan Tucker as Bryan Beneventi. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

The running fire fights continue as Bryan, Finola and George escape the research facility. Finola reports to Bryan that Orbital agent Bowen (Daniel Romolliwa), who was the only other agent aware of the plan that George Jones was to be killed by incidental fire died in the gun fights. Bryan goes back inside the facility and destroys any evidence that George was there and then calls Maddox, lying to him, that their intelligence was incorrect and that George Jones was never at the facility. It becomes clear that Finola and Bryan plan to disobey Orbital orders and protect George from them.

On the way away from the “Influx” research facility George explains that he did not know about such alien artifact object capabilities as what they were doing to experiment on human beings. George also related  how “Influx” reanimated him by going through his right eye cranial cavity and operating on his brain! This leads this reviewer to a logical conclusion, does George have Debris implanted inside his skull?

    Debris S1x08 Finola in action
Riann Steele as Finola Jones. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Finola receives a call from her sister Dee, but not from Dee’s cell phone. Dee shares, as we suspected, that Priya Ferris was manipulating Dee in order to capture Finola.

This final piece of information confirms beyond doubt that both the Craig Maddox at the CIA and Priya Ferris of MI6 have not been telling the truth, solidifying the decision that Bryan and Finola have made to no longer follow orders from Orbital headquarters when Finola states “He (George) is not going anywhere!”.

However, what can Bryan and Finola do to elude the combined power of the governments of the United Kingdom and the United States? To further complicate things, we find out that Brill is indeed linked to Priya Ferris when he makes a cell phone call and Priya’s phone rings!?

Debris S1x08 George makes an aluminum foil blanket“Spaceman” winds down when George, Finola and Bryan arrive a hotel to spend the night. Bryan and Finola learn that George’s hippocampus has been damaged as a result of the reanimation process causing problems with short term to long term memory storage in the brain. George states he can remember what’s important, but also reveals the reason why Craig Maddox wanted George dead. George was the original leader of Orbital and Craig stole the organization from him clearly indicating that George, although free for the time being, is afraid of being captured!

The episode ends on a bizarre note with George going to the hotel office to obtain a roll of aluminum foil. George covers his bed with an aluminum foil blanket!

A few questions to ponder before next weeks ninth episode “Do You Know Icarus?”:

What’s up with the aluminum foil George made a blanket of?

Does George still have Debris implanted in his body that “Influx” or Orbital can use locate him with?

Where does Julia Maddox (Jennifer Copping) fit in? Copping is scheduled to appear in the season one finale and in next week in 9th episode “Do You Know Icarus?”. Is Julia working with Brill and “Influx”?

    Hello, my fellow Debris fans,

Debris Poster - Click to visit Debris at NBC
Images and videos courtesy NBC Universal

I hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I did!

Directed by Tim Southam, written by Samantha Corbin-Miller, Tracy Bellomo, and Davia Carter, the Debris “You Can Call Me Caroline” episode is an outstanding work of television entertainment by series creator J.H. Wyman, Legendary Studios, Frequency Films presented in the United States by NBC Entertainment!

For those of you that are Fringe fans, this Debris episode was by far the most inspired by Fringe that I have seen so far. Fringe,  produced by Warner Brothers Television from 2008 to 2013 is a series we have long admired here at Team WHR.

We are very pleased to see that many of the creators involved then, are bringing us quality science fiction entertainment entertainment each week!

No secret that J.H. Wyman sprinkles a little bit of that beloved show in everything he does. I was incredibly happy to see the parallels in this particular episode of Debris.

The name of this episode is “You Can Call Her Caroline” starring Caroline Packard (Evelyn Burke) is a little blonde girl who bears a striking resemblance to another little girl from the Fringe universe named “Olive” (Ada Breker) (or Olivia Dunham of the FBI Fringe Division as she was later known in that series).

We meet Caroline Packard later in this weeks episode “You Can Call Me Caroline”. Again the similarities to “Olive” in Fringe will be clear to admirers of both series.

    You Can Call Her Caroline:

Debris S1x07 Liam Packard waiting in Bar Harbor Maine

The episode opens with several people waiting for a ferry to arrive in Bar Harbor, Maine. One man, Liam Packard (Kynan Foster) nervously waits along with a couple apparently anxious about their in-laws arrival. A woman approaches Liam and asks for his duffle bag, which he refuses to hand over at first. Next thing we see is his body betray him and it is forced to give the woman the bag and in turn pull out a gun and kill himself.

This leads me to believe that Liam was in possession of some of the Debris and that it has mind control elements embedded within it.

I love that as the viewer with each episode we delve further and further into the debris and all the incredible things (good or bad) that it can do.

Debris S1x07 Craig Maddox fills Bryan in on the unusual encrypted cell calls from Maine

When Bryan Beneventi (Jonathan Tucker) goes back to the CIA to talk to Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) he is told about Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip) and “Influx”. Maddox informs Bryan that Influx is an anti-government ideological movement organized to dismantle all the governments control over the debris. Bryan asks about the money that is used to fund this organization and Maddox tells him that he does not know, he has no clue where it all started.

That scene reminded me that “Influx” is almost being like a James Bond villain, mysterious and extremely rich with resources beyond our wildest dreams. It will be interesting to finally (if ever) we find out who is behind it and why. Maddox says that to him it seems like Influx are these autonomous cells.

Debris S1x07 Encrypted cell calls from Maine to Anson Ash
Encrypted calls from Maine to Anson Ash. Image courtesy NBC

Maddox shows Bryan the phone he recovered from Anson and there is a weird encryption on it that keeps receiving calls from Bar Harbor, Maine. Maddox asks Bryan to investigate “quietly” and find out what is happening and what are they facing, he does not want to lose anymore lives. Bryan curiously asks Maddox if Anson has told him what Influx needs George Jones for?

Bryan then drops the nugget to Maddox that Finola Jones (Riann Steele) and MI-6 might know that George Jones is alive. Bryan mentions that since he has been spending a lot of time with her lately, he is noticed she has been different (which is a lie). My guess is he told Maddox to gauge his reaction to the news, and as suspected he was almost unfazed.

Debris S1x07 Finola Bryan and Agent Tom examine Liams body
Finola, Bryan and Agent Tom examine Liams body. Image courtesy NBC

When the body of Liam Packard is found, his debris levels are remarkably high. As Bryan examines his body with Agent Tom (Thomas Cadrot) and Finola, she mentions that Liam does not seem like he would be the kind of guy who would be involved with “Influx” or any kind of sleeper cells. Bryan mentions “clear skins” (or clean skins) which is “a person who does not have an existing criminal record or who has not attracted the attention of police or security forces.”

By definition that is exactly why he was chosen, inconspicuous, he would be able to blend in and not even be noticed. That is what those sleeper cells rely on the ability to be unassuming and not draw any attention to themselves.

Debris S1x07 Bryan and Finola find Liam's brother Luke

Finola and Bryan find Liam’s brother Luke (Benjamin Hollingsworth) at Liam’s house with Liam’s daughter Caroline. Luke tells the team that Liam found pieces of the debris in the marsh behind his house.

When Liam found it, he had started looking onto UFO websites and even contacted people on the dark web about selling them the alien tech. The debris also altered Liam’s behavior, it made him more intense, like he had “shell shock” something Luke experienced when he was back from Afghanistan.

Bryan had mentioned that he was in Afghanistan as well with the Marines the MARSOC division to which Luke says, “wow you guys are no joke”. I am glad we find out about this regarding Bryan and his military background, it gives us a bit more insight to who he is. Finola asks him about his time in Afghanistan and Bryan shrugs her question off. She is as curious about his time there as we are.

Debris S1x07 Finola notices Caroline is frightened
Riann Steele as Finola Jones, Evelyn Burke as frightened Caroline Packard. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

The Debris that Liam had found was the kind that controlled mind and body, that whoever possessed it could control or manipulate others to their will. Finola notices that Caroline seems frightened by something. That is a powerful weapon indeed and in the wrong hands could be deadly.

As I mentioned before about the James Bond villain, this is exactly why it is imperative that the Debris does not ever fall into the wrong hands, the fall out would be catastrophic.

Once Bryan and Finola head toward the marsh to find the debris, Finola hesitates as a feeling of dread washes over her. Bryan asks her if she is okay, and she responds “the debris does not want us here” that the debris “spoke to her” almost like a whisper.

Debris S1x07 Anson Ash is about to be interrogated
Anson Ash is about to be interrogated. Image courtesy NBC

Anson Ash is being held in a top-secret location and is currently strapped to a chair and it looks like he may be tortured to find out where George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) is being held. Maddox enters and starts talking to him about where Anson is from in England and his military past. As he is doing this, he injects Novocain into Anson’s head and then a team member makes an incision into what I assume is the memory part of the brain.

With Maddox still talking to Anson about a little church in his hometown of Lancashire and how Maddox wanted to paint it the next time he visited it. He is making sure to describe to Anson everything Maddox remembers, so that Anson can recall it himself and project a mental image of it. Anson resists as best as he can, but the shock treatment is too powerful.

This scene made me audibly gasp because Maddox brings out this device or rather a “window” that will help Anson’s image show up. That moment was a genuine Fringe moment for me, it reminded me of the “window” that was invented by Walter Bishop (John Noble) and William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) that could bend time in order to see the Alternative universe. Maddox talked about the different frequency that the bells of the church were on, the vibration was different, again the reference to Fringe and the different frequencies both universes and Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) were on.

Debris S1x07 Caroline is compelled to find more Debris for Luke
Caroline is compelled to find more Debris for Luke. Image courtesy NBC

The last number Liam had called was his ex-wife Gloria Hernandez (Kate Dion-Richard), when asked why she does not have her daughter her answer was “she belongs there”. The way she said it was eerie, like it was not her saying it was as if she was being forced or manipulated to say it.

The similarities to Fringe keep showing up as Caroline enters the marsh and sits down in the water. Again, this reminds me of whenever Olivia (Anna Torv) would enter the “tank” and activate the Cortexiphan in order to travel to the Alt universe. Caroline is connected to the debris and is able to summon it from the depths of the marsh. Water has always been a conductor of energy, so it is no surprise that when Caroline sits in the marsh, she is connected to it. She is the only one that can “communicate” with it.

Debris S1x07 Caroline tried to warn Finola and Bryan
Caroline tried to warn Finola and Bryan. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

Caroline warns Finola to stay away from the barn where the Debris is being held. Caroline tells Finola that it was because of the debris that her uncle Luke is acting the way he has and that it was Luke that controlled Liam to kill himself. She has been hiding pieces in order for Luke not to get a large amount, his plans for it are not good. “Mission must be executed” Luke told the team, he wants revenge on the military for what they did to him, Bryan can relate to it but knows better than to do what Luke is planning. Bryan tells Luke that he can help him or at least get him the help he needs for his PTSD.

Next thing we see is Finola and Bryan back at base, no way they just left without the debris or anything from the house. When asked they say nothing was found and that Caroline “she belongs there” was repeated by Bryan. Finola asks how they got back since she did not remember leaving and driving back. Luke had followed them made his presence known by crashing a military plane with the debris mind control. Luke comes towards Finola carrying the bag of debris, she pulls her gun as well as the MP’s that help her and Luke immediately makes one of the MP’s shoot his partner and then turns the gun on Finola.

Debris S1x07 Luke forces Bryan to point the gun at himself
Luke forces Bryan to point the gun at himself. Image by James Dittiger, courtesy NBC

As Bryan shot the other MP who was ready to shoot Finola, Luke asks Bryan if he is “he’s with them now” and forces Bryan’s hand to point the gun to his own head. Finola fights against the control telling Bryan to fight it as Luke is telling him to pull the trigger. Luke empties the debris on top of a car and just as he is starting to interact with it, we see him fall over and collapse, a sharp piece of debris stuck in his head. Caroline to the rescue, she appears and saves the day. She can communicate with it after all.

Caroline is reunited again with her mother and all is restored at least for now. When Gloria asks Finola what Liam found, she tells Gloria that they are still trying to figure it out. Finola tells Caroline that she was the strongest out of all of them, again just like Olivia who was the strongest and the (if memory serves, it has been a long time since I have seen Fringe) the only one left of the Cortexiphan kids.

The theme of family, connection, love was present and part if the common theme that runs through all of the episodes so far. As the episode draws to a close Finola receives a call from her sister Dee (Gabrielle Ryan). Dee mentions a place “Michelle’s country house” that she wants Finola to visit with her again when Finola comes back to England. Once Finola hangs up, she knows there something not right with her sister, Michelle’s country house was code for when their parents were around and did not want them to hear what the sisters were talking about.

Her suspicions were correct as we see Dee hand the phone to Priya Ferry (Anjali Jay) once the call ends. Maddox also calls Bryan and lets him know that they found out where George Jones is and in turn Bryan tells Finola. Good stuff!

I am hoping that once George Jones is found we may get a few more answers about the Debris, “Influx”, Orbital and all the shady dealings. Well Debris fans, I hope you enjoyed this Fringe heavy episode as much as I have.

The sixth superb fantastic episode of Debris, “Supernova”, directed by Steven A. Adelson, written by Jeff Vlaming and Davia Carter addressed many of the outstanding questions about the series that all viewers in general, and we here at Team WHR in specific, had all wondered about since seeing the exciting Pilot episode of Debris.

Of course the writers and creators of the “Supernova” episode added several new intriguing aspects that will undoubtedly shape our knowledge, and overall enjoyment of the aliens technology in upcoming future episodes of season one!

As you may recall in the the second episode, “You Are Not Alone“, it was documented that the aliens have ability of the extraterrestrial technology to clone people.

As we found out, in the third episode “Solar Winds“,  George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) may have been cloned subsequent to his death when his body was switched in a morgue in the United Kingdom without the knowledge of his daughter, Finola Jones (Riann Steele).

In the fourth episode, “In Universe” what blew our minds is what was revealed; that the nefarious “Influx” organization is actually holding what appears to be Finola’s father captive.

Is he the real George Jones or a clone?

And why precisely is “Influx” holding George Jones or his clone hostage?!

Finally in the fifth episode, “Earthshine” we discovered that Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip), the apparent leader or top field operative of “Influx”, had been captured. This was subsequent to successfully testing their ability to use Debris to transport very large objects the size of a New York City bus across vast distances before Orbital stopped their next experiment.

Before he was captured by the Orbital team, Anson bragged to Finola that the alien technology belongs to all humans, not just governments who would hoard the benefits for themselves.

In the “Supernova” a new element is added to the mysterious aliens technology, the ability to use Debris objects that become a literal fountain of youth, removing decades of age from the people expose to it’s unearthly power.

Debris S1x06 Finola and Bryan decide to confide in each other

This discovery makes sense because aliens traveling between galaxies that take thousands of years would require the ability to stay young so they would arrive alive at their destination, in this case our Earth, alive and vital to complete whatever their mission is!

The best news is that Bryan Beneventi (Jonathan Tucker) and Agent Finola Jones decide during the episode to disobey Priya Ferris (Anjali Jay) of MI6 and Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) of the CIA!

Both of our heroes decide to confide in each other since their boss’s have been withholding information about Finola’s father, George Jones, as well as specific details about the alien technology objects of Debris found all over the Earth.

Real questions we have yet to learn about is whether or not any of the aliens survived when pieces of the ship were observed crashing all over Earth? Are these aliens living amongst us, or did all of them perish from some interstellar travel catastrophe that we have yet to learn about? And finally what, if anything, does Julia Maddox (Jennifer Copping) have to do with a mysterious cell phone Craig has tracked to Maine in the United States?

    Supernova:

The episode opens shortly after Anson has been captured in a scene with a young man named Kurt (Dylan Colton) who has apparently found an unusual piece of Debris. Kurt is highly upset, no doubt due to the dead bodies close by that are emanating energy fragments associated with objects that have been exposed to the alien technology. Kurt leaves the rural house and enters a car where a woman named Clara (Paloma Kwiatkowski) is waiting.

Clara, also quite upset asks Kurt “What do we do now?”. Kurt answers as confidently a possible “We need more people”.

We then move to the Orbital aircraft, itself is an AWACS (Airborne Early Warning And Control System). This is a propeller drive miniature AWACS with a radar drome on top. We find Bryan and Finola preparing for their next mission. It is obvious that both are tense from being ordered not to reveal certain secrets by their nefarious boss’s Priya Ferris and Craig Maddox.

Naturally our human food vacuum cleaner Bryan is stuffing his face snacking while Finola makes a sarcastic, albeit awkward joke that some part of the microwave communication system was not designed by NASA to be Bryan’s personal toaster oven!

Bryan goes on to share with Finola that many such things like microwaves, Dust Busters and memory foam mattresses were all invented by NASA. Finola is not impressed as Bryan shoves what appears to be the rest of a a persoshiki sandwich down his gullet.

These fun humorous exchanges make the series enjoyable allowing our two heroes to take the harsh edge off the untenable situation that their superiors have placed them in.

Finola and Bryan arrive in Enville, Tennessee to investigate the dead people. Upon doing so they are joined by advance team member Agent Tom (Thomas Cadrot) who has already been contacted by the local police about four to five teenagers who had been seen near the old home. As we will learn, there are a number of missing persons in the area and that these are not teenagers who a local woman spotted, but the elderly people who have somehow been made young again.

Sadly, not all those exposed to the Debris survived in what seems to be an uncontrolled experiment to harvest the energy to keep them all young. The team enters the home to find an Orbital team member named Dr. Masakela (Daniel Bacon) examining the dead people he found in the residence. One body is witnessed with a cell phone suspended in mid air. The doctor says that enough alien electrostatic energy is coming from the body to full charge the cell phone!

The dead people do not have any signs of violence that would be associated with a robbery or home invasion by criminals which leaves the circumstances even more perplexing since the bodies are extremely old, appearing to have been dead for hundreds of years. However, Dr. Masakela says with conviction that the victims are died recently and only appeared ancient because the life had literally been sucked out of them.

As we will learn later, the victims in this “fountain of alien youth experiment” must stay in very close proximity to the alien object causing the effect. However, Kurt, who has escaped with Clara believe that with more people exposed, they can extend the range of the phenomena. This proves to be false as the dead bodies piled up attest to. Bryan and Finola find an ID card that matches the description of a reported missing person, several missing persons in fact will be tied to this particular Debris event.

Debris S1x06 Craig Maddox questions Anson Ash who is in custody at Orbital

We move to CIA Orbital HQ in Langley, Virginia where we find Anson Ash (Scroobius Pip) who is about to be interrogated by the Orbital Team Commander Craig Maddox.

Anson is creepy enough all by himself, but as Craig approaches him we witness that a cockroach crawling on Anson’s forearm near his wrist!

Anson appears to pet the little monster who has obviously no problem with an insect like Anson gently stroking him.

In fact the cockroach seems to enjoy it as much as Anson does!

Acting as if nothing has happened, Anson calls for “room service” ordering Moo Goo Gai Pan with some fortune cookies on the side from Craig as Anson continues to play with the cockroach! Did I mention this guy is really creepy yet? Well, there is more. Craig reads Anson his service record including the fact that he is an ex SAS (British Special Air Service) commando who abandoned his military duty some years back.

Craig wants answers about “Influx” but Anson, apparently part of a rogue nation of alien object hunters is flippant, telling Craig that neither he nor any geopolitical government will get to control all the Debris. Anson does share with Craig that the alien technology “will free the world” and “in the presence of a power so vast” that Craig type of people will never understand it.

Craig presses Anson, confronting him with the fact that he knows that “Influx” switched George Jones body at the morgue in England, going so far as to accuse “Influx” of re-animating the dead body and switching it with a similar dead corpse so they can torture the real George for the scientific secrets he holds that could help “Influx” decode the alien technology.

Anson falls silent while Craig tells him to get some rest because the next time they meet, he (Anson) will need all of his energy, alluding to the fact that torture will be used so that the CIA can get the information demanded. However, one has to ask why Anson is so confident and flippant? Could it be that there are sleeper agents inside the CIA that will help Anson escape?

Debris S1x06 Brian and Finola work with the Orbital Field Team to investigate the event

Team WHR story arc speculation? That if it is not “Influx”, then it could be that Priya Ferris of MI6, who we know has inside operatives at CIA may be involved!

Finola, Bryan and Agent Tom continue to track down the people involved with the “Fountain of Youth” Debris, They confirm that the missing persons are somehow associated with the events they are investigating. Meanwhile Kurt and Clara who have the alien object have linked up with other “young” people who are testing their theory that if they can only recruit a few more people they may be able to extend the range of the Debris that has made them young again. Later we will learn the motivation of Kurt and Clara, they are husband and wife seeking to use the alien object to continue to stay young.

Segue back to Craig, we find him meeting with the Russian agent Tarkolov (Dmitry Chepovetsky)… again! Craig wants to purchase another alien object from Tarkolov who states he will cooperate so long as the United States shares equally in the discovery of the alien technology.

The action takes us to McMinville, Tennessee, where Finola and Bryan have tracked down Kurt and Clara at the same time they confirm that more missing elderly person have been identified.

Agent Tom has found their car in a forest with more signs of energy from the alien technology that has been discovered in the vehicle. Finola and Bryan head to the scene to conduct a search for suspects later.

It is here that Bryan makes a decision to confide in Finola when he receives a call from an Orbital Agent. Bryan is shocked when Jose tells him that they are searching Finola’s apartment behind her back. Bryan is pissed off and tells Jose that he “you’re on your own!”. Meanwhile Kurt finds an old man near a lake named Subash telling him that he can help him.

Just before Bryan and Finola search the forested area that night, Bryan’s guilt reaches a peak when he gets another text from the Orbital Field Agent requesting if he knows Finola’s passwords while they discuss her father. When Finola inquires about why he is discussing her father, Bryan reveals that he has known for two weeks but was sworn to secrecy by Craig. Finola then confesses that she knew that he knew. It is a this point both our heroes make the decision to trust each other and keep secrets from Priya and Craig.

Byran and Finola run after a young man named Caspian Cole (Cardi Wong), one of the missing elderly people, now young, admits who he is and that he is working with Kurt and Clara while they perform a conversion to a youthful Subash which takes place nearby . Kurt and Clara successfully covert him to a young version of Subash (Siddhartha Minhas) further complicating the situation. Meanwhile another “young” person runs in the opposite direction and gets too far away from the “Fountain of Youth” object, dying right in front of Finola.

Clara and Kurt are running away when she tells him that they cannot be involved with people dying as a result of their having the Debris. Bryan, using a walkie-talkie calls Kurt and informs him that his search for the “math” of how many people needed to be converted to being young at long distance from the object is wrong and will not work.

Bryan tells Kurt that two more people have died and he must surrender. Dr. Masakela speaks with Bryan and informs him that he has developed a method to wean the people made younger from the harmful effects on humans, but that they will gradually return to their normal biological age. In this case Clara will become old and feeble again, something Kurt is not yet willing to accept.

While alone in the field hospital, Bryan receives a package from another Orbital Tech doctor. Bryan asks why it came so early? The doctor says he does not know, but that it may have something to do with his blood work. What blood work? This is the first we have heard about it! Bryan injects himself with whatever it is, but the viewers are left with another conundrum; what’s up with Bryan that he requires regular medical injections?

Debris S1x06 Bryan and Finola find out where Kurt and Clara went together

While Bryan, Finola and Agent Tom are observed hunting down Kurt and Clara while Bryan tries to explain what has happened.

In a heartbreaking sequence, Clara tells Kurt that they have to stop what they are doing before more people are hurt. Both are crying but realize they must surrender the Debris. Kurt and

Clara decide to leave the range of the object together in their final moments of life as a happy young couple before they they die. Subash, seen with Finola in the Orbital field hospital unit understands that he will grow old again, but is grateful for the short miracle he was given and will savor every moment of life that he has left.

The final sequences finds us first with Craig Maddox in a hotel room with a young  Russian woman named Irinia (Andrea Stefancikova) who is delivering a piece of Debris that allows eavesdropping on communication devices in trade for another unspecified object that Craig has brought to swap with her.

Irina says that she knows the CIA has other objects that are far more powerful for communications eavesdropping and wants to know why Craig wants this weaker device. Craig  replies simply “because it works”. A big reveal is when Irina says she hopes that Craig knows what “you are doing”. Craig replies “You always worry too much” meaning that these two have worked together in the past!

Debris S1x06 Finola and Bryan discuss how to handle Maddox and Priya

That last scene is with Finola and Bryan in their SUV. Finola tells Bryan that he can trust her, moreover that she appreciates that he told her about her father against orders. Finola also shares with Bryan that she does not know why Priya told her to reveal why her father George was in Greece shortly before his death. Bryan shares that Priya is “leaving just enough breadcrumbs for Maddox to figure something out”.

Both agree that they are being used, and cannot trust their boss’s, but with a flash to Craig, Bryan shares with Finola that although Maddox saved his life, the CIA is surveilling her apartment !

The big question that comes to mind?

With the new alien technology communications object device, does Craig now have the capability to listen in to their and other peoples conversations, including his wife, what Finola and Bryan just said to each other? Anyone no matter where they are?!
