Falling Skies, an apocalyptic science fiction drama from Dreamworks Studios, is entering its second season on TNT. It stars Noah Wyle as a father of three sons doing his best to keep them alive and fighting back against an alien invasion force.
As a teacher of American History, Tom Mason (Wyle’s character) knows all about resistance against a superior enemy invasion force. He uses examples from the American Revolutionary War to teach the others that as long as they keep fighting, there is hope.
The history teacher in Tom Mason might not be able to explain it, but Falling Skies has become a very popular show. This series is one of survival in the face of an overwhelming enemy.
According to TNT, “Falling Skies opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family was torn apart.
Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood) is a pediatrician who becomes the primary medic of the 2nd Mass. Capt. Weaver (Will Patton) plays a fierce leader of the resistance.
One must ask, what is it about Falling Skies that is attracting so much attention?
Despite premiering on Father’s Day in North America, Falling Skies turned in a winning performance Sunday June 17 with a “Prime Time” victory of 4.5 million live viewers (US only).
Falling Skies scored well for a holiday evening with solid ratings of 1.5 in the critical with adults between 18 to 49 years of age and nearly reaching 2.2 million live adult viewers in the 25 to 54 age group. Not since Stargate SG-1 has a science fiction program attracted so many adult viewers.
Seemingly down 25% from the 2.0 rating earned during the 2011 series launch, overall viewership is expected match the 2011 numbers, increasing to approximately 6 million when “Plus 7” DVR and on-line numbers are factored in.
This from a public who often time shifts their entertainment viewing to on-line network sources, mobile devices and or recorded sources (DVR) now widely available in many homes. Perhaps even more telling is the huge crowd that joined the Falling Skies cast at the dedicated Falling Skies TNT web site to participate in “2nd Watch”.
2nd Watch is an on-line program web cast that is conducted after the broadcast at the TNT Network web site. 2nd Watch, hosted by Wil Wheaton, set the Twitter and Facebook world on fire Sunday evening as eager fans set off to invade the TNT web site where they can chat and send text messages to the host and guests!
In this weeks episode of 2nd Watch, Mpho Koaho (Anthony) and Colin Cunningham (John Pope) will be awesome! Speaking of Pope, this week TNT also launched “Pope’s Blog” featuring insight into the enigmatic “bad boy” portrayed “in character” by Cunningham!
Here is the answer: Stories like the ones told by the TNT writers of Falling Skies attract us because they reflect humanity’s greatest strength, the power of adaptation. As a social animal, people are very curious about how others overcome challenges that might terrify us. We are fascinated by the thought that a person’s attitude can make a difference between life and death.
But it is more than that. Falling Skies has come along just as problems in the United States and around the world seem to be spinning out of control. The heroes in this show are doing more than just surviving.
They are people who are able to stay calm and reasonable in the face of fear; people who have retained their optimism and determination in spite of great odds. They are survivors focussed on others rather than themselves, either thinking about their families or their fellow survivors.
And that, I believe is what makes the show important at this particular time in America. Many Americans are facing challenges known only to their grandparents from the Great Depression often referred to as “the dirty thirties”.
Many today have lost their homes or have gone bankrupt. Many others cannot find jobs. The United States government is basically bankrupt. Horror stories from other countries abound. The world seems to be going crazy.
So, Americans and others around the word watch television as a means of escape. Comedy helps them feel better for a half hour at a time. Crime dramas produce a feeling that justice can occur and the good guys will win in the end.
Falling Skies has chosen to use a period in American history to support the characters belief that they will prevail over an enemy with better technology and greater numbers. Americans need that. It provides a sense of hope and empathy. “If Tom Mason and his group can survive all these bad things happening to them, maybe we can too”.
By watching how others cope with a traumatic event, even if it is fictional, we learn to cope with challenges in our everyday lives. “The biggest difference between our cool-headed heroes and the rest of us is not that those people are somehow fearless; it’s that they relate to their fears in a much more harmonious way than others do. In other words, these poised people have learned to work with their fears rather than against them — they don’t get preoccupied with their nerves or struggle to eradicate their anxiety — and this important shift frees them to focus on the moment and perform their best”, says Taylor Clark, author of the book, Nerve, a book about dealing with fear and stress.
During periods of upheaval, we look more to entertainment to help us feel better about ourselves. For example, during the depression in the 1930’s, popular films at the time were Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz and Frankenstein.
These are all films where a few heroes were forced to overcome what seemed like insurmountable odds in order to survive. I believe that our entertainment often reflects the difficulties that we face as a culture. When the economy is booming, our entertainment is far different from what we watch when things seem to be falling apart.
As the creators of Falling Skies state, the show, “focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances”.
“Tom, I’m old and I can’t remember stuff from one day to the next, but who is that new guy at the back?”
Despite our circumstances, we as a civilization will adapt and change. It is who we are as a people. Falling Skies shows us the best and worst of us in compelling ways. It helps us to learn more about who we are. And it shows us what we are capable of.

Last Monday we had two repeats of previous Warehouse 13 episodes so we held our review of “Insatiable” until just before the exciting two hour season finale “Emily Lake/Stand” on Monday October 03, 2011.

Now that we have revisited Jane’s (Kate Mulgrew) past and know she is Warehouse 13 a regent and Pete’s (Eddie McClintock) mother, we also know A-Z Technologies is run by a man who wants the Collodi Bracelet that enabled him to walk and leave his wheelchair. I guess he will never forgive the Regents or the Warehouse team for taking it from him. So far, four Regents have suffered Artifact-related deaths and the perpetrator is still out there.
The Warehouse team and the Regents are under threat! Pete is still trying to cope with the fact his own mother is one of the regents and feels in a way, deceived. Worse Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) has been fired by Ms. Fredericks (CCH Pounder), has sadly said goodbye to his friend Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) before ultimately being recruited by the evil Marcus Diamond (Sasha Roiz)!
“Insatiable”
Ithaca, New York may not be the most swinging town, but our opening scene is set there on a couple getting busy with the romance in a car. Okay, I’m old fashioned… At least bring a light Camp set-up or something. A CAR? …But I digress. They are feeling very warm indeed when a sound from the surrounding bushes draws the man’s attention from his date and he goes to investigate the gasping sounds. Seems to be a Zombie-like fellow who is in pain and attacks our good Samaritan. The fellow is thrown against his car and when his date comes out to investigate, she too is attacked.
At the warehouse, Pete is still on about his mother being a Regent. Artie explains to him there is a hierarchy in the Warehouse structure. “There’s Mrs. Frederick there’s me, there’s you!” A dog’s whimper sounds and we see Trailer looking dejected.
Artie corrects himself quickly. “Oh, I’m sorry,…How rude… there’s me, there’s Trailer, THEN there’s you!” Pete says that Sykes has been after revenge for decades. If someone was gunning for his mother, would Artie not be concerned? He pointed out. Artie replied “You haven’t met my mother.”
Jinks’ became a short topic of discussion between Lena and Artie. After Jinks pulled his gun on Mrs.. Frederick and was fired, he also had a full-on “Persona Non Gratis” standing among the Agency, and his credit rating, along with all his credentials were Tanked.
Next scene is Claudia, in the coffee house, singing and this time plugged in with an electric guitar. This time, she was singing “Cherry Bomb“, Which was originally done by The Runaways. Allison Scagliotti did it in a style removed from the original Punk rock. This was more Rock-Ballad, Nice work on her part. I am not the only one who thinks so.
Claudia is approached by a nice young man, Dwayne Maddox (Johnny Pacar) who has a band called “Dead Rent”and they are seeking a guitarist. Claudia is only unsure because of her unpredictable schedule, but they leave it at a ‘Sure, why not? See how it goes.’ Then, Claudia calls “Jinksie” to share. Shehas left several messages but as yet, hears nothing back.
Myka and Pete are now at Ithaca General Hospital, seeing the couple from the opener, Identified as Paul and Amy Gillan (Jenny Raven), Myka talks with Paul and his date, who both have bandages on their necks. Myka looks at Amy’s neck and sees a human bite mark. Off they go to ‘Lover’s Lane’ to check it out!
They look about the area and find a man crouched down over a deer carcass, chowing down on it. Pete uses the word most all of us are no doubt thinking: “That man is a Zombie!” And the aforementioned Zombie looks up, showing light sensitivity and tries to attack our heroes! Pete tries to deal with this with his gun drawn and Myka tries to talk with our hapless fellow of the ‘Living Dead’ persuasion. When this fails, Pete fires the trusty Tesla gun and the guy has been subdued.
Myka ascertains the guy is like a Popsicle and gets the man’s wallet. They ID him as Kevin Munroe (Nick Baillie) and he lives in town. As he is hospitalized, Artie and Myka discuss him on their Farnsworth and Artie sees Kevin on the screen “Hmmm, Hyper necrotic skin discoloration and around his mouth hyper stimulation of the salivary glands I would say we have two symptoms of…”
He is interrupted by Kevin trying to jump up from the bed, and says “Peas, Elk, Bison”. Myka tells Artie that doctors said Kevin has frostbite on his toes and ears, but Ithaca has been in a heat wave. Artie tells her he is on the next flight out. “Whatever you do, you keep him restrained!”
Claudia, at the Bed and breakfast, is humming the scales as she comes downstairs with her guitar. The Farnsworth sounds and she is irked by this reminding Artie she has two days off. Artie is as usual a hard-nose and tells her to ‘deal with it. Back in the warehouse, Claudia tries Jinks again, this time she gets him! But he tells her to leave him alone.
Claudia asks him why he is being such a ‘Tool’ at the now disconnected phone. Beside her, a fortuneteller’s booth called “Sallah” comes to life and spits a card out to her. The card says “Death comes for you this night”. Claudia wisecracks at the message and starts to walk down the corridor of the warehouse, when a large heavy object falls off a top shelf, barely missing her.
Myka and Pete go to Kevin’s house. The heat is on full blast and they find a boy, Kevin’s son, hiding in a closet. It is figured out “Peas, Elk, Bison” Actually meant “Please Help My Son”. Myka and Pete bring the boy -who’s name is Danny- to the hospital and meet Artie there.
The kid has not spoken and so none of them know what he may or may not have seen at home. As they are talking while Pete takes the boy to get a candy bar, a call from a local Fraternity house comes to 911 about a man there who has also got the same symptoms as this man Kevin has. Myka and Pete take off to the Frat house, leaving Artie as babysitter to the boy.
At the campus, the house leader, Fenton Wallace (Carter Hayden) meets Myka and explained how “Moose” one of the new boys went on a burrito run and came back like Kevin. Complaining of being cold and he ate all the food, started to bite people. Apparently, “Moose” was still in their basement freaking out.
As Myka and Pete go downstairs to examine the basement, Pete sees Taco wrappers and comments how he is hungry as well. They hear ‘Moose’ over in a corner and it looks as if he is about to bite into a struggling rat in his hand!
Moose takes a run for our duo, but after tackling Myka, Pete subdues him with a club to the head. As Myka assured Pete she was alright, another frat guy comes out of a closet and distracts Peter who is then bitten by Moose. As the others from Lovers’ lane are still unaffected, they doubt it will change Pete.
During their discussion of the frenzy which is effecting Moose and Kevin, Pete’s stomach growls loudly. He walks over to the Food truck across the street. After a rather inept attempt at Spanish, the Server tells Pete, “I speak English, bro” Pete and Myka are still theorizing about becoming a zombie, and the server comes back to give Pete his Burrito. Mockingly saying: “Seis dólares”. For the size of this burrito, I would call that about right. At least Prices in this show are not fictitious.
Artie and the boy are sitting in Kevin’s room as Artie tries to make conversation with Danny. Artie goes to see Kevin close-up as a nurse comes in to change the IV bag. “He’s going through these as fast as I can change them. There’s no sign of infection, bacterial or viral” She tells Artie. “Last reading Body temp was eighty-nine- and dropping. If we don’t reverse this, he’s going to go into organ failure” she leaves Artie standing at Kevin’s bed side.
Claudia is in the Warehouse office and hears the mechanics of what I presume to be the climate control making odd noises. She shuts down the apparatus and falls to the floor, just as the Farnsworth is sounding. It is Artie. Asking about the information he wanted about the undead and artifacts. After she finishes with Artie, her own phone sounds from Lena, telling her Dwayne is waiting at the Bed and Breakfast for her.
She meets Dwayne and tries to explain why she had not been in touch. She says she will get her guitar and meet him when she finishes her work. As she goes to climb the stairs, something throws her back against Dwayne, who hits a light socket and sends a current up to the foyer chandelier, which falls, barely missing both of them.
Back at the hospital, the nurse is saying Kevin’s Body temp is at 77 and if they don’t bring it up, he will be dead in an hour. She will talk to the doctor about putting Kevin on Bypass. After she leaves, Artie placed a pair of glasses onto Kevin’s face and Kevin looks like he is back to normal. Good coloring and all. Seems the glasses once belonged to Albert Butz -Inventor of the thermostat.
Moose escaped from the confines of the hospital staff and ran past Myka and Pete. Moose ran to a vending machine trying to break it open to get at the food within. Moose is subdued and falls Myka has started to show symptoms of the Artifact. Artie and the boy are there as Myka, wrapped in a blanket begins to feel even worse.
Artie and Danny start to talk a bit, when the kid said his father had gone to the food truck for tacos before he got like he is. Seems I can even see a connection, but so do they? Pete does as he asks Danny if if his dad went to Manny’s Food truck. Danny said he had. Pete checked his smartphone because “Manny’s” has a Twitter account and Pete has started to ‘follow’ Manny’s tweets.
Claudia goes back to the fortune teller machine. She is angry at Sallah and treats him (it) to a de-artifacting wash! and almost gets drowned in a form of water. Lena finds her in time and saves her. Then points out Sallah’s “Artifact way” was to not tell futures, but to instill a sense of dread in anyone who asks it a question. The way to fight this was to simply ignore the machine.
Pete and Myka go to a construction site where the Truck is and they find the workers are in a state of ravenous frenzy. Pete gets on the Farnsworth to tell Claudia to tap into the Electricity grid and make all the lights come on brightly, as the ones effected by whatever it is are all light sensitive. Pete gets into the ruck and a bewildered Manny – the owner – is trying to stay alive. During the scuffle, Pete catches Manny’s old tip jar as it rolls off the counter in the shaking truck.
Pete looked at it for a few seconds and shouted over the melee; “Where did you get this?” Manny yelled back “Some place in Utah… I thought it’d make a nice souvenir!” The truck’s doors are forced open by the frenzied crowd and Myka is with them. Pete takes a chance and throws the old jar to the floor and it explodes into streams of light!
As the rays of light die off, the crowd stops, and looks at each other bewildered. Their Farnsworth sounds and it is Artie: “I don’t know what you guys did, but Nice work!” As we see a normal Kevin and his son on the hospital bed.
Back at the Warehouse, Artie talks as the shards of glass are placed into a container. “In 1846, a caravan of men, women and children who were stranded in the Sierra Nevada mountains, were forced to resort to the most extreme measures to survive. Somehow, the horrific ordeals of the Donner Party imbued an ordinary jar with the power to make others experience what they were suffering.” Myka said “And putting money in the jar… triggered it. Why?”
Artie replied “An interesting sidebar.. That jar was one of several that the survivors used to bury their money. Even in the grim shadow of death…” Myka interjected “They were putting a little something away for a rainy day”.
Debriefing over and the artifact now in the inventory, they go off to have pancakes somewhere as we are again back in the coffee house, watching Dwayne playing a song. Claudia came in and Dwayne goes off stage to talk with her. She says she would still like to join the band.
In a bar somewhere, Jinks’ card was declined. Someone come to his aid, and we see our friend Marcus. Marcus is approaching Steve Jinks to see about joining him and his group. At first, Steve Jinks is not interested, but as Marcus turns to leave, Jinks calls him back to sit down and talk
My Take… For What It Is Worth….
Interesting how the Donner Party would have still had their sights on saving money, and even when facing death, they would store what they had away for a rainy day. Speaks of the mindset of pioneers and early settlers before the age of disposable consumerism took over. Those years were hard for many, there was no system like GPS or even airships to search for the Donner Party, and even those in their homes could die in the winters without foresight and a lot of cut wood. Those poor souls lived and died in the most nightmarish scenario I think most of us would rather not imagine.
I also liked how the ‘Fortune teller’ was seen as a hypnotist. Are not most Fortune tellers this way to some degree? Making someone believe that something is going to happen, and many people want to believe them as well, is in my opinion a form of hypnotic suggestion.
Especially when the news is good.
But Claudia was trying to shrug off the Sallah’s cards, and yet, the artifacts seem to get active and she’s in the middle of it all. I am a firm believer in ‘Self-Fulfilling prophecy’, but I still recognize when I go out on the roads, I do not hand over complete control to that. I still accept and use my Response-Ability to be careful of myself and others. I will build my own “Good Fortune” and I hope you will too!

It has been a couple of weeks, I will review both Warehouse 13 “Past Imperfect” episode and then carry on with the most recent weeks episode “The 40th Floor”.
Last week’s Episode was titled “Past Imperfect” and dealt with Myka (Joanne Kelly) finding a man called “Leo”. Turns out Leo was the man who had killed her partner Sam. This episode dealt with Myka’s past and her quest to get Leo for what he had done to Sam. On assignment in Union Station, Denver, Colorado.
Myka sees an individual that looks very much like this ‘Leo’ character! Off she goes in pursuit of him as Pete (Eddie McClintock) is left to try to get what I believe is an artifact Artie (Saul Rubinek) has sent them after. Myka sees, in flashbacks, the shooting of her partner and wants to go find the guy she believes did the killing.
Meanwhile, Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) and Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) are on the Midwest looking through a rather eclectic collection of doorknobs. They are seeking a doorknob which came from the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. This factory was burned down and 146 women workers died in there. They were kept in and the doors locked to keep them from leaving work early… Seems the fear and pain those poor women felt as they tried to escape the fire was absorbed into the doorknob. Jinks found it (OW!) because as they were going through the old lady’s collection, it burned him very badly.
As they were leaving her home, a dog came up to them, very friendly and as Jinks stopped to pet the dog, he, and then Claudia were shot in their necks with what appears to be a dart. They both pass out in the lady’s front yard as the strange collie-mix starts to bark at a distant car. Claudia and Jinks come to to find the artifact has been stolen! They call Artie on the Farnsworth and he seems to think if the dog saw the whole thing then they can get the DOG to help them. He instructs Claudia and Jinks to get back to the Warehouse….and bring the dog.
Claudia and Jinks come back to the Warehouse with the dog. Artie goes to a section containing Fezzes from a depression era mind-reading act; “Mr. Mental and Coco“! Real names; Raymond Frasier and…Coco. In the act, Coco would go into the audience and get things like a monogrammed handkerchief, or what have you, and “Mr. Mental” would be up on stage, blindfolded and read these articles. Seems Ray Frasier had a background in neurology! The Fezzes has small communications devises in them which could read brain waves.
This could read simple items and get the job done perhaps with what they needed to get from the dog. Claudia, Jinks and Artie are trying the fezzes. No sudden moves, Artie and the dog’s fezzes are placed onto their heads. Artie yells out some things at the dog’s ability to ‘remember’ things. A distraction involving a scarab causes the dog to scamper off!
Off Jinks and Claudia go to try to get the dog back. Claudia and Jinks are seeking the loose dog. Claudia gets an idea and uses Pavlov’s bell to get the dog to come to them… The bell also makes Claudia drool like mad! They are successful in that the dog has returned to them…Dead Scarab in his mouth. Claudia is still drooling! This was pretty funny!
Myka and Pete get a call that Leo has been spotted at the train station. The Secret Service and our agents meet up with them. They do get to Leo, who seemingly pulls a gun on Myka “Out of nowhere”. Zack dropped Leo with a single shot. Myka is now a warehouse agent and they are now seeing how Leo did things he did. Leo’s lying on the ground, his gun in his right hand. Odd, Leo is a left handed guy.
Now they are seeking an artifact that skews up time. Artie mentioned the ship in “The Philadelphia Experiment” They now know Leo is not working alone. Someone is handling the artifact and Leo was only being used. Myka and Pete talk about what Sam would have said at this time of Myka’s discouragement, but that musical card which Sam had left for her was the key. The card’s song (“Car Wash” by Rose Royce) … which Myka used to hate, by the way… was interrupted by a recorded message involving Leo!! What is worse is the Myka remembered Sam wanted to give her this card OUTSIDE of the office.
In other words, Sam may have felt it was not SAFE to give it to her at work because of other Agents perhaps being involved! Myka remembers the only other agents with this case were Zack and Jim! Myka says: “It’s time to do something impulsive!” Myka and Pete, along with Jim, go to see the other man, Zack. “Well, this is rather formal, just to say goodbye…” Zack says cordially. “Actually, it’s you who’s saying Goodbye” Said Myka. Pete continues “Yeah, we know how you worked with Leo to get the plates, when Sam got too close, you dropped him…” Myka took it up from here: “All for a lousy promotion!”
Zack looked incredulous at these allegations but JIM digs out the artifact! We see some nice effects of time freeze and a ‘sudden’ appearance of weaponry. Myka gets this artifact away from Jim “The Ship’s Barometer!” she exclaimed. Jim asked “You know about it?” Myka replies “I know that you can stop time…” As we see the muzzle flash and bullet in mid air from Pete’s gun “And I know you sent Sam into the National building with a big target on his chest”
Zack said “When he picked you to be his partner, I knew he had his doubts about me” Myka said “So you killed him.” Jim replied “No, but I held you back long enough so that Leo could.” Myka realized that was why she was late… by 47 seconds! It was during this that Jim regrouped his senses and knocked the ship’s barometer out of Myka’s hands and says “I’ll take that…” But as he reached for the artifact time came back as Myka kicked Jim and Zack’s bullet hit Jim. Pete asked her after the melee. “Do you feel better?” Myka said “No…” But Sam’s killing is now resolved.
Myka gave Allison Sam’s lapel pin and they leave each other in good standing..Back in the Warehouse, Artie shouts the last 3 digits of the license plate and Claudia runs a trace on it. The team has decided to keep the dog, which Artie knows now to be named “Tray” short for “Trailer” The dog will be the warehouse mascot now. License plate is traced back to a rental car…. which would require a Driver’s License, which is quickly visible for all to see: They all look at the screen…It is Sally Stikowski, the FBI agent!! So a new character was added “Trailer The Dog”, Myka got some closure to a case which has been bothering her enough to make her leave her old job, and now another threat from our pal Sally!
“The 40th Floor” Or “You Get What You Give”
We are recapped with scenes of the Regents. Those who oversee and protect the protocol of the Warehouse agents and are in fact “as one” with the actual warehouses. These Regents seem to be of an anomalous life form as they are very unusual in their abilities of mind. But as we see, they also can be under threat. The opening scene of this episode shows a regent named Theodora Stanton being tortured with the doorknob of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. 146 ladies died in the fire at the factory and the doorknob seems to have the power to cause anyone who holds it to burn alive. A horrific death.
We see this happening as a regent, bound to a chair is forced to hold the doorknob and be tortured in this way by none other than Agent Sally Stukowski (Ashley Williams) ! Although the Regent did say something, the doorknob was placed back into her hand and she burned alive in the chair as Stukowski watched.
So, Myka and Pete go to “Hot”-Lanta (Atlanta, GA) and catch up to the nefarious Agent Stukowski at a bar called “the ALIBI” Agent Stukowski tries to run, but Myka zaps her with a Tesla gun and Pete with Jinks carry her back into the bar. Jinks notices her car is the one they saw in WI in the last episode, too….But someone is sitting in the car. A mysterious man I saw in New York a couple of episodes back who I now know to be “Marcus”. Jinks slowly starts to approach the car and Marcus slowly drives off.
Our team is now going through Sally’s bag and they bag the doorknob. They use a parchment from Henry Morgan Stanley. laying one’s hand on this shows where that person has been in the previous twelve hours. Artie sees where Stukowski has been.They see where she has been more than once, and they find 528 Donald Street is their destination.
Claudia gets the SIM card from Stukowski’s phone for retrieving data of her calls.. and the team arrive at 528 Donald street… site of a skyscraper. As Artie, Pete, Myka and Claudia all try to enter, heavy security tells them the building is closed. Artie surveys the situation and they act as though they are leaving. Claudia then does the nicest ‘Revolving Door’ scene involving a little Tesla Grenade! I enjoyed this.
Upon re-entering the building Artie notices a tattoo on the wrist of one of the security guys and exclaims “The Eye of Horus…” But what *I* saw was the eye of “Thoth”. The ‘tear ducts’ of each are reversed. Thoth’s is His right eye… The tear duct comes down to the left from the eye, but Horus’ eye is His left one and its’ tear line comes down from the eye to the right. The Eye of Horus is actually the basis of today’s “Rx” symbol used in Pharmaceuticals. -But I digress-
Artie seems to know the significance of this symbol. On checking the guard’s pocket, he finds a business card to a suite on the 40th floor, belonging… apparently to a Diana K. Snow. When Myka asked who she was, Artie seems to be visibly shaken and acts as if to ‘shush’ her.Back in Atlanta, Jinks and Sally are volleying little remarks to each other as he tries to question her as to what she is doing.
Sally tells him that the Regents are not the paragons of virtue he would like to believe and she can prove it. Another voice comes in: ” Can you, Miss Stukowski? because that is something I would very much like to hear” as Mrs. Frederick (CCH Pounder) walks into frame. Forgive me, but when SHE shows up I know this is serious Business! Even Sally has the expression of “Oh #$!t” at this time.
Back in the skyscraper, our team reach the suite and are greeted by one of the Regents Mr. Cosaan. Myka now figures out “Diana K. Snow” is an anagram. Two other Regents are there too; Philippe a Russian Regent and Jane another Regent Three Regents in one place. Kate Mulgrew is “Jane”. Good to see her! She is a favourite of mine in general.
Our team takes the elevator with the other regents but Myka tried to tell the Regent security man not to….OH WELL, said so in the script, right? The elevator cables are broken and Myka uses a grapple gun from 1890 to shoot out a cable to secure the elevator car until they can escape.
Back in Atlanta, Sally lays on the Southern Accent thick as molasses to Mrs. Frederick, who, in turn tells her to can it, Sally, “You’re from Connecticut” (Good curve ball!) So Stukowski does in fact start to talk normally, saying “That’s right boy wonder” to Jinks “Even the human Lie Detector can’t detect a phoney accent” Frederick is now going to try to persuade Stukowski to spill what she knows. Mrs Frederick is telling Stukowski the Regents she had tortured and killed were friends of Mrs. Frederick’s. Sally snapped back ‘Those friends of yours are the ones who started this all, lady!” Jinks asked “Started what?” Sally said “You’ll see… soon enough”.
Back at the skyscraper, Artie calls Claudia on the Farnsworth and tells her about the elevator. At the same time, on Peachtree Avenue, Stukowski’s cohort, James Aquino is closing his account at a bank… Meanwhile, Pete and Claudia have triangulated Sally’s cohort’s location to that place and are arriving there. Upon completion, Aquino grabs the bank manager and holds a spray can to him. Pete pulls a Tesla gun on him “You do realize that’s not a gun you’re holding…?” but Aquino tells him “You have no idea what this can do…” and pushes the Bank manager forward, spraying a bit of the paint onto his jacket. The jacket starts to burn. A chase ensues and Aquino escapes… for now.
Back up on the skyscraper, Artie is trying to tell the Regent’s security man Mr. Jackson, to get all of them out and contact emergency service. As Myka starts to leave, but the female Regent says she is going with Myka. Security guy does not like this! So far however, he is left with little choice in the matter with a look from Jane.
As she and Myka walk along, one of my Favorite lines came from Jane: “If this is a typical Snag, bag and tag, I’d hate to see it when things are all FUBAR” (FUBAR = F—ed Up beyond All Recognition)… After seeing all they could they rejoin on the 34th floor Everything to the 11th floor is inaccessible. Artie then sees a reflection of the building they are in and sees it is in fact disintegrating from the ground up.
Artie sees this is originating from an Anarchy symbol tagged on a wall of the building.Back in “The Alibi”, Agent Stukowski is being readied for interrogation by Mrs. Frederick. Mrs. Frederick (CCH Pounder) has a medal from a Japanese unit from World War 2 (Unit 731) who dealt in human experimentation and biological warfare. The medal taken from a commander’s coat, can cause the wearer to have the sense of drowning. It is being held now by Mrs. Frederick.
In other words, Instant “Water torture”. Mrs. Frederick is on the phone with Mr. Cosaan and say she will do whatever it takes to get the information from Stukowski. As Frederick places the medal against Stukowski’s chest, Sally is in a sense drowning and the effects are pretty good.
Claudia has rigged a way to ‘lie’ to Akino’s GSP system as he drives along. Claudia digs out a little gizmo she apparently made and connects to Aquino’s GPS while they are bot on the move. Claudia then gives false directions to the device in a perfect ‘GPS Voice’ and Aquino is none the wiser. He continues through the streets listening to his GPS!
Meanwhile, Jinks watches Mrs. Frederick apply the medal again to Sally’s chest. He is against torture and tries to reason with Mrs. Frederick. But she will not listen and again makes Sally suffer. Sally, unknown by the others is working the restraints loose behind her.
At the skyscraper, Artie and the others see a window washing rig below them and they try to get down to it. As they travel down a stairwell, they notice the landing giving way. Jackson is forced to make the Ultimate sacrifice as he falls into the burning floor. Jane tells Myka “Mr. Jackson knew the risks. So …Cowboy up.”
Back at the “Alibi” Sally mentioned the Berlin wall regarding the paint. As Mrs. Frederick keeps the medal to Sally’s chest, Sally works the restraints almost free and Jinks can take no more of this “We don’t torture people! It gives unreliable intel!” as he pulls his gun on Mrs. Frederick!!! Yikes, this guy has got intestinal fortitude doing something like that! It is at this time Stukowski is free and makes good her escape from Jinks and Mrs. Frederick. As they watch Sally running off, Mrs. Frederick turns to Jinks and says levelly, “Now, we must discuss the consequences of YOUR actions.”
The Warehouse team -via their Farnsworths- talk about the Anarchy symbol and the German taggers who painted it. Seems the ultimate symbol of their rebellion is steeped in intense emotion. Pete and Claudia catch up to Akino they have now trapped in an alley and Akino says “We’re both cooked” and sprays the stuff into his own mouth, which causes him to disintegrate.
Claudia and Pete bag the paint, but this does not stop the skyscraper’s disintegration. Artie, at the skyscraper is trying to get them to the window washing rig. Philippe, a Russian Regent has been crushed by a part of the building and knowing his fate, he and Jane join in the Regent bonding to transfer power to her from himself. Mr Cosaan assists with a key that joins these shackles together..
After a flash of energy and light, Jane is now connected as she should be, releasing Philippe from his tie. “My time…is over….” Philippe tells Jane. “You are the guardian now…” and the red lines of disintegration take Philippe. Jane is shaken and is helped up by Myka.We get the feeling Jane and Philippe knew each other for ages.
Artie uses an artifact on the large window glass to get it out of the way and unfolds Lloyd Wright’s Pick-up-Sticks. As Artie drops this out the window, they form a ladder. I’m sure a lot of people in construction and those of nefarious intent would Love to have a set of these sticks!
Artie gets down the ladder to a safe drop to the scaffolding. Jane is holding back, still upset by the death of her colleague Philippe and Myka now plays the ‘big girl’ saying “Look, he knew the risks! So Cowboy Up, lady, ’cause we’re gettin’ the hell outta Dodge! Come on…” Jane makes Mr. Cosaan go first, leaving Myka and herself on the floor. The ladder is now corrupted so Arite reluctantly leaves the two women on the 40th floor. Mr. Cosaan is adamant that Jane must be rescued. Meanwhile, Jane figures out a way to use the fire hoses on every other floor and rappelled down the floors through the elevator shaft.
Meanwhile, the others figure out the possibility that by painting over the anarchy symbol with a peace symbol and feeling emotion to counteract the effects of the other paint could reverse the effects. As they paint, it is in fact, working! The red lines of destruction are being replaced by blue and resolve.
Sally, however is in with her cohorts who end up killing her. The man who has been working with her -Marcus- seems to care a little at least as he says ‘It’ll look like an undetected heart defect’. The other man in the wheelchair said “Marcus, you were right… She wasn’t up to it.” Marcus replies “I’ll make sure someone finds her”. The other man says “You’re a good friend.” Marcus walks out of the room. I guess we shall see no more of this villain Stukowski!
Back at the skyscraper, everyone is seeking and finding each other. Pete is very relieved to find Myka. Mrs. Frederick is there too, and she with Mr. Cosaan speak of this ‘business’ called “A to Z Technologies”. Apparently this is the name the bad guys are using.
Claudia is told by Jinks that he has been fired by Mrs. Frederick. Claudia is ready to go talk to Mrs Frederick but Jinks stops her. He leaves and Claudia sits back down and cries. As the others are all leaving, Myka takes Pete over to where Jane is standing. Myka makes the polite introduction: “Jane, this my partner Agent Pete Latimer” Jane turns to Pete, who stares back, smile dissolving as he exclaims “MOM!”
MY Take…For What It Is Worth…
This episode has a lot of “Energy Transference” playing into it. Seems we GET what we GIVE in this one. Never presume that just because you have been inducted into a top, top, top secret organization that those above you are “Buddies” or “Friends”. Jinks was too sensitive to carry out an interrogation of a brutal ‘spy’.
Pulling his gun on Mrs. Frederick was the ULTIMATE act of insubordination and frankly he is lucky to have only been fired. However, having said that, this was abut the most ’emotional’ I have seen Mrs. Frederick become. I do not think Jinks will stay away. Instead, I am hoping something happens to bring him back.
I think we all knew she was very close to the Regents and did, in fact have their protection at heart. I will miss Agent Stukowski’s character, as the Warehouse team sort of needs a BAMF adversary. She WAS a bit irritating though with that high-pitched voice and syrupy accent. She did bring it up a notch though, in that she has shown us the Regents are NOT ‘immortal’. They are a close-knit group who have always maintained an air of mystique. How old ARE they? How did they come to the point where ‘Guardianship’ is transferred in the way it is? Is it a form of Ceremonial Magic? Technology alone? Are the Regents in fact, a branch of ET humans given charge over Eartheaon history perhaps?
The paint with the heavy emotion infused into it speaks of energy transference through inanimate objects. Do we have this power in real life? Most likely we can. Some people place a lot of faith in Crystals, Totems and Jewelry or a special thing a family member may have left us. In my own opinion, I saw the paint as symbolic of our ability to tear down corporations/groups we may be in. Causing discontent, lowering morale of colleagues, what have you… could well turn a happy workplace into a drudgery. We as a people must take care not to tear down the infrastructure of a society in part or as a whole. I also saw it as the power of Peaceful intent overriding the hate and fear that is the basis of war. Instead of ‘buying into’ the act to war and the emotions which may be causing this conflict of spirit, we must take ourselves in hand and gain control over our environs and those who would have us fall. We are the ‘Blue paint of peace’ in many ways.
I was surprised by Pete on seeing Jane and saying “MOM!” this was a surprise and hopefully, it means Kate Mulgrew will be around for some time to come.

Face it. There are those who would call us “Geeks” because we happen to LOVE quality Television show such as Warehouse 13. In fact, I got my Significant Other into this show just this week, by syncing his iPad to my iMac as I normally do, and …uhm… I ‘accidentally, on purpose’ parked 2 episodes of our show (“The New Guy” and “Queen For A Day”) onto the iDevice. A few days later -which was actually last night, he came to me with the device in hand, a pleading look on his face … “Honey, can I have more Warehouse 13 on this? From the beginning?” Of course he can!! Happy to do that for him!
GOTCHA!!!! YESSSS!
My fellow has a pretty high IQ and he loves few things so much as to come asking me for them. Strike it up for a NEW Warehouse fan, folks!
“Don’t Hate The Player”- Or Facing Your Biggest Fears:
When “my guy” gets to this episode, I feel he will be truly hooked for good. He has always loved the Eureka series and as mentioned above this episode has a special guest star Neil Greyston leader of Eureka’s “Global Dynamics” corporation. It is only right, Eureka last season guest stared Allison Scagliotti (Claudia), so there we go. It is nice to see the crossover of my two favorite TV shows. My guy is a “Gamer” He loves “Second life and virtual reality type games, so this episode is right up his alley!
We open in a coffeehouse. The old kind that would have singers and poetry night etc. A dying trend here in my area. A young man sits on the stage, playing a guitar and Claudia and Pete come in. Pete stands and watches the musician and Pete comes back to him with coffees for the agents, who are preparing for a “Super Fun Night of inventory reports.” (I am working in Retail, I feel their pain!).
Pete tells Claudia she should bring her “Guit-Box” (Guitar) to play for the locals. Claudia says no… but Pete summarize this whole episode right then by saying “Come on… You gotta get out of your comfort zone! You play at the B&B all the time!” Claudia said “Yeah, where nobody can HEAR me!” Now, after a few years as a musician myself,
I sense that she is going to be pretty fine. It is usually those who ARE good who are also shy about it. The Farnsworth rings and it is not Artie. It is a friend of Fargo’s who is calling because Fargo is in distress. Apparently he and Gibson were testing a new gaming device for better sensory input. Fargo’s heart rate is elevated and is in trouble! Our fearless duo, along with Myka goes to Gibson’s location in Palo Alto, California. They see Fargo and other guys with devices all over them with headbands.
Sounds of beeping and light flashing from their hands as well signifies something is NOT going well at all. Gibson tells them what has happened. They were testing a beta of a gaming device and we learn from a Promotional Video Fargo had made for his endeavor called “FARGAMES” about this new device which is called the “B.R.A.I.D.” -Bio-electric Reality Augmentation Interactive Device- Which is a sensory enhancing tool so that one does not just ‘Play’ a game, one actually LIVES in the game. According to Gibson, everything was going well, but after a few hours, their vitals started to spike.
Only problem was, the B.R.A.I.D. never worked. The Human brain could not process the lie of artificial reality, but Fargo thought he found something that helped overcome this barrier: A tea, made in a special teapot which turns out to be an artifact! We can see the ‘artifact actions when the lid was lifted and the sounds indicating its’ mystery.
Meanwhile, in New York City, Agent Steve Jinks is at an Art Gallery meeting with Agent Sally Stukowski (Ashley Williams) . That syrupy-sweet Southern accent usually turns people into butter, but Jinks is not impressed. Artie comes into the room and introductions are made. Sally is now briefing them about Eric Johnson, 47, who took a dive out of the window. The official ruling was ‘suicide’ but she is not buying this as Johnson had been very happy in his life, no depression or erratic behavior.
Johnson only fell two stories, but the injuries are much worse than anything like that. Artie sees an interesting piece of art. A Van Gogh painting called “Stormy night”. Artie wants to get that out but cannot tell anyone. “If we’re going to get that painting…” Artie tells Jinks “…We’re going to have to steal it” They leave and we see Agent Stukowski lower her cellphone and give Artie and Jinks a suspicious look as they depart.
Back at Gibson’s house, we see Lena on the Farnsworth showing a teacup to our team. “Did the teapot look like this?” She asked. It was an exact match and that is when we learn it is part of the set owned at one time by Beatrix Potter, of “Peter Rabbit” Fame. Beatrix used to make teas from various fungi cultivated by Potter during her time as a mycologist. The tea was known to stimulate the pineal region -The imagination center- of the brain. They asked Lena to send them the scans of these items.
Just as sounds of distress emanate from the other room! Seeing Fargo and Jerry in distress, Claudia says looking over the schematics, she sees no way of doing anything for them…”From out here.”. Out comes the tea, and Peter with Claudia are hooked up to the B.R.A.I.D. and are given choices of Avatars. Pete wants to be a “Bad @$$”, but Claudia says “I’ll just be myself” Peter drinks the tea and is tripped off into game. Communication is established with this reality and then Claudia says, “Fill ‘er up” as she hold out a cup for the tea.
We spiral through the brain into a fantasy land of generic landscaping and Peter with Claudia are walking on a road. Peter looks like a Gladiator, and Claudia makes an adorable Elf! Pointed ears and all. They both stop and look as Claudia asks “Is it me, or does that look a little bit like…” Pete replied: “Yep, Fargo made a “Warehouse 13 Video game!”
The Warehouse actually looks like it is a mix of a palace and the Warehouse itself. I am guessing this MIGHT be a coming item. A “Warehouse 13 game”… sans the seizures and health risks and trippy-tea, might just sell!
Claudia looks at Pete and says “Aaaaand, you’re a stripper.” “No!” Pete clarifies nervously, “I’m a Gladiator. It’s cool, right?” Claudia says “Yeah… nice skirt!” Peter looks at Claudia and says “Heh, nice ears!” She finds out she is not ‘Herself’ but is in fact, an ‘Elf’. “I said MYSELF!” Claudia grumbles. Pete tells her that is why she need to enunciate! All of their getting acquainted with their Avatars is interrupted by an Avatar of ARTIE! Welcoming the ‘Players’ to the game!! –This is Too COOL!!
Whump! Down our duo falls into the game through a wormhole-like portal! They end up inside “Fortress 13, the most wondrous place that has Never been seen!” Claudia sees they must play along in order to continue into the game. As they do accept the challenge to save the princess, Myka calls them on the Farnsworth. –Well, at least THAT works in the Alternative reality!
Now back in New York City, We hear the ‘mysterious music as Artie enters the gallery. Jinks is following Artie, saying the security system is far too sophisticated.. As Artie disables the door lock with a pen-like instrument. Jinks starts to enter the room but Artie stops him, pointing out the laser light beams crossing the room from every which way.
Artie explains; “To Warehouse agents, this isn’t burglary, it’s ‘creative snagging’.” as he launches a small device called an ‘Eclipse’ to the other wall, disabling the laser beams. They now stroll into the room. The laser detection system will be ‘off’ for 42 minutes and 59 seconds. The time of an actual eclipse. Pretty cool, huh?
Well, it WOULD be, but our Southern Belle, Agent Stukowski is there, and she knew they would be back! She tells them “You either include me, or ah’ll trip the alarm.” Will Jinks and Artie resist the guile of that Southern accent?? Do they feel the suspicion that I do?? Remember the tale of the “Crossroads’ and Deals with the Devil happened in the Deep South too. If “Scratch” (The Devil) talks like that in those fables, I’d be pretty careful!
Back in Palo Alto, Our team is hooked into the game and we see them on the sofa, hands and headband lit up, amidst beepage from the tech around them. Myka, meanwhile looks over the scans Lena has sent with Peter Rabbit early sketches and story lines. “Not the Peter Rabbit *I* remember…” Well, looking at these, I don’t recall that Peter Rabbit either! YIKES!
She says as she gets a mug containing pens and pencils, looking at it. Peter and Claudia, back in the game are walking about and it turns out they have been going in circles to about twenty minutes. They hear the cries of a female and see something on the floor. Pete tries to free it with his sword, but it did not work. Instead Pete felt (Yes, FELT) the full sensory experience Fargo was talking about. Claudia has a vial of ‘Purple goo’ so she reasons this is all involving an artifact and uses the gel to unlock the bonds of the captive.
On rising from the ground, the captive drops the hooded garb and it is revealed to be Lena… with wings! She tells the players that for freeing her, she will show them the way. As she turns, a ribbon of gold lights a path through the darkness. And because Claudia used her wits instead of brute force, Lena gives her a white feather. “This is your Boon.” She explains. “If you need to, you may call on Lena… of the Eagle People”.
Lena turns, wings spread and she flies away. Claudia and Peter continue on their way, unaware that some -THING- is following them. They continue to another room, which turns out to be a copy of the Dark Vault in the Warehouse. “Oh, No he didn’t!” Claudia exclaims “Pete assures her that yes, he did copy the Dark Vault!
In the center of this room a key lays on a small pedestal and Claudia picks it up. She recognizes it as the key to the black tower where they need to go to free the Princess. –I do not know what frequency they used but on the TV, my desktop and my iPad as I watched this on each, the sound used as the key glowed in Claudia’s hand got my dogs barking like mad. They got a sound in there that the Pom-Poms did NOT care for.
As Claudia turned back to Pete, he said “Claudia, WAIT!” They both look at the ground where it is like liquid now. They see a hand coming out and Pete offers his sword handle to the entity to pull it out of the mire. It is Doug Fargo! Fargo is relieved to be rescued and in this reality, his vitals slow down to normal. “Where’s Jerry??” Fargo asks as he reached to grab Peter’s controller…
“What happened to your controller?” Pete asked. “HE happened…” replied Fargo as we see the monstrosity with glowing eyes that was following Claudia and Pete.
The ‘Grim Reaper’ snags all their controllers as well. Pete tries to initiate swordplay but failing this, he turns to the others and says “You know, I think even in a video game, sometimes it’s OK to … RUN!!” They all commence fleeing to a safer area. The Farnsworth rings and Myka reports Fargo’s vitals are back to normal. She also tells them about the original Peter Rabbit stories being like a dream journal and very dark! Fargo points out that ‘executioner guy’ and the quicksand were NOT part of the original game.
They are guessing the tea has something to do with it. Seems the tea calls up darker aspects of the subconscious! Fargo always feared drowning and he was in quicksand. Fargo believes the ‘executioner guy’ is from Jerry’s fears. Myka tells them to find Jerry and get out of there as she continues to research more. Okay. But without the controllers how do they do that? Fargo says they have to play it out. Finish the game. Fargo tells them Jerry must have gone to the Black Tower! Off to the Black Tower!! …Myka finds out the girl on the picture mug with Jerry is an old girlfriend who they find out is called Hannah!
Back in New York City, Jinks and Artie are in the gallery. Artie uses a device which places a copy of the “Stormy Night” painting onto a blank canvas. “Nice!” exclaims Jinks. Artie says “This is a memory paper from the Johannes Gutenberg printing press. Van Gogh himself wouldn’t know the difference.”.
Agent Stukowski sneezed and she and the others are attacked by the original painting’s storm. Artie sees it was the puff of air from Sally’s sneeze that triggered the artifacts’ reaction. Artie sprays neutralizer onto the painting which stops the storm it was creating. Just when it seems we have won, the alarm system re-activates and summons ‘New York’s Finest’ to the museum!
Once again back in Palo Alto, Hanna comes into the room and sees Jerry and the others. She cannot wake him out of the game. She tells them she wanted more…something serious. She had waited for months and even found the ring he bought her. But he never asked her. Jerry kept putting off having a normal life with her, wanting “FARGAMES” to take off first. She broke up with him a week before.
My take on this people –Guys and girls who are heavy gamers, … you may want to take a close look at this. No everyone is willing to wait for you. Invite your loved one on board. they may well like what your endeavoring to do, they may not, but it is better to find out now, right? Stringing anyone along until YOU are ready is not cool. Establish yourself if you must do so, do it on your own or with your business partners first, THEN get your romantic interests going.–Just my thought on this matter.
We now see the gamers going through the white tunnel like the one in the first Warehouse 13 season. They get to a doorway and Claudia is all set to go on in to save the princess! Fargo wants to tell Claudia something first, but Claudia uses the key and walks in.
Oh, Em, Gee, the Princess is CLAUDIA!! A very, very… BUXOM, Bodacious Claudia!! Yep, Fargo had to do this in honor of “boy gamers” everywhere, right? “Our” Claudia sees this simpering, shrill voiced defenseless little girl version of herself and asked “What are those THINGS on my chest?”
During this jocularity, we hear a male’s voice weeping bitterly. Pete draws his sword to fight the prospective foe, instead finding Jerry who is now warning them of impending doom. We see the ‘real-life’ Jerry, vital signs going through the roof! Meanwhile in the game, the ‘Princess’ Claudia is dissolved by the ‘Executioner Guy’.
Pete goes to slay the thing and gets whacked down by the ‘Executioner Guy’! Claudia tries to revive Peter, while Jerry’s avatar, trembling and calling to Hannah, gets Claudia’s attention. “Who’d Hannah?” she asked as she tries again to revive Peter. Pete gets to the doorway to see the glowing eyes and then a wall of fire!
Back in this reality, our gamer’s vitals are all elevated and Gibson is freaking out a bit over Jerry’s heart rate of almost 230 bpm. Myka puts on a headgear. It is figured out, the ‘executioner guy is perhaps Hannah! Fargo says it is not….Oh, yes, it IS!! It is NOT only part of the game. They call on Lena! She appears and lends them her Steed! This is pretty good effects here.
Back at the museum, Artie and Jinks are in the back of a police car assuming Agent Stukowski has turned them in. But she actually had not. She gets our daring duo away from the local cops! NICE! But why was she so willing to do this? The plot definitely thickens!
Back in the game, Claudia, Pete and Fargo watch as Jerry is affixed into a guillotine and facing decapitation by the ‘executioner’… Which HE thinks is his fear of commitment (Hannah) Jerry pleads with the entity, reasoning his fears of commitment and that he meant no harm!
Claudia, meanwhile starts to hear the voice of her Doctor from her time in the Psychiatric facility. “This is all another delusion, dear” he says. Claudia turns slowly to the voice “Dr. Mitchner?” she asks… “He’s not real” she says as the avatar tells her “None of this is real, You’re an emotionally troubled young woman…Your brother is dead!”
Fargo and Pete are instantly bound in Strait jackets held by a virtual ‘assistant’ and Claudia also is now in a strait-jacket is now writhing on the gurney beside Dr. Mitchner. Claudia is screaming and terrified. “You’ve placed yourself in this delusion Claudia, hiding in the warehouse where you would feel safe… but you’ve been here all this time in this institution….with me.” The Doctor holds an arcing electro-shocking type device over Claudia’s head as she continues to scream. Dr. Mitchner continues; “You need your treatments, dear. You’ll feel better after your treatment, you always do…”
A red-hooded figure appears, shooting a flaming arrow at a site off screen, distracting the “Doctor”, I think at the ‘assistant’ who was holding Peter and Fargo in their strait-jackets at bay… which seems to snap Claudia back into the game. Claudia looses her bonds and jumps off the gurney, and dissolves Dr. Mitchner with the device he had been holding. He disappears into a spray of blue light, as does the ‘assistant’ who was with Pete and Fargo. I really like the “Virtual” game effects in this episode. Very cool!
Turns out, the red-hooded figure was Myka, who has joined in the game! She removes the red robe and looks like a dominatrix …Pete does not mind! Pete is all for this look. They all figure out when they were all confronted by their worst fears, seeing the others with them helped them get enough courage to cut through their fright. Now, they have to find Jerry and get him out of the guillotine! Claudia uses her “Boon” -The feather given to her by Lena earlier in the game, to get them out of there to where Jerry is about to meet his deadly fate!
Back in New York City, Agent Stukowski, Artie and Jinks are on a street side as Stukowski gives them a roll containing the real Van Gogh and got the ‘real’ fake one in the right place. All looks nice and cozy as she leaves them. Jinks see Artie is troubled and asks “What’s wrong?” Artie simply says “Something” as we see Agent Stukowski heading back to her car, while looking at a man in a taxi, who looking back her, nods calmly.
Back in the game, our team arrives where the ‘Executioner’ is Pete and the executioner are in swordplay. Fargo tries to off the demon-like creature but ‘she’ gets his controller… the one he had hidden… then Pete tried to run her through with the sword! NOTHING!! “Cheater!” Pete snarls as he continues to fight the menace. We get a glimpse of the Angry Hannah!!
Oh, heck, it is up to Jerry to face this demon. Myka and Claudia continue to urge Jerry to go to her/it and propose!-His fear of the proposal being this monster, he has to fulfill the proposal- and end this! Jerry runs to the entity and proposes to ‘it’. ‘It’ becomes a beautiful Hannah who smiles at Jerry and dissolves away.
Arthur (Artie) comes in saying “Congratulations Players! The game is complete! Now let us go get something to eat!” BANG, our heroes are back in Palo Alto, looking at their hands and gaming devices! They are all in this world again!
Now that all is well, we return to the coffeehouse and Claudia is stepping onto the stage. She did actually play and sing the song for “Real”. That IS Allison Scagliotti herself playing the song. Pretty well too, I might add! Song was “Where is My Mind?” By The Pixies from their ‘Surfer Rosa’ as well as their ‘Wave of Mutilation’ album.I like the original track, but Allison Scagliotti did a VERY nice job on the ‘acoustic’ version!
As we hear Claudia singing, we see Jerry, proposing on bended knee, ring and all, to Hannah. She accepts! We see the teapot from Beatrix Potter being placed on the shelf in Warehouse 13.Things are being put right in our Warehouse World.
As the audience applauded, we flash to a place where Agent Sikowski tells a person in a wheelchair; “It’s done.” A male voice instructs; “Now, wait.”.
Looking over the warehouse we now see the “Stormy night” painting in its’ proper place, but it starts to release light as tiny, mechanical-looking bugs swarm out all over the warehouse!

My Take…For What It Is Worth…
We all have fears. Every one of us. We can try to look all cool and nonplussed, but every single human being….maybe others too, have deep dark places we do not want to go to in our minds. It may well be interesting to actually see a game which calls us out in recognizing our fears. Fargo’s game, albeit fictitious right now, may be quite factual and ‘normal in a few years. Right now there are games and psychiatric methods involving games to help patients dealing with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and some fears like that of flying.
Simulation games to get at the root of these troubles is nothing new. but the methods may well become so sophisticated in ‘Virtual Reality’ within a few years, who knows what else can be done? Perhaps “Mind Control” will be served with these things we all now see as “Recreation”. I believe we all have a Response-Ability to be aware and perhaps act on any unhealthy fixations with video games in general. When a GAME takes over your normal life, this is not unlike the Addict seeking their next ‘fix’ of their chosen joy. Be it drugs, alcohol, sex, gaming, whatever it may be to you, we should maintain a boundary between ‘reality’ and ‘fantasy’.

Our analysis of episodes “Sanctuary part 2” and “What Hides Beneath” reveals the darkest side of humanity. In both episodes the fate of innocent people hang in the balance. In both episodes Dreamworks Television continued to dovetail the travesty of human against human interaction during a disaster begun in the previous weeks episode “Sanctuary Part 1”.
As reported previously It seemed like our survivors might be getting some help from the Seventh Regiment of the Massachusetts National Guard when Terry Clayton portrayed by Henry Czerny appeared on the scene. As we learned however, Terry had no intention of saving anything but his own skin in a deal with the Skitters! Terry Clayton even come from? He came out of nowhere just in time to save the day as the episode opened.
Hal Mason (Drew Roy), Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) and Margaret (Sarah Sanguin Carter) had rescued the children from the hospital and Dr. Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood) had surgically removed all of the harnesses from their backs. All but one child survived and to my surprise Ben Mason (Connor Jessup) actually remembered his father.
We learned that our tough girl Margaret is a cancer survivor and her and Hal seem to be getting close. I hope to see more of a relationship for these two in the future. We found out the Skitters have a maternal bond with our children.
Speaking of mothers, Sarah (Melissa Kramer) had her baby shower which brought a bit of normalcy to the survivors. Anne Glass and Captain Weaver (Will Patton) both mourned the loss of loved ones quietly and we actually got to see Anne turn bad ass and kill a Skitter. What sweet revenge!
While Anne is treating Eli, a desperate set of parents hold her at gun point and demand all her medicine. Medicine has been so hard to come by for the resistance, and Anne is reluctant to give it up. It looks like the pair is gonna get the medication until Terry Clayton comes along. Thank goodness it is someone that Captain Weaver recognizes. Weaver thought that the 7th Mass had fell apart after most of it was destroyed by aliens.
Terry Clayton looks tired, beaten, and very frustrated that his entire unit was taken out by the Skitters. He tells Tom Mason, Captain Weaver. Dai (Peter Shinkoda) and Mike (Martin Roach) that the Skitters are on their way to the school within days! According to Clayton, Porter (Dale Dye) wants him to take anyone under the age of 20 and leave the camp. He is to go to a farm that is not too far from the school. It seems reasonable that the children would be safe there.
According to Clayton, the Third Mass is in between them and the last attack. Finally a new face with ideas on how to keep the children safe! A few of the parents are reluctant to send their kids away. Tom Mason does not like the idea but of course Captain Weaver, who always has the final say, makes Tom relay this information to the rest of the parents. I would not want my children to be away from me if there were Mechs and spider-like aliens roaming around.
Newly recovered Ben Mason seems to be doing well this episode. So well in fact he can do 102 sit ups without even breaking a sweat. What on earth did the Skitters do to him? Talking to his younger brother Matt Mason (Maxim Knight), Ben tells him how the Skitters were like family to the children. The Skitters knew what they wanted and when they needed it without saying a word. Ben said he actually missed that. Missing multi-legged aliens? Hal hears Matt and Ben talking and takes his concerns to Anne. Hal is impressed that Ben is no longer a brat!
Jimmy Boland (Dylan Authors), who had been in trouble for an incident involving a pet dog and a robot, is eager to be put back to work. Captain Weaver agrees to let him act as a sentry and stand watch over the school. Parker and Jimmy are on sentry duty and see an approaching Mech. Parker who is not thrilled to be working with a 13 year old, is killed and Jimmy comes face to face with a Mech! Barely escaping Jimmy runs through the camp yelling “Mech Mech” to anyone that can hear him.
Captain Weaver comes to the rescue killing the Skitter and gives Jimmy a warm hug. We get to see a softer side to Captain Weaver. Jimmy is visibly shaken and what 13 year old would not be. This theme plays out in every episode we see. Humans being forced to deal with inhumane situations. The writers have done an excellent job with the script and each episode the characters get back in touch with their humanity. We still see humans fighting with humans in a fight for survival.
Some of the camp members are suspicious of Ben and the children that were rescued. One of the members refers to them as “razor backs”. Ben tells his father that he wants to leave with Clayton. He appeals to his father’s love of history by comparing the blitz of London in world war II to their parents having to send the children out first to keep them safe. Tom realizes his son has grown up and decides to let Matt and Ben go with Clayton. Tom is convinced the Third Mass will be there the next day so he convinces the other parents to let their children go as well.
There are touching moments between the Mason family this episode. Hal feels guilty having fought with Ben the day their mother died. Hal’s promise to his mom was to look after his brother and father. The one thing I did love this episode was we saw Tom Mason and Anne Glass hold hands towards the end as they watch the children leave with Clayton. I could not tell if they were feeling some sort of hope or was Anne lending support to Tom as his children leave.
Finally the children arrive at the farm and there are happy faces everywhere. Once the children get settled Clayton goes to see someone. That someone turns out to be Eli! Eli is the child whose parents left the camp with him just the day before. Where are his parents? Clayton says he is taking Eli to see his parents. Taking Eli to a path in the woods, he meets up with a girl named Megan.
Megan tells Eli she is taking him to see his family. Megan has a stoic look on her face and Eli starts feeling apprehensive. He makes one futile attempt to go back to camp but a Skitter quickly grabs him and takes him away. Clayton has just given one of the children to the aliens! I have contemplated over this for days now. How does Clayton benefit from this? Clayton leaves Eli with the Skitter and goes back to the farm. It is very obvious the survivors trusted their children with the wrong man.
Clayton heads back to camp and goes to the basement with a bowl of food in his hands talking to someone sitting at a table. I was excited to see that is was John Pope (Colin Cunningham)! Pope told Clayton about the children at the school in exchange for his life. I hope to see a lot more of Pope in the coming episodes. His comic relief adds extra to the show that Steven Spielberg has already made a winner.
This episode begs the question what do the Skitters want with our children. Ben talked fondly of the Skitters in one scene and it leads me to believe they have some control over the children even after they escape. I think we will be getting answers to this very soon.

It has been a while since I posted, but I can certainly say this; are we all are ready to rock and roll this week with our fearless Warehouse 13 team once again? You bet we are and I am certain you were too!
This week was extra wonderful with special guest star Jeri L. Ryan (Body of Proof and Star Trek Voyager). Ms. Ryan did an absolutely outstanding job in the fourth episode of Warehouse 13 “Queen For A Day”, as the soon to be yet unknowing queen no less!
The episode starts out looking like like Artie is having a bad day. We open in the warehouse with Artie chasing a rather strange looking bug. I have seen Japanese beetles about as large, and this thing looks like one of those…On STEROIDS! Claudia and Jinks are in… Shiloh Park (Tennessee) at a Civil War re-enactment event. Apparently they have to find a flask which was owned by Ulysses S. Grant is an artifact….Among a myriad of flask-wearing attendees! This ought to be good…. No, This is Warehouse 13. A loose Artifact is NEVER ‘Good’ in the wrong hands.
Pete had called Claudia to find out where the little marshmallows are kept, and starts to talk about Artie a bit, but Claudia sees Artie standing behind Peter. Pete tried to redeem himself and Claudia disconnects from their call. During some mild banter, Artie loses the dang artifact bug and the chase is on again. As Pete starts to help, Lena calls him. Now, it seems as though Peter is on a “Top Gun” kick, and is dismayed at having to explain what he means. “Has nobody seen ‘Top Gun’?” he says as Leena interrupts him with a message that someone is there to see him. “She says she is your Ex-Wife…?” Leena tells him as Peter falls off the chair.
At the house in town where the Warehouse team lives, Leena and Myka are in the parlour. Myka talks about “27 hours to Dubai and back, and I KNOW I should have gone to the Warehouse first…” as she brings out a beautiful little Beehive statue from her bag. “How does this get to Dubai, anyway?” She asks. “It is not like Dubai looks like Dakota or anything on the packing slip…”
Lena interrupts Myka to introduce her to Amanda. Amanda is wearing military uniform and extending her hand finishes “Amanda Lattimer”. Pete comes in during this awkward moment and Amanda gives Pete a collectible comic book. Peter is very happy and turns into a big kid. I know what that is like, I love getting gifts, be they returned objects or surprises, I turn into a large, playful puppy as well.
Amanda tells him she is there to get married to someone else. She has come to Univille to get her Grandfather’s ring back. As Pete goes off to get the item, Amanda picks up the little beehive and toys with it. A tiny door opens and something begins to happen in the little artifact.It appears to be golden, mechanical and VERY insect-like! My feeling is a familiar “Oh NO!” I have come to know only too well in Warehouse 13!
Artie comes in and then Myka and the awkward chatter continues as Pete steers Artie and Myka out of room… As the little top on the hive opens and a little article goes spinning down inside. As Pete gets Artie out the door and Myka is sent upstairs, we now see the tiny door on the hive open and a little, intricate bee jumps out onto the table – unnoticed by the people in the room!
I must say, the Egyptians were indeed an advanced people, as this hive and bee were from Warehouse 2, but just LOOK at the clean intricacies of the hive and bee. My father was a machinist/engineer and would have been challenged to make something so beautiful and small without his shop and perhaps even a watchmaker’s qualifications
Pete and Amanda reconcile as Pete holds the ring she has come for, and he asks about the new man in her life. Her wedding is the next day, so I think we all know something is bound to happen. As Amanda leaves, Pete hugs her and she passes the table where the hive sits a little too closely. The tiny bee falls into Amanda’s bag but no one knows! We see the bee sitting among her make up in the bag.
As Pete and Myka are talking about his former marriage when Artie comes in holding the empty hive. “Where is the Bee?” he asked, shrugging and …Logically…Very nervous! They remember the events and realize what has happened. Peter is none too pleased about this. He is saying “No!… No no no no no, an artifact did not fall into my ex-wife’s purse on her way to her PERFECT fairytale wedding!
No, That did not happen!!” Artie comes up to Pete reminding him of Arties’ law of Artifacts: “The worst thing that can happen with an artifact -WILL happen with an artifact.” Myka says “It is in Amanda’s bag.” Artie tells them all “NOW we can panic.”
Now we are at a castle in the Poconos, the scene of Amanda’s wedding. She walks in among the preparations for the event. Her phone rings and she narrowly misses getting the bee riled up as she brings out the phone to see it is from Pete.
She seems to debate about answering this when her fiance shows up. She puts her phone back into her bag, covering the bee. When her fiance asks if she got the ring, she reaches in to the bag to get it. It is at that time she is stung by the artifact bee. She is then distracted by a woman who is calling the caterer an idiot and draws Amanda away. As we see her walking off, her finger is an angry red, glowing a bit.
Back in the Shiloh Park, The Civil War re-enactment is in full swing. Claudia and Jinks are in a tent, looking over flasks. All of these flasks are not what they came for. Kinks asks why they do not flash badge and start doing individual searches of the attendees. Claudia tells him that is not how they work. Again using her favorite word “Stealthy”.
Claudia reminds him the other attendees would freak out when they find out someone there has Ulysses S. Grant’s flask. Apparently, if someone drinks from this flask, they will believe they are actually fighting the real civil war and not just acting it out. Jinks asks Claudia how they are going to get the flask when she see uniforms hanging there in the tent. Soon, They exit the tent dressed as Confederate soldiers.
Back at the wedding venue, We see Amanda coming out in her dress, which is quite beautiful to hear some bridesmaids debating about who was supposed to bring or do what. Amanda whistles to draw their attention and realizes her finger is actually getting worse. Amanda holds her finger out for the others to see.
As they take her hand, we hear the ominous ‘Artifact’ sound and see a light travel from her to them. As the light goes into the bridesmaids, they become very, very attentive, offering her Band Aids, Triple antibiotics etc.
However it is the tone of their voices that have my attention. Her fiance’s party enter the room; Three Marines in Dress Blues… and Amanda goes to hug them in greeting. Again with the sound and light, they are now under the spell The men now, are attentive, bidding her to rest and offering her a chair. Again, their voices are calm and almost robotic.
Pete now enters the wedding venue and sees this all happening. He is talking to Amanda and I see the bridesmaids and the Marines for her husband to be all hovering protectively around her. Myka Asked Amanda where they could talk privately. as the three walk away, the wedding party is right behind them in unison.
Her fiance-Mike’s parents appear and Amanda asked the others to keep them away from her for a while “I do not care what you have to do, just keep them away from me.” Amanda tells them. –Now, WHY do I get a really BAD feeling from this?? Oh, I do not know, possibly the way the sound of angry bees start to drone as the wedding party go to the groom’s parents? Not only that, it is the way the wedding party gags and picks the groom’s parents up and carries them out of the room.
Pete and Myka are now trying to tell Amanda that something got loose while she was at the Bed and Breakfast. But because of their security protocol they cannot tell her what it is! They do get to search her bag and found the bee (I do wonder if that missing stinger is going to be noticed… Well, OF COURSE it will! They have to finish this, right?)
Back in Shiloh Park, the Civil War groups are fighting and sounding ‘realistic’. Claudia and Jinks finds a man in Confederate uniform to speak to. They asked if he knew the one who hit him in his face. The man tells them “It was Private Johnson. The guy went crazy right in the middle of a skirmish… Started punching other players and hitting them em with the butt of his rifle… And we have rules against that sort of thing!”.
It is at this point a ‘Yank” comes up and fires his rifle at them “You’re DEAD, Rebel scum!” Jinks fires back at him “So are you!”. As the Union man falls he dramatizes by gasping “Long live Abe Lincoln!”.
Back at the castle, Pete and Amanda are talking in private. Amanda is also apologizing to Peter about their failed marriage. As they lean in for a final kiss (Where I am thinking “Uh-Oh, Pete is next) they are interrupted by Mike coming in asking where his parents are.
As we end the scene, Amanda said “Will at 15:00 hours, I will finally be Mrs. Michael Martin.” Mike jokingly agreed, saying “And I will finally own you, Woman!”. They do not see the spellbound wedding party staring down at them standing above on a landing. Amanda’s words echo: “Nobody gets in or out”.
So, of course Pete and Myka are stopped by the wedding party as they try to leave. Pete sees what Myka sees as the bridesmaids come at her as well. Pete pulls a Marine’s dress cap down over his eyes and using that distraction Pete and Myka run back into Amanda’s salon.
As a sword comes through the wood of the barricaded door, Amanda is also now clued in that there is something seriously wrong. She reasons to Peter’s “Need to know” that given that they under attack by her own wedding party, she is sure she “Needs to know!”
Artie has found details about the hive and bee at the warehouse. A female Pharaoh who ruled around 1479 B.C.E. “Hatshepsut” created the artifact using the pheromones of honeybees. The Pharaoh would then actually place the stinger into her own body to become a “Queen Bee”. Myka then looks at the bee they have and there is no stinger!
Shiloh Park is seeing more battle of the Civil war. We see a Union Soldier holding a gun on a confederate “Die you Rebel Dog!” The confederate replies “Dude, I shot you!” The scene goes to the Union man’s hip, where an ornate flask hangs from his belt. The Union man snarled “You will die Rebel, traitor… And I shall be victorious!! holding his rifle aloft. “…For my great country!” Well, if it isn’t our Private Johnson, who sincerely believes he is at the real Battle of Shiloh.
Private Johnson aims at the rebel and Jinks stops the shooting. (Remember, this guy really believes he is in the actual Civil War) Jinks is trying to tell him what is really going on. Instead, Pvt. Johnson again attempts to kill Jinks (Confederate uniform, remember?) Claudia comes up, dressed in female attire and asks Johnson with a southern drawl “You would not hurt a lady would you sir?”
To which Johnson replies “I would never harm a woman.” but he raised his bayonet “But I intend to kill this scurvy gray-bag!” Claudia replies “‘Fraid not…” ZAP! She Tesla guns Johnson! Seems Claudia made a ‘Mini-Tesla’. Small but equally effective! Jinks told Claudia about his big sister who was always saving his butt.
They grab the flask! -I want one of those min-Tesla guns! Great for protection in the big city, I can imagine the permits needed…Permits? Permits? We do not need to worry about Permits! The Law could always use less paperwork too, in trying explain what a “Tesla” gun is.
As Jinks puts it into the deactivation bag, the scene is witnessed by another attendee who says “Damn Trekkies, Always crashin’ the party, pretending they’re time travelers’ and walks off. I rather liked that!
Artie and Myka are talking on the Farnsworth. The Stinger is not in Amanda’s finger. Artie tells her it works it’s way through the body, drawn to the glands. It creates the pheromone production and anyone Amanda touched become ‘Worker Bees’ who are slavishly devoted to her every need and protection. So now they must break out of the castle.
They see the Bridesmaids clearing the large table in the reception hall, and meanwhile, the other Marines hit Mike and carry him off. Amanda tried to get them to stop, but they did not obey. By now they do not listen to her, but blindly continue to protect her at all costs!
The wedding party now has Mike tied up and on a table. It looks like they are going to kill him. Myka is on the Farnsworth with Artie who is telling them what is happening. The ancient Pharaoh Hatshepsut’s husband had been mummified alive by her attendees, so this was bound to happen to Mike!!
Artie calls back, he has found that the artifact bee is like a magnet. Holding this artifact over Amanda’s left clavicle (Collarbone) will draw the stinger out of her body. After a but of fighting to subdue the wedding party, Myka and Pete do, in fact, accomplish this task.
We see the light leaving all the effected parties after the -now complete- Artifact bee is placed into the neutralizer bag. They get up, bemused at what happened. None seem to remember being in fights or anything, but they all have bruises and battle wounds. Normalcy is restored!!
Although a bit disheveled, the wedding party goes off without a hitch and it was a beautiful ceremony. LOVED Pete’s explanation of the wounds on the wedding party to the groom – Mike Martin’s parents, “They ate bad mushrooms…. I guess they had a bad trip” I totally cracked up at this, being of an age to remember when “Magic Mushrooms” were a hot item!
Back at the Warehouse, Pete was telling Myka how it wasn’t his marriage he was trying to hide, it was his past self. He never wanted anyone to see him like that. Heck, Pete, I think we all are like this. I do not care how wonderful we may look today, our past is what shaped a lot of what we are. Claudia finds an article about Olivia Jinks, the ‘big sister’ who was killed by a stray bullet. Jinks sees her and tells her that is why he joined the ATF.
Jinks assures Claudia it is okay, as she starts to apologize for making him sad…again. Jinks tells Claudia about his sister. “She was your age, and I’ll always remember this one time we were….” as Artie looks at them through a window from another room.
My take… For What It Is Worth…
So, in this episode, the past came up to visit our fearless team. We find out that much as that past may not have been our finest moments, it is what makes us what we are today. There are many things am sure we would like to erase in our pasts, but we cannot erase ourselves. The best we can do is accept those times we fell flat on our faces, times we made bad decisions and learn from it. Our mission here is to grow, so consequently, we did not arrive here knowing everything, being “Good at” everything, we have had to come to our own fruition through trial and error.
The problem with some people today is that they do not LET GO of some past things. We have to try to MOVE ON and stop living the past over and over again. Best to try to figure out what we learned from it and stop dwelling in the murky waters of what WAS, This is something we all have the ‘Response-ABILITY’ to do, the rest is all Choices we make.
One of my favorite adages is: “When you wonder if your mission on Earth is done, if you wake up the next day… it is not.” Long may our fallibility and growth continue!

As we saw in the last episode, a new guy has joined the team! With a last name of “Jinx”, although it is spelled “Jinks” this could get interesting!
The man can tell when you are lying or being truthful. Come to think of it, maybe he is related to my Mother. She too had this uncanny ability. Jinks really had no idea at all what the job entailed, being a Warehouse agent. but this was a whole new career opportunity for our Mr. Jinks. He just did not know it yet! He was resistant at first, of course who would not be?
I enjoyed the last episode’s opening, having been a musician for over thirty years… involving a guitar once played by none other than Jimi Hendrix! I would have loved to just HOLD that guitar, for just a few minutes!Our Agents Claudia, Artie and Peter were trying to get into the room so Claudia could bend the pitch of the strings.
Jinks -who, at this time was an agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) could detect truth from lies just like that, he just KNEW if someone was conning him. Artie finally just told the truth and Jinks believed him telling them to go in and fix the problem. Once that was done, Artie had to tesla-stun Jinks so they could get away.
Later, Jinks is in his home and receives a voice-mail from who we know to be Mrs. Frederick. “Turn on your lights. I need to speak to you”.Jinks turns the light switch and there are Mrs. Frederick with two others. Mrs. Frederick is scary in how she can just appear as if from nowhere. Thankfully, my bosses have never been like that! Those words from Mrs. Frederick to Steve Jinks says it all… “A world of Endless Wonder!”. Jinks is being asked to join the Warehouse team.
Jinks arrives at Warehouse 13 to be met by Claudia who opens the door for him and -Shades of Peters’ first day, “Artie made cookies”. In the episode, the Warehouse team dealt with a manuscript of Shakespearean writings by an embittered playwright. Whenever someone got a page or passage of the artifact, they started to become cut, stabbed or even in one case bitten by a snake. Key was for the dying to recite the prose in the play to survive. As most people did not realize what to do, they wound up dying. Agent Jinks almost met this fate! We also saw our favourite BAMF return, our wonderful Myka!!
Agent Jinks was, I guess one could say, a tried by fire Warehouse agent… After all, he WAS almost killed by an artifact!
“Trials”
We open in this episode with an airline pilot and his colleague coming in to final descent to Seattle. The pilot suddenly loses his ability to fly the plane. It is as if his mind has gone blank. It would make you think he was having a transient ischemic attack, or ‘Mini-stroke”.
As the commotion happens on the plane, we see Myka settling in to her place as a warehouse agent again. Morning meeting is discussing the Pilot. Peter wants to take a train to Seattle as he apparently doesn’t like to fly.
Artie is telling Steve Jinks and Claudia that they are going to Boston, as an auction house is going to be auctioning off the butcher knife which once belonged to Mary Mallon (Typhoid Mary) The knife enables its’ owner to transmit its’ disease or injury to anyone. Artie tells Steve and Claudia to go, bid, win! Claudia asks if Artie is not coming along, but Artie is off to a memorial service to a regent who had been killed in a boating accident. Claudia is excited to get her own mission!
Now in Seattle, the Doctor is telling Pete about the pilot. Yesterday this was an accomplished pilot, and now he has regressed to a five-year-old mentality. Physically, he is fine. At that same moment, a surgeon also gets the strange look on her face, as her mind is also wiped. While she has not regressed as severely as the pilot, she too is now like a teenager, asking for her “Mom” and saying she wants to go home.
Claudia and Steve are in the auction house bidding on Mary Mallon’s knife. Claudia has also given Steve a nickname: “Poopy-Pants”. It is after the auction they are told by the curator that the artifact was in fact a fake. The real one has been stolen!! They find out a janitor who was working there had left early. He did not go home ‘sick’, he had actually quit the job. The Curator said that the Janitor was an older man, that maybe the work was a bit too much for him. The Janitor’s name by the way? Owen Larson! Off they go to try to find this Owen Larson fellow!
Pete and Myka find a connection to the two people who are in hospital, they both ate at a place called Jalapeno Harry’s. That is also the scene of a murder of one of the waitresses who worked there. Peter tries to get information from “Ken” the server there. Ken tries to tell them what he can, but the police and all coming around, it is scaring the customers.
The night she was killed was April sixth and that is also the night those two people were there for their dinners. Two customers are being called as witnesses to the murder…. Our two victims! Peter is now telling Myka that the suspect is a Jeffery Sedolia, that he is presently in custody and the trial starts next week.
Myka tells Peter via the cell phone that they had better work fast. The Pilot is now catatonic and has no memories, the doctors feel the involuntary actions will soon quit as well. Swallowing, and even breathing.
Claudia and Steve Jinks are now on stakeout outside of Larson’s residence. They are hoping to find Mary Mallon’s knife and retrieve it. Claudia is getting a bit big headed about being a senior agent, and Steve is calling her on it. Claudia thinks Steve is attracted to her, but he clarifies that he is, in fact, Gay. Okay, I can see this coming in handy in a future episode, but otherwise I saw no reason to bring that into the storyline at all… Unless he is telling Claudia that to have her back off from him. Who knows?
Jinks is also a Buddhist type and tries to get Claudia to park her ego in the back seat, accept that she IS in fact a good agent. Claudia’s over exuberance about being the lead agent in this mission stems from her own lack of confidence, Jinks knew this from the get-go.
Now, we are in the jailhouse with Jeffery Sedolia. He is telling them he is innocent and that may be a cliche, but he maintains he did not do the murder. Peter and Myka talk to him about why their victims are getting sick. Jeffery’s Lawyer is trying to imply the Warehouse agents are trying something for the prosecution, but they are not. “Shouldn’t you be trying to protect Eric?” asked the lawyer.
Peter and Myka know nothing about this man. Jeffery Sedola is now giving up a name of someone else: Eric Bell. Jeffery claims he drove Eric home that night. His Lawyer says the prosecution will claim Jeffery drove back to the restaurant to kill the waitress….”Tire tracks match his car” he concludes.
Peter and Myka learn the Mother of the murdered woman is very vocal, having been on the news every night about the case. At the completion of their interview, a reporter named Courtney Moore and her team walk in for an appointment to interview the Mother….Again. Like, ‘Every evening’ “Again”.
Peter and Myka don’t seem to like this. It strikes me that the reporter and the mother of the waitress already have Jeffery Sedolia tried and convicted in their mindset. I would also point out that has been happening in real life as well. A very famous case in Florida had all these same elements…Art imitating life, perhaps? Media can infect the public opinion, making a fair trial almost next to impossible.
Claudia and Steve Jinks are awkwardly chatting in the car and see Lawson leaving his place. Claudia and Steve approach Larson, but Larson pepper-sprays Steve in the face. The chase is on and as Larson runs up an alley, a car door opens and Artie is there! The door slams Larson down who now is writhing and yelling “My knee… my knee!!” Artie and Larson both grab for the artifact, we can see the transfer of energy between Artie and Larson. –I think I spotted a ‘blooper’ The transfer should go from User (Handle) to Victim (Blade). If it is omnidirectional, that is fine, but the effect is much better, in my humble opinion, if there is a one-way path to the energy transfer.–
Unfortunately, Larson gets away. Claudia knows Artie was spying on her. She feels in a way, hurt that Artie doesn’t trust her. But he does, really, I think he was looking over her to feel proud of her. I doubt he would have stepped in if there were not a good reason to do so. Artie really does care for his agents and can sometimes come off as a ‘Mother hen’ over their well being.
Peter and Myka are back in the hospital, and we see Eric Bell is also affected! He is like a child wanting to see “Jeffy” as his mother tells him “No, Honey, he can’t come play.” Mrs. Bell says he has been like this all day. They find out that Courtney Moore has been speaking to the witnesses and now feel she is behind their afflictions. Myka is interrupted in talking to Peter as he too falls into a state of confusion and memory loss! He seems to be like a teenager, telling Myka “Aw, man… you’re Hot!…Who are you?” and is no longer the Professional Peter we know.
Well, I guess it is NOT the Reporter after all!! As Peter is now in a hospital bed, he is acting like he has just lost his father. His sister is going to college in a couple of years. “Everybody’s always leaving me” … It is as if Peter has gone back to another time in his mind, before Myka, Mrs. Frederick, the Warehouse… Myka goes to see Courtney Moore at the newsroom and while questioning her, COURTNEY is now mentally wiped out!
Seems Courtney tried to get into Jeffery Sedolia’s lawyer’s face, Jeffery told Myka “She folded like laundry.” The attorney, Sawyer stood up to Courtney and it did not go well for her. Seems all of our inflicted people have Sawyer in common and now the connection is being made to him. But…How? How is he doing this?
Claudia gets a ping on the Farnsworth and they have found Larson. Off they go, and they think they know why he took the knife! As our team enter a hospital, we hear the ‘artifact’ sound. We see the handle of the knife in a young man’s hand as he lies in the bed as an eerie light travels from the young man’s hand up through the knife to Larson’s hand.
Larson sees Jinks and Claudia enter the room and tells them “You’re too late. You can take me away now… but you’re too late” “We’re not here to take you away, we just want the knife!” Claudia tells him. Larson says “He’s my son! It’s not fair…Now it is!” Steve looks on the young man in the bed and says “Cancer.” as Larson continues: “Leukemia.” Steven says “I’m sorry…” Larson tells them “I couldn’t just let him die, he has a little boy!” As Larson sets the knife down next to a picture of the young man and his son,
Claudia says “So you started researching cures.”. “Anything” Larson agreed. “Even a crackpot theory on an urban myth website about Typhoid Mary’s knife.” Steve concluded “That’s why you took the job at the auction house, to get the knife.”. Larson carried it further: “Sounds insane! A knife that could transfer illness, but when I gave that fella my busted knee, well…!” Claudia said “But that means… now YOU’RE sick” “Now it’s fair.” said Larson “My boy’s life is just starting out. He can watch his son grow up, protect him. Now it’s fair”.
Larson looks as if he wants to cry as he asks them if they are going to arrest him for taking the knife. I like what Steve Jinks said “No. We don’t go after bad guys, we go after artifacts” At this time, Larson’s son wakes and sits up in bed looking confused at all of them.
Myka is now in the newsroom and Courtney’s assistant is showing her something he was made to promise not to share with anyone. The video of Sawyer telling Courtney off in front of the courthouse. Myka notices Sawyer is wearing a tie clip of an interesting design. All the people effected were those who had been in contact with Sawyer.”Who wears a tie clip anymore?” Myka asks softly.
In the jailhouse, Myka is told by Sawyer he had received the tie clip as a gift, no note. He said it sounds silly, but he feels confident when he wears it. The clip is nice looking and has “W.W” on it. They tie it to asking questions… Walter Winchell Winchell was famous for pulling information out of people.
Myka sees Winchell’s photo on the Farnsworth as Lena tells her about him and she notices that there is also a set of cufflinks on Mr. Winchell as well. Lena asks her “You think this is a bifurcated artifact?” Myka surmises “If the Tie clip pulls memories out of people, maybe the cufflinks put them back in…! Winchell didn’t leave a trail of brain-dead interviewees… I need to find those cufflinks!”
Lena has already done some homework. Seems a cub reporter was working at the news agency when Winchell started, a Louis Thompson. Thompson’s granddaughter; Sara Bell and her son Eric are living in Seattle!
Myka goes to the hospital to find Eric is gone, and Mrs. Bell had check him out about an hour ago. “A miraculous recovery!” the doctor said “It’s weird… He’s fine, now!” Off goes Myka to track them down! But she stops to reassure Peter she will be back. Myka is now at the Bell household. Myka has a Tesla gun on Mrs. Bell turns the garbage disposal on, threatening to drop the cufflinks into it. Myka is trying to appeal to her for them.
Eric comes in and says “It was an accident! I have to pay for what I did1′. Eric is ready to step up to the plate like an adult and face the fact he killed someone. He is shocked to learn about the tie clip and cufflinks, how his mother used them to ‘protect’ her son. Eric goes to his mother after Myka took a shot at the switch, turning the kitchen dispoal off by bullet… Eric gently hugs his mother, takes the cufflinks and hands them over to Myka.
Peter is restored by looking at the cufflinks. The others will also be back to normal now as a nice song plays in the background. Claudia and Steve watch Larson’s family together in the medical center and the artifact (s) are safely put away in the warehouse.
Now in a meeting area the Regents are speaking to Myka, who has agreed to come back. They needed to know and they needed her to know she was ready to return. The story about the waitress and her murder came out here as well: Eric Bell was dating the waitress in secret and when she tried to break up with him and he had gone to the restaurant to try to talk her out of leaving him. Apparently it “Ended Badly” as one of the Regents put it. Myka had a lot of self-doubt and regret after the trust she had placed in H. G. Wells who turned out to be a bad one. Myka needed to trust herself again. “Welcome Back!” they tell her.
My Take…For what it is worth…
I notice the common theme in this episode is Parental love for their offspring. Parents will stop at nothing to protect their ‘children’. Be it from a criminal act, or devastating illness. But, I also wonder, how may of us go to those old pawn shops and look trough the old jewelry trays of rings, pendents and what-not, thinking perhaps we may find a hidden treasure? When I was younger, I would go with my mom and look through all the old things, hoping to find a “Junk” ring that would turn out to be real gems and gold! Or to find a framed picture, maybe to secretly a map to a treasure chest! I would wonder if the huge pendent in the window had once been worn by a Knight or some hot shot in history.
But, alas, I was not as fortunate as Harry Winston, The Diamond man of Jewelry fame. HE is the one who saw a tray of junk rings and one ring caught his attention. He bought it with his allowance-Legend has it 25¢- and Harry loved the vibrant green stone in it. …I would too. Darn thing was a real emerald and when re-cut fetched a small fortune of that era! I love to go through antique shops, pawn shops and sometimes, albeit not worth a lot of money, I have indeed found nice little things which I still use today.
So, maybe I will never find the elusive jewelry or “Old table” worth thousands of dollars. But maybe, just maybe… our next trip to that little shop could net us an Artifact of a bygone age. I do hope we would know how to wield that kind of power.

All our prayers have been answered! Last week we found out that while Pete Latimer (Eddie McClintock) will be working with “The New Guy” Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) and that our favorite heroine Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) decided to return to the Warehouse 13 team after all!
However I am getting a little ahead of myself before the monumental events culminate in the return of Myka to the team!
At the beginning of the episode our team is on a mission in Jersey City New Jersey in a rock and roll museum looking for the legendary guitar of none other than Jimi Hendrix! The building is surrounded by police and fire crews as the entire location is rippling with lightening and strange melodic sounds. This crazy musical artifact is threatening to rip the building apart and bring the entire electrical grid to a disaster that could short-circuit the entire eastern seaboard yet another innocent set of victims and perhaps an entire music museum in the process!
Naturally our Warehouse 13 team experts were dispatched by Mrs. Frederick (CCH Pounder) with Pete Latimer (Eddie McClintock) Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) and artifact curmudgeon Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek)! Once on location their investigation confirms the electric vibrations are emanating from the Jimi Hendrix guitar sending lightning like bolts rippling throughout the structure! Disaster is of course about to occur threatening innocent citizens and our poor eardrums in the process!
As we mentioned in our pre-review, we are introduced to our newest potential Warehouse investigator, a handsome fellow by the name of Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) at this point. Steve Jinks has the ability to determine if someone is telling the truth or not which will prove interesting throughout the episode. Jinks is obviously going to become involved with our heroes when we learn that he is going to enter the building with a team of fire investigators. Also enjoyable is the characters last name! I mean really? “Jinks” (Jinx)!:-P
Once inside the museum we observe that Jinks is indeed really hilarious! Artie first Tesla’s the fire crew to knock them out and we are led to believe that Jinks is among them since we do not see all their faces. During his interaction with the team both Pete and Artie attempt to tell lies to Jinks and he see right through them. Always on the ball, Artie picks up on the fact that Jinks is on to him and Artie elects tells the truth for a change (for a few minutes anyway). Jinks lowers his weapon and gives them permission to save the situation from devastation and Claudia tames the Hendrix artifact!
As the adventure continues to unfold we learn Claudia that can and does does play Jimi Hendrix’ guitar to settle the artifact down before the entire facility is ripped to shreds! Subsequent to this fortunate circumstance, we all get a good belly laugh when we witness Claudia caressing and gently stroking the instrument that belonged to Jimi Hendrix! Even more riotous Artie come in and catches Claudia in the act playing the famous but now controlled instrument Errrr artifact!
During these sequences the special effects by Matt Hansen, visual effects by Laird McMurray with accompanying music by Alicen Catron Schneider is superb. Meanwhile our erstwhile Steve Jinks, soon to be new Warehouse 13 team member catches up with Artie and Claudia who then catches both in several lies! This is certainly going to be a Jinks character trademark in the future…. But beforehand just as Jinks says “You’re lying”, Artie blasts him with the mind altering and memory erasing Tesla gun!
We segue to Steve Jinks entering his apartment oblivious to what has just happened. In the background are Mrs. Frederick and her assistant. As he is checking his voice mail message, one of them is from Mrs Frederick instructing Jinks to turn on the lights and turn around!
With a strange look on his face, Mrs Frederick’s informs Steve Jinks he is just the man for the job she has for him. Stunned that a couple of strangers are in his apartment asking “What Job”, Mrs. Frederick informs Jinks that she will introduce him to a “New world … A world on endless wonder”! Notably Jinks knows that she is telling the truth, and so begins the journey of our newest Warehouse 13 team member!
As the adventure begins there is an hilarious sequence outside the Warehouse with Claudia inspecting Jinks new Prius Hybrid automobile! “Fancy Smancy” she call it and hand him one of the devices used at the Warehouse and says the “new guy” can take care and fix the “fish”. As they enter the building, a note here, the humor written into every episode is what makes Warehouse 13 so enjoyable. Especially fun is when a baseball come flying out nowhere and whacks the new Prius with Claudia telling Jinks “It will buff out”! Classic Warehouse 13!
After a losing debate with Artie about his new partner, Pete is forced to accept the fact that for the time being Myka is not coming back to the team. Artie say that he needs a partner and Jinks is it. There is some good humor about the name (Jinks = Jinx), but finally Pete tells Jinks he is “really looking forward to working with him”, to which Jinks of course says “You’re lying!”. This is going to be a great addition as we find out during the course of “The New Guy” who gets to see the Warehouse from the veranda!
This brings us to the mission itself and a new bad guys and the fact that the ancient Egyptian section of the Warehouse 13 stockpile is acting including a storm that is brewing sending lightning bolts rippling through the facility. Connected to the fun is a series of grisly deaths all with a link to an unknown artifact from ancient Egypt being used by the new unknown nemesis of the team.
We then are introduced to FBI Agent Sally Stukowski (Ashley Williams, How I Met Your Mother, Law and Order: SVU, As The World turns) in Denver where a victim of a poisonous “Russels Viper” snake has perished. Featuring a wonderful southern drawl Agent Stukowski confronts Pete and Steve at the crime scene and throughout the course of “The New Guy” episode.
Agent Stukowski appears again and again as more victims are being killed related to the ultimate crime, the murder of several prominent financial figures from the banking industry that the new criminals are involved with. It becomes apparent that the bad guys are using the ancient Egyptian artifacts for nefarious purposes yet to be revealed.
One of the best parts of the episode Is that Myka is not permanently gone from the Warehouse 13 team. As we indicated previously, Myka’s (Joanne Kelly) appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego was confirmation that Myka will be around for the third season for Warehouse 13 fans around the world to enjoy! Hiding out at a library, Pete and Jinks seek out Myka for her knowledge of ancient literature. Pete gets what he needs and is characteristically curt with Myka for her abandoning the team. Pete says they do not heed her, but Jinks confirms that Pete is of course lying! Once again a good use of humor by the writers in Warehouse 13!
As the victims begin to pile up, Myka confirms that the victims are uttering Cleopatra’s last words. The team works together reluctantly to stop the bad guys at the hotel at the very last minute before the history of the “Lost Folio” kills them at the investment bankers convention banquet.
As we neat the end of the episode we come back to Helen G. Wells (Jamie Murray) in an unusual way.
Also as suspected we seen not the last of this beautiful vixen and her trouble making ways in Warehouse 13, she tells Myka via holographic interface (provided by Mrs. Frederick) that she should not leave the team and that she is not proud of the trouble she caused that drove Myka from the team. Myka realizes the error of her ways and decides to come back to the Warehouse team! YAY!
Finally, we learn there is a new unknown villain AND Agent Stukowski is involved! The question we are sure to learn as season three unfolds is what are these bad guys and gals up to? But it is more than obvious they will be among the new nemesis emerge to bedevil the Warehouse 13 team in season three!
Warehouse 13 returns tonight Monday July 18, 2011 in “Trial” at 9 PM E/P 8 central time on Syfy when Pete and Myka continue their collaboration to fight the effects of an artifact that is causing key witnesses in a murder trial to forget their testimony while Claudia is sent on a mission to determine why an artifact is actually being used for good purposes!

The entire Warehouse 13 team was shocked beyond belief including Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti), Mrs. Frederick (CCH Pounder), curator Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek), were stunned to say the least as we see below in the promo trailer!
With H.G. Wells (Jamie Murray) apparently safely locked away by Mrs. Frederick, we find the team settling back down to work. The remaining team finds itself on a mission Jersey City New Jersey in a wild place filled with lightening and strange melodic sounds and even stranger artifacts threatening to destroy yet another innocent set of victims and perhaps an entire music museum in the process!
It is here that we are introduced to our newest Warehouse investigator candidate. This young fellow by the name of Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) apparently has the ability to determine if someone is telling the truth or not?! He is very funny during interaction with Pete! Perhaps even more important, will we learn if Claudia can play the guitar shown above?! 😛
With superb special effects by Matt Hansen, visual effects by Laird McMurray, and music by Alicen Catron Schneider, our erstwhile nee Warehouse 13 candidate encounters Artie and Claudia who then catches both in several lies! How I cannot say much more at this time, however the episode is hilarious when Claudia plays with a very famous musician’s guitar.

Oh, dear! We have left the Last episode with our intrepid Pete Latimer (Eddie McClintock) and Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) in Egypt, after they successfully shut down Warehouse 2 and saved Mrs. Frederick from a fatal ‘download’ from the ancient Warehouse 2!
Seems SOMEONE hired three students to go on an archeological dig there, but because they were detected by the Warehouse as ‘Intruders’, the three boys wound up dead and in a mummified state in Alexandria, Egypt.
Of course, this drew attention from the warehouse 13 team when their ‘Supervisor’ Mrs. Frederick started to become almost ‘Possessed’, speaking in Demotic-The tongue of Ancient Egypt. They discovered in the archives, that when the ancients were under siege by the Romans in 31 B.C. The Ancients did not have time to shut it down properly… so they buried it all, lost to the ages, until now.
Our Team; H.G. Wells, Myka and Peter were off to Egypt. The mission? They had to properly shut down Warehouse 2 or IT…Yes, IT would take over Mrs. Frederick and result in killing her. You see, a Warehouse of this nature is more Organic than your average structure. When Warehouse 2 was ‘awakened’ by the students who entered it, it started to seek out its’ caretaker. However, as the caretaker of Warehouse 2 had been dead for over two-thousand years, it went in search of the current caretaker…. In this case, that would be Mrs. Frederick. As Warehouse 2 became stronger and establish a link to Mrs. Frederick, the current Warehouse would… Die.
We saw some wonderful Egyptian artifacts and tests that Warehouse 2 laid out for its’ protection and our team was ultimately successful in shutting Warehouse 2 down. Right in the nick of time, I might add. If Mrs. Frederick became ‘Eclipsed’ a new Agent would have to be appointed. At the modern warehouse, Claudia was the only likely candidate. She and Mrs. Frederick were bound at the wrists by Dr. Caulder and just as the final ‘tick’ of the proverbial clock was about to strike, our team in Egypt successfully shut down Warehouse 2!
Mrs. Frederick and Claudia made a discovery about how the students wound up in Egypt. Money had been used from Warehouse 13’s own funds! By none other than H.G. Wells!!!
Myka and Peter were summoned to another part of the Warehouse 2 by H.G. Wells. When they got to her and started to excitedly tell her about stopping the demise of Mrs. Frederick and Warehouse 13, Helena said “I hope you can forgive me” as she turned to them, aimed her gun and stunned them both. She walked out, leaving them in the now deceased Warehouse 2, leaving Poor Myka and Peter on the stone floor.
“Reset”
Myka is coming to to hear Peter calling to her in Warehouse 2. They find the warehouse is filling up with sand! Myka remembers the modern Warehouse has a back way out, surely this one must have a back way as well. as tey see a way out, Peter sees it is quite high up. There is a hatch in the ceiling. As they are trying to find a way to get up to the exit, Myka is looking at the original ten books of Plato!
I would have LOVED to go in and look all those artifacts over…Such rich history and art, All I could think is “Wow!”. Peter asked about a snake around a rod, and Myka said it is probably the rod of Aesculapius. Maybe a form of Healing devise! Although that turned out to not be the case when the snake came alive and hissed at Peter, Myka found a magnificent treasure, The Wings of Daedalus!! Daedalus was the father of Icarus who in legend flew too close to the sun.
Pete put the wings on and they started to shimmer beautifully and he lifted up off the ground with Myka holding onto his back as the wings caught the wind… In fact, the wings seemed to generate their own lift! As they went higher and higher, the Farnsworth started to work and Artie tells them H. G. is a bad guy. “WE KNOW!!”
Peter and Myka said in unison. But Artie was right outside the hatch, he got it open and Peter, with Myka flew up to the outside and Artie. As they landed on Terra Firma, Peter said “‘You’ve got to let me keep these!” Artie replied “Oh, right, because they worked out so well for Icarus!” Turned out, according to Artie, the Farnsworths were designed to work deep underground but when he lost their signal he realized Helena had jammed the Farnsworths somehow. Farnsworth ‘rings’ again, it is Claudia: “Hey guys? H.G.’s a bad guy!” All three yell back “WE KNOW!”
Now our team is back at Warehouse 13. Warehouse 2 is -again- buried and lost to the ages. I would have loved to go through that place and bring back some of the mystical, magical artifacts! Artie is saying how H.G. Wells has been planning this for a long time. Mrs. Frederick as if by magic, appears. She is asked about an inventory system at Warehouse 2 and then explains how they could tell if an artifact was not in its’ correct place if the sign had a seated Anubis, it was OK. If the figure of Anubis was running, The artifact was not in its’ place.
Mrs. Frederick is able to see the sign of Anubis running by the “Rack Of Spears”. Then she loses memory of anything more about it.
Claudia remarked how Helena had hacked into the account to fund those students and found the location of Warehouse 2. Even before she was “Bronzed”. She must have wanted an artifact from WH 2, but what was it? Checking the inventory from Warehouse 2 via Mrs. Frederick, they found it was from the rack in Warehouse 2. Helena has accessed the account and Claudia sees H.G. has booked a flight to Paris!
Peter is now getting set to leave with the others and talks to Dr. Kelly Hernandez on the phone as she tends to a Labrador dog in her practice. He tells her he does in fact love her and they plan to see each other after this trip.
Back in Warehouse 13, Claudia is telling Artie about almost becoming an agent while Vanessa and Mrs. Frederick were there in the last episode. Claudia almost became a bona-fide Warehouse agent and she is frightened about this. “I can’t even buy a wine cooler in this state and… well…” Artie assures her that nothing will happen without her complete and total consent. Claudia is relieved and they get back to business at hand.
In Paris, France, Myka and Peter are going to find Helena’s daughter’s resting place. They speculate whether or not the spear has resurrection properties. Could Helena be trying to bring her daughter back from the dead? I somehow do not think so. Even in the sore state of grieving, people know there are boundaries. They found out from a local man that the cemetery has in fact been moved. Helena is talking to an attorney about Christina and Then Pete and Myka find the paperwork about Christina in the lawyer’s office.
Meanwhile in the crypt where Christina is interred, H.G. and the lawyer are there. She affirms that Christina’s been taken care of to her specifications and the lawyer said she had. They stand as Helena reverently gazes at her daughter’s final resting place.
He asks her if he may leave now, but H.G. tells the lawyer to remove his shoes and step into this…As she pours a tar-like substance onto the marble floor of the crypt. He ultimately does. The tar-like stuff starts to come up onto the lawyer’s feet.
H.G. spills water onto the gunk and he starts to sink into the ooze What she called a Primordial tar from Pitch lake in Trinidad. When the water was added, the goo became like a tar pit, taking him down to a fate like the prehistoric wooly mammoths of old met up with.
Pete and Myka come in right in the nick of time to save the lawyer from his fate of the fossils and Helena gets away. They find a handle is missing from the coffin holding Christina.
Back at Warehouse 13, they had used Mrs. Frederick and her memories of Warehouse 2’s inventory to find out it is not a SPEAR, so figuring out the shape of the handle from the coffin, they did in fact figure the pieces are separate and when joined is one disastrous item: the Manillan Trident! This prehistoric Weapon of mass destruction was responsible for the destruction of the Manillan civilization in the fifteenth century B.C.E. by a catastrophic volcanic eruption. The Fara volcano which formed the island of Santorini.
The first artifact to be housed in Warehouse 1 by Alexander the Great. It seems Mc Phearson knew about this and had debronzed H.G. to get it all together and was going to tell the others about her. The Trident, when jammed into the ground three times causes a fissure in the Earth’s Surface. This was why the Romans invaded Egypt. Cesar wanted this power for himself.
H.G. found out about all this and went on the hunt for the parts of the Trident. It seems she has all she needs now! A ping alerts and they see that H.G. has bought a plane ticket to Wyoming.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hernandez receives a parcel, containing a lovely compact. The compact has the letters “L.A.B.” on it which Kelly thinks means “LAB” as in Labrador Dogs. Kelly uses the compact and takes a picture which she sends to Peter. Peter showed the picture to Myka Then… He receives a call from H.G.!!
H.G has a bit of villainous banter with Peter. She tells him she has closed all her accounts. She recommends he check up on Kelly. Claudia is tracking H.G. on a Farnsworth-type GPS and finds H.G. is heading to Bryson Reservoir…. in Yellowstone! The Yellowstone Caldera! Artie brings out the seismic maps and finds the six known volcanoes in the world… The most powerful of these is thought to be in Yellowstone.
If H.G. gets to this area and jams the trident into the ground, this would have an effect of monstrous proportions!! Millions would die immediately, but the far reaching consequence would be far worse. Last time a volcano blew like this, seventy-five thousand years ago, it created the ice age from which only six thousand humans survived. H.G. hid the part of the trident on her daughter’s coffin back in 1899. Now, she apparently has the whole Manillan Trident in her possession! It seems H.G. Wells’ nefariousness knows NO bounds!! Our heroes go to find H.G. Wells and the WMD (Weapon of Mass-Destruction).
Peter, by this time has left to go to Kelly. he never sent her a compact and now knows H.G.Wells did. Oh, Nothing good can come from that gift… Except, maybe, INSANITY! Peter arrives at the veterinary practice to find Kelly standing there, looking at him. Peter starts to talk to Kelly, He frantically looks around for her and Kelly enters the room, holding the compact up to herself. She speaks softly and lovingly to Peter. Then, she brings out a knife and tries to stab him!
She doesn’t seem to be aware of this. She is emotionless as she attempts to kill Peter. As they both stand off for a bit, Kelly say “Oh, Pete, I love you!…. And that’s why I have to kill you!” Peter gets her under control and when he takes the knife from her, she is unaware of what she tried to do. Peter looked at the knife, calling it “Lorena Bobbets’ knife”. Kelly says she is very thirsty. She weakly asks Peter to get her some water and he goes to do so. But it was a ruse by Kelly. As he is getting her water, she shoves a syringe into his buttock and he falls out, sedated.
In Yellowstone, We are with Myka and Artie, who use a subterranean heat sensor to find the most vulnerable spot for the trident to have its’ full effect. and H.G. Wells comes up behind them. Helena is holding the Trident. When asked what she could possibly want with this… Money? Power? Helena tells them “This is not a Bargaining Tool! I intend to use it, right here and right now!”
Back in Kelly’s practice, Peter is restrained and gagged on the metal exam table. He is coming around as Kelly stands looking over him. In the quiet way that only Warehouse agents have, Claudia …behind Kelly, starts to speak with her. Kelly tells her “You can’t be here right now. I have work to do…” as she uncovers an old axe on a nearby table. Kelly lifts the axe aloft and goes toward Peter. Claudia fights Kelly, and the mystery artifact is indeed the compact. It belonged to none other than Lizzie Borden!
Just as it looked like Peter was going to get his “forty Whacks” Claudia but the compact into the artifact de-activation bag and Kelly is back to normal. She remembers nothing at all about trying to kill Peter. Apparently, when one looks into the compact, one wishes to kill the one they love. Kelly is totally confused. Kelly is completely torn up in remorse. “I… I tried to kill you!” she says and runs out of the exam room.
Back in Yellowstone, H.G. Wells is holding the Trident and Myka asks why she would want to kill millions of innocent people. “Innocent?!” Helena replies “Open your eyes, Myka, haven’t you looked at the world in which you live??” Myka continues “So because you lost your daughter… because you’re angry…” Helena interrupts her: “No, Don’t you dare!” …Now, is just me, or does anyone else know when “Don’t you Dare” is said with a proper English accent, that one is in deep doo-doo? But, I digress…
Helena continues: “This may have begun with Christina’s murder, but it’s not about THAT! I foolishly believed if I were able to go back in time that things would have improved! A utopia would have emerged, but here we are, over a century later, and things have actually gotten worse! The divide between rich and poor, hunger and famine, war and violence and hatred… all flourishing beyond control… Indeed, men have found NEW ways to kill each other that were inconceivable in my day, even by FICTION writers!”.
Myka pointed out that millions are struggling against that every day! Helena goes on: “This planet needs a rest from what you’ve done to it!…It needs a chance to repair itself.” Myka understands now and says “Oh, my God, you seriously intend to start another Ice Age!” Artie looks about for something as Helena replies “The only way to save this world is by destroying the parasite who are eating it alive!” as she raises the Triad. Artie quickly pulls out a gun and saying “I don’t normally do this” shoots Helena in the shoulder. But HE is the one wounded, because H.G. is wearing the Corsican Vest. Once owned by the Corsican brothers who were twins, when one got hurt, the other one felt it. H.G. Wells then plunges the Trident into the ground, Strike One!
Helena has now achieved the first plunge of the Triad into the ground. Fissures start and the famous Yellowstone Geysers all start to spout off. The skies start to fill with clouds, speeding along and Artie, still over on the ground, wounded, reminds Myka “Three times. Don’t let her do it three times!” Myka tries to talk to Helena. “What about the millions of mothers who will lose their daughters just as you lost Christina?” Helena replies “this is no world for a child.” Mykas said “I don’t think you believe that.” Helena tells her “NO? Watch me!” and the second plunge into the Earth is administered.
Geysers, new ones, also start up, thunder rumbles in the skies as they darken ever further. Myka is talking to Helena saying if she had wanted to kill them she would have done so in Warehouse 2, Artie would have been killed in Russia… That is why she called Pete this morning “THINK, Helena! THINK!” Helena does in fact look bemused as she pulls the Triad out of the ground. Myka is beseeching Helena’s good side. Helena grabs Myka’s wrist saying “NO! Stay away from me!”
Myka takes Helena’s hand and places her gun into it “Then go ahead! Kill me! I mean we’re all going to die anyway, right? Just Shoot me! Shoot me now!!” She stands to Helena “Kill me. But not like a coward! I want you to look me in the eyes as you take… my… life!” Helena does not fire, and as she is distracted enough for Myka to grab the Trident from her. Helena is defeated!
Now we are back at Warehouse 13 and one of the Regents is talking to our heroes as H.G. Wells is taken into custody. Peter asked him “So, if you’re not going to rebronze H.G. Wells, where’s she going to go? Some…weird… place that we don’t know about?”
The Regent replies “The less you know, the better you will do your job.” He also told them they had done an excellent job in retrieving the artifact and preventing worldwide disaster, ” is the Prime Directive of the Warehouse agents. H.G. Wells was a formidable opponent. She fooled us all” Myka tells him “She didn’t fool Artie.”
As the Regent leaves, Claudia and Artie are in the Warehouse office and Claudia asks “Are you gonna die on us every year? Because, You know, it’s getting kinda boring.” Artie looks like he is going to say something with a finger pointing up and Claudia says “No finger wagging at me, old man….” She breaks off and looks like she is about to cry. Artie looks at Claudia “Hey…heyheyheyhey….kiddo… I plan on making your life Hell for a very long time.
Peter walks into Kelly’s practice. Peter and Kelly have a bit of a farewell scene, Kelly is leaving. She is (I believe) frightened of what Peter is involved in. No saving it, She is leaving. She kisses Peter and say goodbye as she leaves to finish packing up her practice. Peter stands alone, bemused in the exam room.
Next, Peter and Myka are in the loft by the main Warehouse office and Peter is talking about leaving this job.. Myka tells Peter he would have left already if he was going to leave. Peter goes to talk to Arte, and after that, Mrs. Frederick shows up and Myka gives her a letter for Artie. This last case upset her enough that she is now leaving. She feels terrible that SHE trusted H.G. Wells when others did not. Myka never wants to be in that position again!
Mrs. Frederick enters the office where everyone – except Myka – is gathered. She seems to feel sadness at Myka’s decision to leave the Warehouse team, but knows this is what Myka wants to do. Sitting down among the team, she now reads Myka’s letter to the rest of the team as we see Myka walking out.
“Artie, It breaks my heart to write this – we both know the Warehouse is my happiest place. I’ve thought a lot about this and I can’t stay here. If I do, I’ll second guess myself into oblivion. Please forgive me, but I have to go.
Pete, you’re the big brother I never had. I wish I had your strength. I know I frown at you and punch you a lot, but I’ll always love you. Please be careful.
Lena, you’re the only mom they have. Watch over them and make sure that Artie eats right.
Claudia, Take good care of Pete and Artie. Let’s face it, you the only real adult in the group. I wish I could be there to see you grow into the amazing woman you’re going to become. I love you all….
Myka.”
Pete then runs out of Warehouse 13 in hopes of catching Myka, but instead only observes the dust in the fields as her car is leaving. 🙁
My Take…For what it is worth…
I’m really impressed with the artifacts and how all the details (Fact and fiction) are interwoven in the stories of Warehouse 13. The way the agents get so close, like a family, their happiness and tears shared by the group… Warehouse 13 returns on July 11th and I, for one, hope to see Myka come back. If not, there will be a big void to fill by the writers and team of this amazing show!
H.G. Wells’ breakdown is I am sure, not new to many. The state of this world and the people within it breaks my own heart at times. We pollute the heck out of this planet, we consume and consume, expecting our resources to always be there. H.G. Wells … like many of her (his) day were visionaries. They all thought by now, we WOULD in fact be a Utopia. Flying cars, Amazing healing technology, self-sustaining fuels, clean air and happiness!
Well, We DO in fact have many of these things, but the greed of Corporations, Governments and so on, seems to stop us from realizing the ultimate world. We could have those flying cars and clean energy, but Oil is big business. We could have amazing healing, but Medicine is big business. The list could go on, but it is simply best put that when the greed of a few outweighs the good of many, just how ‘advanced’ are we really?

Falling Skies, an apocalyptic science fiction drama from Dreamworks Studios, is entering its second season on TNT. It stars Noah Wyle as a father of three sons doing his best to keep them alive and fighting back against an alien invasion force. 
The history teacher in Tom Mason might not be able to explain it, but Falling Skies has become a very popular show. This series is one of survival in the face of an overwhelming enemy. 
This from a public who often time shifts their entertainment viewing to on-line network sources, mobile devices and or recorded sources (DVR) now widely available in many homes. Perhaps even more telling is the huge crowd that joined the Falling Skies cast at the dedicated Falling Skies TNT web site to participate in “2nd Watch”. 
Here is the answer: Stories like the ones told by the TNT writers of Falling Skies attract us because they reflect humanity’s greatest strength, the power of adaptation. As a social animal, people are very curious about how others overcome challenges that might terrify us. We are fascinated by the thought that a person’s attitude can make a difference between life and death.
And that, I believe is what makes the show important at this particular time in America. Many Americans are facing challenges known only to their grandparents from the Great Depression often referred to as “the dirty thirties”. 
So, Americans and others around the word watch television as a means of escape. Comedy helps them feel better for a half hour at a time. Crime dramas produce a feeling that justice can occur and the good guys will win in the end. 
By watching how others cope with a traumatic event, even if it is fictional, we learn to cope with challenges in our everyday lives. “The biggest difference between our cool-headed heroes and the rest of us is not that those people are somehow fearless; it’s that they relate to their fears in a much more harmonious way than others do. In other words, these poised people have learned to work with their fears rather than against them — they don’t get preoccupied with their nerves or struggle to eradicate their anxiety — and this important shift frees them to focus on the moment and perform their best”, says Taylor Clark, author of the book, Nerve, a book about dealing with fear and stress.
